Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted October 25, 2007 Root Admin Posted October 25, 2007 I have some pictures of Alaska I want to frame. Any suggestions on where to get them printed? Or not? Suggestions?
zander Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 Last year, I uploaded some pictures I wanted enlarged to Wal-Mart's website and then you can pick to have them mailed to you or picked up at your local store, it was really cheap and the quality was really good, I would suggest that just due to the ease of it all.
Danoinark Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 Phil I have used Wal-Mart's Photo Dept to print digital photos and I have never had a problem with their services. I put them on CD and let them do it that way versus using the online service. Dano Glass Has Class "from the laid back lane in the Arkansas Ozarks"
Kicknbass Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 I use Yorkphoto.com " Too many hobbies to work" - "Must work to eat and play"
jdmidwest Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 I agree with the others, much as I hate Wally World, the photo service is pretty cheap. I edit and put them on a memory stick then take them into the store. I usually wait till I get over 150 to print, they give quantity discounts. I have made 8x10's from there with good quality results. "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson
Members Matt Tucker Posted October 25, 2007 Members Posted October 25, 2007 I have to disagree. Once you get some photos printed at an actual photo printing place, you will never take them to a Walmart or Walgreens again. Granted, 5x7 and smaller are generally fine from either. But if I am going with 8x10 or anything larger I go with an online print house. I have used White Hous Custom Colour (http://www.whcc.com/ )and Mpix.com (http://www.mpix.com) with success. Also pay attention to the type of paper they use. I am a big fan of the Metallic paper at Mpix. --Matt Tucker =================================================== The pursuit of Ozark trout on the fly. http://www.OzarkChronicles.com ===================================================
Members Chuck Gardner Posted October 25, 2007 Members Posted October 25, 2007 Hi Phil, These are a couple of places which pros use for their large format printing: White House Custom Color: http://www.whcc.com/ Elco Color: http://www.elcocolor.com/poster_special.htm White House will first have you send some files for testing as part of setting up an account prior to doing any large printings. They also have very good info on their site. If you have any questions or want help editing the files shoot me an e-mail. Chuck
Rolan Duffield Posted October 26, 2007 Posted October 26, 2007 Phil: I highly recommend Custom Color in Kansas City. They are a quality custom photo finishing plant. www.customcolor.com Phone:816-474-3200 Best regards, Rolan
Fish Bork Posted December 18, 2007 Posted December 18, 2007 Lawrence Photo in Springfield is very good and the Matte prints look SOOOO much better than the glossy you get at Wal-Mart Time flies like an arrow. Fruit flies like a banana.
taxidermist Posted December 22, 2007 Posted December 22, 2007 Lawerance in Sgf. I cannot seem to get a good pic from Wally world, everytime you can see the pixels on the print. So I tried Walgreens 100% better, just the other day while in SGF I dropped the download off at Lawerance, same print and wow the difference is worth the extra drive and effort. I dont like matte prints as I feel you loose details. Plus you can choose so other papers at Lawerance.
