  1. 97trout, Very good question. I would suggest 2 sizes larger on the boot. Reason is, thick socks, or multiple pairs, help keep your feet warm. If your feet are warm, you body will remain warm. I found this out first hand this past weekend. I left my thick pair of socks in my room and only had a thin pair of ankle socks so my feet got cold and I was cold during the day. The night before I fished till 2 AM and had the thick socks and another pair of socks and stayed very toasty. If you see that later you want to get a pair that fit better and use them only in the summer, by all means do that. Happy to help, but that is just my opinion. Russ
  2. What a time I had. First time to night fish Taney, and I loved it. To bad the fish didn't cooperate. I caught one on a black egg sucking leach below Rebar. My brother caught two on a Leonard Special purple leach, I think. Then Leonard gave us a fishing leason. Just about the time I decided I am getting to old to fish till 2:00 AM, Leonard caught three browns in less than five minutes. He sure does know his stuff. It was good to finally meet you. Did I say it was cold, and windy. Try throwing a new rod at night with the wind, and not getting any wind knots. I am bragging about this, because today I had two. I had to laugh. I fished from below #2 to Big Hole. I was only able to land four fish, all on black foam beetle, and a Adams Parachute. Biggest Rainbow was a 17" beauty. What colors. Sorry, no photos. I had many, many strikes, but few hookups. My brother caught his on a Prim Rose and Pearl. We had a great time. Kansas Fly Fisher, and Dano, sorry we didn't get to meet. There is always next time. It will probably be next year before I am able to make it back down. I hope not though. Phil, you have a great place. Cannot wait to return.
  3. Welcome to the board LMW. And I am glad you found her. Catching your first fish solo, will trump a search party anytime.
  4. cpriest is correct about lawn casting. It is great practice, and you also give your neighbors something to think about. I would stay off the pavement, a lesson learned the hard way.
  5. I just heard this on the news...Man found dead, floating in area lake with a two foot section of fly rod sticking out of the back of his head, and waders wrapped tightly around his neck. Authorities have no clue, as to who he is. If you have any information in this matter, to please contact Terry Beeson, because he will be very upset he wasn't able to post this first... haha joke.
  6. Terry B, You just lost your title. That has to be the #1 post of the year. Congratulation SIO3. You are now the most dramatic poster to date.
  7. And I thought I could buy you with food. You are wrong about, half. My guess would be you are off by $499,985.00. At least that was what the last dinner of frog legs cost me. BIG
  8. What is it?
  9. Terry, whats it going to take, to get you to exit left, please? A deep fried pair of frog legs, or a ...
  10. All I can say is, hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha But not to the last post of Griffin. You are right about that.
  11. Wasn't there something stated somewhere about boiling the leaders? And, I think that boiling them takes away the memory. It's late and I could be wrong though.

  15. Try here http://www.midmotu.org/links.htm Good to have you here, and welcome. There is a lot of great information here, so enjoy. BTW, if you need anyone to show you the ropes fishing the White River System, hint, hint, wink, wink, I can go, and suggest a few guides.
  16. swinslow, Phil told me it was a skin's issue and it should be up today sometime.
  17. It can break their jaws, would be my guess. They are not as strong as say, a Bass.
  18. That is just as funny as the time I tried a dog shock collar on to see what kind of jolt she would get when she would run rabbits. Needless to say, she kept chasing rabbits, and I was gun shy of electric fences, and collars. Congratulation on your new addiction. One of the best one's you could have. Just don't hide your goody's from the spouse. The repercussion from that alone is not worth that. BTW...Speaking from experience. Unless of course, she has a lot of shoe's in the closet. I concur with Terry, join a fly fishing club. Some of the best information can be gathered from there. Not to mention the friendships you will gain.
  19. I am just glad they didn't have one that listed weight.
  20. Jay, your best bet would be to call this number 417-336-5083 When I make a trip down I call several times on the way. But, I also watch the charts and see if there is a pattern to their madness. HTH
  21. Now that was funny.
  22. In our area the moto is vote first and often. I won't say what political party says that, but dead folks should not be allowed to vote. Voter ID, you better believe it.
  23. It works great in Tennessee too.
  24. Found this researching: http://www.gomoose.com/how_old.html
  25. Dave, It would be like the blind leading the blind. But, if you have never done it, I would be happy to show you what I know. Keep in mind, bad habits are easy to teach as well. See if you can make it the weekend of Nov. 10-12. Will be there then, no sure about Thanksgiving weekend. Dave, It would be like the blind leading the blind.
