  1. I've heard never to use the traps cause they attract all the jap beetles to your yard from miles around. the best way to get rid of them is to spray. SK
  2. curious what the lake level is like currently on the upper end -- any useable ramps with decent parking? K-dock? Beaver? thanks in advance for the info! SK
  3. eat it AND put it on the wall! :-) Great catch!!! SK

    Stripers

thanks! the vids are fun to put together! we are still learning, takes time and patience for sure. We often use golden shiners and brooders and they work well...the bigger the better. Shad are preferable tho most of the time if you can get them. Barnett's pawn shop in Garfield has brooders sometimes, often they are too small though. Perch work well when the stripers are shallow on the banks, not so much as they move deeper.

    Stripers

This time of year you are likely going to do best from pt 5 up to the dam. From about 4am until 9am, then again in the late evening, or even at night. With as clear as the lake is, the shad are tough or impossible to net in Beaver, unless you find them at night. Sometimes you can find them in the river areas around hickory creek. Coming from OK, you are better off bringing them over if you have a way to keep them alive. We will be down this weekend trying it out as well. Good luck to you! SK
  8. they are legal, we use them regularly SK
  9. how's cape fair looking so far this week? would a guy be able to launch/park there yet? Looking to try to net some shad for bait. ty, SK
  10. Wildlife Creations at BassPro does a fantastic job -- and they're replicas are less $ than skin mounts! Great catch on that bass!! Wow what a hawg!!! SK
  11. we killed the stripers in the 08 flood fishing right up next to the trees with live bait. Woods point and Hand coves. You should time it just right! we will be down at beaver lake at the same time using the same method. good luck to you guys!! SK
  12. WOW!!!
  13. Got to put in my 2 cents! stripers are a big challenge to learn and can be a lot of work, but it is so much worth it when you hook into a fish that pulls out 150ft of line in a few seconds :-) out of that cool clean water they are up there with walleye as far as table fare goes, we keep the freezers stocked. I would love to see them put a few more in BSL as it would be a little closer to home and easier on the gas tank. here are some of our amateur videos to get the striper fever going (got to be careful not to add an extra T in there lol)...hope this weather warms up, we are ready to stretch some lines!! :-) SK fishing vids --once on the channel, click on 'see all' over to the right to show all the videos
