Trav Posted January 4, 2008 Posted January 4, 2008 The Bass were definatley not clinging to structure today. Found all 9 that I caught hovering off secondary channel points and deep. Reminded me of Tablerock in the Summer. (without the warm breeze and jet skis) I also didnt find more than 2 in one spot. They were very scattered but that isnt too unusal for here. Had to make em mad to catch them though. Fire tiger in both red and yellow were the options for the day. "May success follow your every cast." - Trav P. Johnson
snagged in outlet 3 Posted January 4, 2008 Posted January 4, 2008 Man you're killing me Trav! You fish like I work. I need to change something. I figure I fished probably 25-30 times last year. Granted most were all day since I don't get to go very often, but dam dude. I love the reports but it's killing me to think of all the days on the water you put in. How about next week you travel for my job and I hit the water every day? I used to fish Taney for bass with a guy named Al Alfotis(sp?), ever heard of him? I rented a boat once from the dock in old town Branson and the guy looks at my rods and says those trout don't like those big baits and thick string you got there. You better look up somebody to show you how to catch fish. I smiled and said I'll be fine. SIO3
Trav Posted January 4, 2008 Author Posted January 4, 2008 Haha I rarely fish all day. Usually average 3 to 5 hours at a time. 3 to 5 times a week. I logged in over 2000 hours in 07. Thats unusually high compared to the 3 previous years. Sorry if it appears I have nothing better to do with my time. Haha. I just have the luxury of living on the lake and my boat is in the water year round. I am semi-retired at a spry enough age, so no time clock to punch. I think most anyone in my position would take advantage. Plus I spent a better part of a decade in the fishing industry so hitting the lake is more of a ritual/habit to me. Most the time I dont even make the decision to go, I just out-of-habit end up migrating through my day with fishing being what beer-thirty is to others. Just sometimes my fish-thirty starts when I wake up, and sometimes its after lunch or even after dinner in the summertime. Hope when you retire you get to do the same. Members alletec Posted January 4, 2008 Members Posted January 4, 2008 Trav, I agree with SIO3. Reading your reports makes me hurt all over. You have the right idea about fishing since the earth is 2/3's water and 1/3 land God intended man to fish twice as much as he works, or something like that. I have done quite a bit of bass fishing on Tany my self in the past three years. I manly go for trout in the winter and bass in the hot summer months. My Father-In-Law thinks I am crazy to bass fish a trout lake but in the summer the trout can be lathargic and not bite like the bass. I will keep reading your reports and working tword the days when my daily ritual is fishing. Keep up the good work. Jeff Alley
