  1. Great info guys!!! thanks for sharing. I've had some success with the Ned rig from time to time, but I might as well rap my line around a stick and throw it as a jerk or stick bait!! Thanks for the tutorial!! I'll have to cut and paste this until I can put it to use (bad memory)!
  2. Sorry guys...and gals. I was a little put out buy the post, guess its the cloudy cold weather and staying inside as chief cook and bottle washer right now. We have a house on the upper Kings and we are very familiar with that part of the lake down to Viola due to the limits of the pontoons plodding speed. We don't really have trouble identifying fish and it's going to be a lot easier with the electronics on the new bass boat. Where we run into problems is not knowing the right bait and presentation. We used to get tired of casting and then just troll with the pontoon. We want to change that and that's why I spend so much time on OA. I'm trying to be a sponge on types of baits and techniques and identifying a decent presentation for the various times of the year. Unfortunately, I believe the best teacher is going to be trial and error along with as much time on the water as possible. We are not hard core fishermen in that 3 or 4 hours on the water is about all we do.........that might change once we get better!! But right now with limited skills and time on the water I don't think I have anything of value to contribute to this site right now other to say "nice job on the catching" and I do appreciate the value of the knowledge that is shared on how to catch fish on the site!! Happy New Year everyone!!!
  3. I guess I'm a troll. I was on the page when the post came out. My wife and I fished from our pontoon for the last 5 years and never really caught much of anything as much as numbers or size. Then we hired Bill B this spring and my wife caught a 6+ pound bass on her second cast. We went out the next morning way up the Kings and using the techniques Bill showed us and she caught a 3 1/2 pound LM. Cost me a bass boat we bought late this Sept and additional tackle which I see posted here from time to time. We both read the posts to try and learn how to be better fishermen, not to try and "identify fishing spots". We had talked about the tournament this March since it doesn't cost anything and we thought it would be fun, if my wife has recovered from surgery enough to go, but now I don't think we try to make it because it would be obvious that we are outsiders and don't know enough to make the trip worthwhile.
  4. I'd look at them at BP and get the biggest screen I could for the money. The bigger screens are easier for my old eyes. I'm just waiting for them to come out with one that shows me which fish are hungry!! Merry Christmas to all !!!
  5. Generally, States/Counties recognize the location of the PP on Jan 1st of each year as being the determining factor on charging the tax. That is, if the boat is in Barry county on Jan 1st then PP taxes would be due Barry county. They don't care where you spend the most time other than they want to make sure they know where to send the tax bill. I have a house and my boats in Shell Knob and they send me the tax bills to my KS address......at least they will until my wife retires!!!
  6. 1X^. Very helpful. I just transferred a boat I bought in Ks an it cost around $82 to register and tag it. Taxes are low!
  7. I will be in Cassville Friday. Would like to try a few myself!! Can you tell me where?
  8. Thanks Bill. Great job on what I thought would be an "iffy" day for fishing. I just have to say that Karen threw to the spot I planned to cast to and beat me to that fish ; >) !! I think half the world has seen that picture now. She's very proud of it and what we learned paid off this morning when she caught an 18" LM........and yes she beat me again!!
