Don Posted February 10, 2008 Posted February 10, 2008 Now the time is coming when alot of good stuff is on sale and I'm flat broke. Oh, wait a minute, did you say you would take a check? Don May Don May I caught you a delicious bass.
Terry Beeson Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 Reminds me of my cousin's daughter who learned how to write checks in the third grade. That afternoon, she came to my dad's store and loaded the counter with candy and bubble gum. Now remember - this was the early 70s and you still had "counter checks" (blank checks printed by the bank with their information, but no account information.) Well, she just wrote a check for her candy and gum. My dad was a soft touch, especially when it came to her. Her dad was like a son to him. So he let her pay for her candy with her check. Well, an hour or so later, her mom brought her back with the candy and an apology. My dad just laughed. She still remembers that today. Do you have blank counter checks at the store, Michael? troutchaser Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 You know, this reminds me of when I was a little kid. The local store called Roy & Ray's Pic-n-Pay closed, then reopened as just Pic-n-Pay. For the grand reopening, they had sodas and ice cream half price all day long. For two weeks, I was saving every bit of allowance, I sold my GI Joe to my kid brother for $3.00, and I scoured the local church parking lot for coins. I had so much fun with that! My friends and I rode up to that store and spent half of our money that morning, drank our sodas and rode around until the afternoon. Then we went back and spent the rest of it on ice cream and sat in front of the store in the shade and ate it all. This is kinda like that. I'm just chompin' at the bit for Saturday. I've made a list of stuff to buy and I'm going with some of my friends. Heck, we may even go twice! Paul Rone
