Danoinark Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 Gosh- now you drug one of the admins into the fray.... what will we do now? :) Glass Has Class "from the laid back lane in the Arkansas Ozarks"

Project Healing Waters Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 If the goal is to buy threatened Ozarks property to preserve it for the public trust, there are several EXISTING and CREDIBLE organizations you can do that through: The Nature Conservancy, Trout Unlimited, Ducks Unlimited, and an array of conservation charities have land programs. There are a couple specific to Missouri as well. There is no reason to re-invent the wheel...unless there's some ulterior motive involved (like...perhaps...one of those "leadership consulting fees" or something). http://www.projecthealingwaters.org
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted January 3, 2008 Root Admin Posted January 3, 2008 kid- How would this be different than the organizations Ken has mentioned?
Members OzarkKid07 Posted January 3, 2008 Author Members Posted January 3, 2008 Well, that's a great question. To be honest, I didn't even know that there were organizations that do that. I knew the government does that. I'd have to know what those organizations do EXACTLY and how they are set up concerning governing officials and their decision-making process for growth and changes. If you guys have some of this info, feel free to share it. I'm certainly going to do some research on those organizations and see what ideas I can get. If they are in line with what I have in mind then I will just add to the mix of some great organizations. If they are different, then I will explain to you how so and why. Michael J. Mooney IV Center Director Brain Balance of Edwardsville "Ohhh, you thought we were on vacation!? Sorry honey, this is a FISHING TRIP! Welcome to the family."
Project Healing Waters Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 I can't believe I forgot the International Hunting Land Association. I was a founding member and the first EVP of the board of directors. But they've never targeted land in the Ozarks. http://www.projecthealingwaters.org
Daddy Carp Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 On this conservation forum, there have been many interesting points made through open discussion based on research, personal opinion and experiences and heart-felt ideas for improving our environment and lives. I myself was caught up in extended discussion of the credibility, agenda and resultant specifics of particular org. or groups. This is not all bad as it can give for a better understanding of the specific org. We should probably do the in-depth research and grilling on a different forum or medium if possible. I think that the main points presented here have been the organizations that are working towards the conservation goals, who, where and how. They may not all be doing everything proper but I’m sure that most will accomplish some positive progress towards helping the environment. The main thing we need to be sure of and monitor is that we have checks/balances in place that can prevent or halt any of these actions that become detrimental. RE: During all wars, the ENEMY even was allowed often to continue building a plant, airstrip or bridge while we secretly monitored. This was done to best use their manpower and resources rather than expend our own that were on other necessary projects. They were allowed to continue their project until it became a threat or detriment. We then would stop them and take over utilize what they had accomplished to the benefit of forwarding our goals. Not saying any of these orgs. Are the enemy, but you get the idea, should they prove or turn in a detrimental direction. The main thing is each is doing something in a positive manner. If not, then it’s time for curtailment and open ridicule. I hope we can continue getting new, fresh and original ideas on here. We are not even close to problem solving and all input and ideas towards solution and resolve I certainly welcome and appreciate. This will be another resolution for me this year, “I will try harder to stay on task”! Yes Phil, I know that’s # 3.999 for me, but I need them probably more than most! LOL God Bless & have a great day………….D.C.
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted January 3, 2008 Root Admin Posted January 3, 2008 "# 3.999 for me" Sorry- not sure what you mean. What did I miss?
Daddy Carp Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 "# 3.999 for me" Sorry- not sure what you mean. What did I miss? With all that I probably should hone, change or cease, I made 3,998 resolutions on New Years day! LOL
