How far is the drive from Lilley's to the Beaver tailwater and is it worth doing for one of the days we will be there? Have never fished it so don't really know how to get there. Any advice would be appreciated.

In my opinion, Beaver tailwaters are the step child of Arkansas White River system, and won't hold a feather to Taneycomo, Bull Shoals, or Norfork. My guess is from Branson, you're looking at a solid two hours or more. Basically, there's no easy way to get to Beaver except round-about through the country. Unless the family wants to visit Eureka Springs, I'd look at Bull Shoals, Norfork, or just stay put on Taneycomo.

One hour from the dam at taney to Beaver tailwaters. While I would agree that the fish are not of the same quality as the other White River tailwaters the fishing is a different story. Each of the tailwaters has there good points and bad, that being said, for numbers and quality of fish I'll take Taney anyday. If you're like me it's not always about numbers or size and Beaver offers some beautiful scenic shorelines with far less pressure than the other tailwaters as a general rule. Generation here is also slightly more predictable than Taney in my opinion. If you find generation at Taney and want to try something different you might check generation at Beaver. While you might not set the world on fire you will enjoy the slower pace and scenic beauty of the river. If you go I would recommend light flouro (7x) and small midges 18-20 drifted under the smallest indicator you can get by with. Good place to start anyway.

I'll second that. Beaver tailwater is home for me, and I love it. If you're only interested in size, then I'd stay elsewhere. BTW does have some hogs down here, but they're few and far between. The average fish is definitely smaller, but once you learn the river you'll get some high-number days.

One thing I will say about fishing Beaver: it will teach you to mend and get a drag free drift! Otherwise you're stuck with stockers all day.

How far from Taney to Roaring River? I'd rather fish there than Beaver Tailwaters.

No offense to the guys that have learned the Beaver Tailwater, but for the average Joe White River below Bull Shoals has bigger fish and higher numbers.
