Nothing meant towards anyone...just an observation from years of fishing.

I don't understand the animosity shown amoung fisherman for differing styles and techniques of fishing...some of it is all in good fun but too often it's on a serious note.

We all are enjoying the same thing, being outdoors and enjoying a hobby we all love.

Even if it's not my style I will do my best to help anyone that needs a hand. Health issues have kept me from the water for a while now...while fishing the other day I was just thankful to be able to wade the river again. Sometimes we take things for granted...don't realize what you have till it's gone, can be just the smallest things.

Really?? I think there is very little animosity between fly, bait, and spin fisherman. I just don't see it. On this board for instance with the exception of a few isolated incidents we get along very well.

I like spin fisherman to be honest. I have exchanged a few words with a couple, but that was more of a function of their personality than the equipment they were carrying. On both occasions they were wading and walked in about 15 feet downstream of me and further out into the river, basically standing right in the middle of my drift. Then they acted like i was intruding on them. Taney does a good job of keeping the powerbaiters and fly fisherman seperate, some other locations dont. I do find it very annoying to try and wade an area while some fat kid and his zebco effectively have the river cut in half with their high tension lines.

I think you can say the same for any other "groups" of people... race car enthusiasts and their favorite class of racing, guys and their make of cars, even beer drinkers slam each other over "more taste, less filling". Republicans and Democrats... guys and gals... the list goes on.

People and people, regardless of likes and dislikes and they all interact differently. We try to get along but and most of the time we do. But sometimes we just love being grumpy... we feel we have the right to be I guess.

Gee Jerod, what's wrong with fat kids.... ;)

I love to fly fish, but I am not beyond fishing with a lt spin rig for trout or any other species. I certainly enjoy fishing with my young grandson who has not been able to get the hang of the long rod, but he loves casting his spinning gear, bubble, and fly. There certainly is no disdain from me with the spinning community. There is a place for all of it.

There was a lot of sarcasm and humor in that statement of mine. I hope it reads that way.

I don't know if this was mentioned but weather spin-fishing or fly-fishing a good pair of polarized glasses is a MUST!

I wear CastOvers. Since I am blind without my glasses they fit really good over my specs. Takes little getting used to and I think I payed 20 bucks for them.
