A friend of mine, Ed Doiron, Jr, posted these photos of the current water level on the North Fork of the White River. The photos were taken from the bridge just below Dawt Mill......

She's roll'n...

If I'd known I was gonna live this long, I would have taken better care of myself...

Its ugly, but the fish survive. Somehow.

What does this sort of thing do to the water temps? What are max water temps that trout can survive in?

Sorry to hijack your thread, but those pics peaked my curiosity-

Let's say hypothetically you were in a canoe not paying attention. Only to look up 200 yds before you got to that bridge.

Water is too fast to stop your forward movent, so you know you would be headed straight for it.

What would you do?

I think I would bail out of the canoe, and try my best to go underwater and swim underneath it. But what if you had a lifejacket on? That most certainly would not be an option.

I'd paddle into an eddy on river left. MDC's Patrick Aceess is right there. Our bump the bridge and hop out on top. You won't go under unless you panic and flip.

I was down there yesterday and McKee bridge is washed out on the West side, something I have not seen in the 30 years I have been going down there. My son who guides on the river says it will be rebuilt by the rich people who live on the West side and rely on the bridge to get to West Plains.

With the current running, you would steer to the eddy and bank. You should never bail out under those conditions.....
