catman Posted March 2, 2008 Posted March 2, 2008 I had a 1993 Chevy Suburban, sold it in 2001 with 575,000 miles on it with no problems with it. The guy that bought it is still driving it. Hard to beat the old 350 Chevy motor, mine would burn 1 quart of oil between oil changes. I was born at night, but not last night. Odds are with the prepared...
Trav Posted March 2, 2008 Posted March 2, 2008 I have a 93 4x4 Silverado King Cab , V8 454 and Mtn Towing Package with the beefed up diff. Bought it in 03 with 130k. Since I bought it I have had the tranny rebuilt, and put in a new starter. It now is pushing 160k and is running like a top. I really cant tell what has been replaced prior to my buying it though. The truck is super clean, including the engine, wich looks like brand new. It does burn that quart of oil between changes and I gets 18 mpg highway/14 mpg in town. But it does hold 40 gallons of gas with both tanks full. I think I spent about 110 dollars to fill it up last. "May success follow your every cast." - Trav P. Johnson
mhall02 Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 18 MPG highway with a 454 with a beefed up diff and a 4 X 4? Wow, you must have an extremely light foot and drive less than 60 mph. Those Chevy V-8s are very reliable, good to see someone get past 1,000,000 miles on something that is not made in Europe.
mclothier1 Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 How about a million mile van... Million mile van original engine and trans with NO rebuilds !!
gonefishin Posted March 8, 2008 Posted March 8, 2008 Just think if he bought this van brand new; to drive 1,000,000 miles in 11 years he had to drive 250 miles every single day since he bought it. No weekends off, no holidays or vacations, no sick days, no break down days - just drive 250 miles every single day. And how bout the gas bill!?!?!? YIKES. I would rather be fishin'. mclothier1 Posted March 17, 2008 Posted March 17, 2008 Well if you browse his mileage reports, it looks like he drives 1000 miles every two or three days, its also some kind of delivery service, so I can imagine its real. Oh its also for sale..... only $1 per mile! lol Maybe Ford should buy it back. Gas... lets see 1,000,000 miles and lets say he averages 15 mpg (probably less) so thats 66,666 gallons at todays price of $3.15 which comes out to $210,000.00 Double Yikes!!!
CaptainT16 Posted March 20, 2008 Posted March 20, 2008 I have a 92 Ford Explorer and she is about ready to pass 301,000 miles. Still runs like a charm. I've put in 2 transmisions, but that has been it really. Still love er to death!
