Thom Posted January 5, 2008 Posted January 5, 2008 SIO: Where I fish for Speckled Trout and Redfish in Texas on the salt flats between Port Aransas and Aransas Pass they actually do use a small "boat" with a sail to get to the holes from the bank. Some of the locals get on the windward side of the intercostal or flats and float a rig out with lines attached with live bait. I don't know how they know when to pull it in but they come back to their pick ups with stringers of Specks and Reds to take home. I catch a few but can only wade out to the waist of my waders which is sometimes a long way from the shore. On the intercostal you can't wade out to far or when the big ships come through their wake will knock you over before you can get back to shore. Wading out usually spook the Reds but the specks are less wary. Thom Harvengt
