ryan Posted February 7, 2008 Posted February 7, 2008 My folks live in Poplar bluff MO and there has been a mountain lion around their house for about 4 years. The neighbor down the road called conservation and they came out and looked around and said basically don't worry they are a very elusive animal. My mother saw it cross the road about a year ago, I have seen its tracks down by the creek where I bow hunt.
drew03cmc Posted February 7, 2008 Posted February 7, 2008 According to MDC, 95+% of all reported "cougar" spottings end up being bobcats, yet I do not know how the hell one confuses these two creatures. I recall in the Conservationist last year or in 06 sometime there was an article on this very matter and there were only like 7 confirmed cougars in the state in 30 years or so, so all of these supposed cougar locations are just that..."supposed". I need to see photographic proof. Andy

Members Ffer Posted October 17, 2008 Members Posted October 17, 2008 Has anyone else gotten this e-mail. My buddy Charles sent this to me. He is a good ol boy but very "net savvy". The e-mail says..... "Here is a photo of a cougar killed in steeleville, mo. the guy who shot it is 6 foot tall and weighs about 220 lbs. he was in a deer stand and saw the cat pass him downwind. he then saw it pass him upwind. When the cat passed him again (closer this time) downwind, he knew that it was hunting him?so, boom. After viewing this, do you still feel safe in the woods?" I think I'm calling BS... care to vote?

Members Growler Posted October 17, 2008 Members Posted October 17, 2008 brownieman, my girlfriend had the same thing happen to her. Deer ran full blast into the drivers side of her Jimmy. Crunched the side of her fender and broke the mirror, but didn't (thankfully) break the glass. Scared her bad. Stop at a stop sign...look left...look right...BAM! Me, I'm waiting to see Bigfoot someday. G
