brittsnbirds Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 Last year at BSSP they had campground 5 open for the catch and release season. You were on the honor system to pay. Not too many people were aware of it as I was the only one in the entire campground several times. Does anyone know if they are opening one of the campgrounds this season since campground 1 isn't finished?
snagged in outlet 3 Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 Not sure what they are going to do. I know they are booked solid this weekend. I'm going to try Fort Ninagua. I talked to the guy on the phone and it sounds good. Shelter, fire ring and electric on a riverfront site. Here's the number for the park, 417-532-4338. I love cool weather camping. SIO3
brittsnbirds Posted October 26, 2007 Author Posted October 26, 2007 I guess I could call Eric at the shop and find out. Never camped at Ft. Niangua. Is it as nice as the park?

hfdhoosier Posted October 31, 2007 Posted October 31, 2007 I was trying to get a site at BSSP for Nov 9-11. My wife called the BSSP office and was told that half of campground 1 is open but all the sites were already taken. She was told that there are 7 first come first serve, I beleive in campground 1 but the other campgrounds are closed. Doesnt sound like campground 5 is open this winter. My wife talked to Jim Rodgers. He did open up an extra motel room for us at $72 a night, with kitchenette. He did say a cabin was also open that w/end for $108 a night. Id say make sure to call before going to see what they have available. Thought this might help anyone planning on going to BSSP for catch and release this winter. snagged in outlet 3 Posted November 1, 2007 Posted November 1, 2007 Thanks for the link MSU. I didn't get down there this past weekend and I'm glad now. These are the things that make this site great. Hey Hoosier, I think the first weekend always books up because of the OFF's and deer hunters. I've been to the CnR opener with OFF every year since it started and can't go this year. After the first two weekends it calms down a bit. SIO3
