Members jackaroe22677 Posted January 24, 2008 Members Posted January 24, 2008 Dear Admin, First of all, this site is great. I really appreciate all the work you and some the more prolific posters put into it. I've learned quite a bit by reading the valuable info. posted here. I was, however, somewhat upset to find no forum for the St. Francis River. I have grown up fishing this river and I think its as good a fishery or better than many of the others posted here. A majority of my time is spent on this river, so unfortunately I don't have much to add to the other forums. Anyway, keep up the good work, I'll keep returning to the forum regardless. Thanks Again, Paul
Danoinark Posted January 24, 2008 Posted January 24, 2008 I bet Phil will take a look at it and give it some consideration. Thanks for the suggestion. Dano Glass Has Class "from the laid back lane in the Arkansas Ozarks"
Terry Beeson Posted January 25, 2008 Posted January 25, 2008 "The Kahlua colored waters of the St Francis River..." I know it's much nicer upstream... But I have seen some nice big cats come out of the lower part... and the duck hunting is great!!! Members jackaroe22677 Posted January 26, 2008 Author Members Posted January 26, 2008 "The Kahlua colored waters of the St Francis River..." Thats nice, I haven't heard that. I've only really fished the upper St. Francis - specifically the part in Madison Co. - and a little bit in Lake Wappapello. The water upstream is quite clean and clear. The smallmouth bass fishing is incredible. I've consistently caught fish up to 20in. The goggle-eye and crappie fishing is also excellent, esp. in the spring. Like you said Terry, there are big catfish both above and below the lake. I would highly recommend a float on the upper portion. Thanks, Paul
Danoinark Posted January 26, 2008 Posted January 26, 2008 I assume Mr. Beeson you are talking about the catfish infested section which runs through Lake City, Ar I actually ate some fish out of that portion. Ever eat Buffalo....tastes like Chicken.....hehehe Glass Has Class "from the laid back lane in the Arkansas Ozarks"
brownieman Posted January 26, 2008 Posted January 26, 2008 The St. Francis is a really cool river...probably some of the best shut-ins in the state. Some of the kayak championships are held at Millstream Gardens...if the water conditions are right it's well worth watching. bm My friends say I'm a douche bag ?? Avatar...mister brownie bm <><
Gavin Posted January 26, 2008 Posted January 26, 2008 WW championships are usually on the 3rd weekend in March..definitely worth the trip..So is the 1 lb Cheeseburger and pepper fries at Cherokee Pass.
Members jackaroe22677 Posted January 26, 2008 Author Members Posted January 26, 2008 I love Cherokee Pass. Paul
Terry Beeson Posted January 28, 2008 Posted January 28, 2008 Dano, That was a quote from a radio commercial in Jonesboro for Mr T's Liquor Store in Cardwell, MO... "located on Highway 412, just across the Kahlua colored waters of the St. Francis River in Cardwell, Missouri..." Yep, I know the upper region is a really nice river, but downstream it is a muddy mess. And, yep, Dano, I've had a piece of catfish or two from there... as well as some duck... As for carp... it's been a few years, but I've had some carp that I must say tasted just like chicken... or goat... or armadillo... I can't decide... Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted January 28, 2008 Root Admin Posted January 28, 2008 I'll add it. I do need a description though if someone wants to write one.
