  1. First one I was 1 for 1, went down hill after that ;).
  2. Think she's just sticking her tongue out at me just to be a knuckle head, crazy pup.
  3. Thought we'd see more hoping birds were pushing with the front but it wasn't so. Very few birds seen but did manage to harvest a mixed bag "couples" limit, mallards, shovlers, and bluebill drakes and hens. Good morning to be out non the less with a good friend.
  4. Disregard, duplicate post and cant figure out how to delete it ;).
  5. ....... even it's not what they are designed for. Perfect height on the trailer to be used to fillet crappie and blugills, bigger fish I may need to strap a board to it ;). Started trolling the drop off channel edge from the K dock ramp on up about a mile before heading up lake and sinking some minnows. Had a few short hits and caught 3 spots in the 12 to 15 inch range while trolling. Only was only able to stay out a few hours and managed bring home 8 crappie and 1 bluegill. Water temp 55.5 and all fish were caught in the 10 to15 ft range in 15 to 20 fow. Only could catch 2 out of each school and then they'd get tight lip, move onto the next school and same deal. Caught 3 on 1/16 oz jighead tipped with a live minnow and slow rolling back to the boat and had several hit but couldn't get a good hook set. The rest were caught under a float set at 12 to 15 ft.
  6. Absolutely beautiful day to spend a few hours on the water and drown a couple dozen minnows. Fished between k dock and beaver targeting Crappie and managed to put 5 in the livewell and lost atleast 10 either at the boat or in the brush and 4 bull blugills. Focused on chunk rock banks fishing minnows in 12 to 15 fow. Water temp was 55.7. Little windy to start but manageable in the tin tank. Released the 5 back to be caught another day and was blessed with a awsome sunset for the boat ride back to the ramp.
  7. Congrats on a awsome season now onto the ducks, if they ever show up ;). Hope to run into you sometime this season, what boat do I need to keep an eye out for ;).
  8. Got quite a few off looks as well ;).
  9. I haven't seen very many with the lower jaw done, just wanted to see how doable it was and it really wasn't the bad. The biggest issue I had was realigning the 2 lower jaw front halves to match up evenly into the sockets behind the eyes.
  10. Looking good Seth. Did you just use the 40 volume creme or did you mix it with the whitener powder and make a paste like I did? Thinking of just trying just the creme next time to see it will work.
  11. Thank you, Guess it helped being stuffed up with allergies ;).
  12. Start out by saying it was more of a waterfowl scouting trip but did do some trolling along the way. Caught a few crappie and bass and one 17 inch walleye. Trolling in 18 to 25 fow with #7 flicker shad. Best hits came on the light blue and white with chartreuse but caught a few on the rainbow trout pattern as well on chunk rock transition banks. Biggest catch of the day, the branch the was totally crusted with Zebra mussels.
  13. Thank you for the response Wrench. Cheap and easy enough fix. Wasn't rubbing the prop and didnt notice any difference in performance that I could tell while I was out.
  14. That's what I've always done to mine in the past. The fun part was lining up and attaching both halves of the dang lower jaw and trying to match up the front teeth in the correct holes. The front to were no-brainers the smaller ones were a little more of a hassel. Funny you mentioned the bobcat I just happened to have found one this week that is going to be my next euro protect.
  15. Thank you, the smell wasn't too bad but than again i was stuffed up so couldn't smell much anyways ;).
  16. Got done fishing this afternoon and tightening down the transom staps when I notice a white plastic ring protruding from the prop shaft housing. Didn't spin freely and didn't come out any further than it was already. Pushed it back it and felt it clip back into place. Did alittle reasearch to figure out what it is and it's a cheap ($3) fix but is common problem, my question is is this something I should be concerned about or is it Ok to run if pops out like that?
  17. Done euro mounts before, either boiled or buried, but never went to the extent of whitening and finishing that I did on this one. Boiled it, pressure washed it, picked it, re-soaked in hot water with dawn dish soap to degrease and then rinsed again, bleached with a 40 volume peroxide gel and whitener for 60 hours and then brushed and rinsed off, glued front teeth back in and secured the lower jaw back on with 2 part clear gorilla glue epoxy. Overall I'm pleased with the way it turned out, will say tho I'll probably just do a peroxide soak instead of the paste mixture. Preping for the pot. Deer head stew boiled up. Rinsed and degreased. Whitening process. Whitener brushed and rinsed. The finished product with the lower jaw reattached.

    Bucked out!!!!!

Thanks Ketchup. It's the only rifle I have ever taken deer with and one of my boys knows that he is getting it next when the time is right, aka when I get my first grand child, to continue the tradition ;).
  19. Hate to see this but good for them for doing the right thing. One of the first things I preached to my kids was identify your target before you put your finger on the trigger.

    Bucked out!!!!!

On tags that is, still have a antlerless rifle and guess now 2 antlerless archery tags left ;). 5 sits in the past 3 days (2 mornings and 3 late afternoons) in the Pumpkin Patch camo and finally decided to let grandpa's ol' J.C Higgins model 50 .30-.06 with the original Weaver scope bark last night. Was covered up in deer, does and spikes and a 6pt, for about 45 minutes before this 8 pt stepped into the field and presented me with a shot at 59 yds. Spun a 180 when he was hit and ran 50 yds before literally hitting a fence and flipping over it into a dry creek bottom where he landed into his final resting place. Not one of the one I've been after but after hearing numerous shots from neighboring properties, didn't wasn't to pass on a decent buck for down here. Inherited the rifle years ago and label with his name on it has been on it since the 70's and that's where it's going to stay.
  21. Congrats and way to stay with it.
