I fished about and hour and a half just before dark last night and did great for me. Had 2 keepers and 5 short ones. I fished one of the islands out in the dam area and fished shallow with a Pigsticker 3/8oz football jig. All Smallmouth and they were between two and 10 feet of water. The two keepers were in about 4 foot of water and hit the jig as soon as it hit the water.

Fishing has been a little tough the last couple of weeks. The Southwestern Power Administration has not been running generators most mornings but running about one during the afternoon occasionally. The water temperature is hovering around fifty one or fifty two degrees. The air temperature has been around one hundred almost every day. Fly fishing up in the trophy area has been possible almost every day because of the power generators not running. The fish have been eating a few different flies. Ants have been doing well when the fish are eating dries. Rainey's has an ant fly that is just hackle and a foam cylinder that has been working great. Midges have been working well as they do most of the time. Rusty, Primrose and Pearl or a Ruby Red midge have been the colors the fish have been hitting. These are fished under a Palsa on 6x or 7x tippet about eighteen inches deep. Below Fall Creek, out of the trophy area, worms blown up with air have been the ticket. These are fished on the bottom just like you would for catfish but the worm floats up just a little because of the air inside it. Orange and white Gulp or Powerbait has also been working well. If you are wanting to fish with a float Trout Magnets and marabou jigs are the best choices. If you are using a Trout Magnet any pinkish color will work and also Sassy, Bison, and Salmon Fix. These are fished about seven to eight feet deep under a Trout Magnet EZ Float with about 3 foot of Trout Magnet Phantom 6x or 7x tippet.

I went fishing yesterday for a little while just before dark. There was about half a generator running and the water was fairly clear. I fished from Short creek just down to Trout Hollow and caught just a few fish. I was using a Pink or Salmon Fix Trout Magnet about five foot deep under a Trout Magnet EZ Float with two for of the Trout Magnet Phantom 7x tippet. This setup works great!

I've been fishing the dam area the past couple of evenings and have had little success. I've caught most o tr fish on a drop shot in about 30ft of water and also just a few on a grub up in the docks. Any suggestions would be nice.

Had a good late afternoon fly fishing at Pointe Royale. There was no generation so my bro-in-law and I could get to our favorite spot down there. We fished for a couple of hours until sunset and caught plenty of fish but only a couple decent ones. We fished a Miracle Fly on 6x fluoro about 5 feet under a Palsa. At one point there was a pretty good current going upstream! My bro-in-law caught his first 20 inch fish and it was a female brown! After that fish we just caught a couple little ones a quit.

I had someone get a little upset with me because they were anchored in the narrow channel above fall creek where the tree hangs over and I had to go close to them so I would not tear up a prop!

I got out for a few hours yesterday for some fishing. The weather was sunny and hot, not a cloud in te sky. The Corps o Engineers was running just 1/2 of a generator for most of the day and then nothing in the evening. When there is just 1/2 of a generator running it is the perfect time to fish rapalas or streamers, but if you remeber to bring them unlike me! Since I didn't have those i stuck with the usual marabou jig in black or sculpin/ginger 1/8oz on my spinning rod and a Miracle Fly on my fly rod. When I was in deeper water I threw the jig and in the shallow water I used the fly rod catching fish n both all afternoon. We mainly fished from lookout down to fall creek. Later in the day I decided to go catch some bass up in Roark Creek. There are some monsters in there!! We caught a few of them on a watermelon red centipede, unweighted. Casting right up against the bank and then letting it fall to the bottom and reeling it back as slow as you can. I did see a couple of whites still way up in the creek but couldn't get themto hit anything.

Fishig was great! My dad and I got out there at about noon and there was no generators running and it was sunny with a light breeze. We fished from just above lookout bluff down to Fall Creek and caught fish the whole way. I started with a 1/100oz ginger jig and my dad was using a Y2K. We were both using fly rods with 5x fluorocarbon tippit under an idicator about five feet. As we got closer to Fall Creek te bite slowed so I switched to a Miracle Fly in yellow and it picked right up again. The weather did change a little too. Clouds cover came and the wind picked up which usually helps but the wind really picked up. It was nice to see the big schools of fish up there again and not just a few little schools. The fishing was great and we caught a lot of fish but nothing real big. While we were fishing one of our guides, Steve Dickey, was up in the same area. He was also using micro jigs but he didn't say what color. The were catching quite a few fish also.

10lb fluorocarbon. I have also used 4lb but i was afraid I would break it setting the hook. With the xrap you can use bigger because its moving fast.

I think they did 5000 of them earlier this year.

Fishing was awesome yesterday! My dad and I caught fish on everything we threw at them. The Corps was running about one generator and the weather was warm, cloudy with a little breeze, perfect for catching fish. We started out just above KOA and drifted all the way back down to Lilleys' Landing catching fish the whole was down. We started out throwing the X-Rap, size 8 in gold and caught just a few but mostly browns. Fishing this is easy but it wears you out. Just reel in fast jerking it along the way. We fished this down to Fall Creek. For the rest of the time we both fished a sculpin and ginger 1/8oz jig. We caught fish on this all the way to Lilleys' Landing. A good majority of the fish were around Short Creek and just down from the dock at Fall Creek on the bluff side. It didn't seem to matter to much though where we fished in the river because we caught fish out in the channel and along the banks. We would just cast out let it sink and bounce it off of the bottom keeping the line tight all the way back to the boat. We did catch about six browns through out the afternoon but nothing really big.

I was reeling it fast but jerking it along the way.

It was a great afternoon for brown fishing. At about 2pm the Corps kicked on 1 generator which is perfect for throwing Rapala's. I used a size 8 Rapala X-Rap gold i color. The browns love this thing. The flashing and suspending action of the lure is amazing. It dives about 3 feet below the surface perfect for 1 geneator. The weather was great for this too. When I got out there the clouds came over and a little wind kicked up making it a perfect time for this. I fished the area around fall creek from the chunk rock down to the Fall Creek dock. I also fished the bluff in front of Lilley's Landing and caught fish in both areas. We do have these in the shop a Lilleys' Landing if you are wanting to try this!

Fishing the last couple of days has been pretty fun for me. I have been trying out some new things up in the trophy area. The water generation has been almost perfect for what I have been trying. There have been one to three units rinning mot of the day. The weather has been nice for me but just average for the fish. It has been sunny and still. The main spots I have been hitting have been Lookout Bluff and the shoal just below the mouth of Fall Creek. I have been using an ultra light spinning rod with four pound Trilene XL throwing a Rapala X-Rap size 8 gold. Hitting the banks right up close and fishing the suspended jerk bait fast with abrupt stops. The trout are going nuts over this. I have seen more big fish this way than I have in a very long time. The raibows and browns are chasing this lure all the way to the boat almost everycast. When they hit it, it is a violent strike leaving no doubt that it is a fish.

I had a chance to fish for a couple of hours yesterday just before dark. There was four generators going and the weather was nice. Since I only had a couple of hours I decided to do some streamer fishing. I started on the south side right under the wire up by the dam. I worked that bank down to just above to Conservation Department boat ramp. I had a lot of chasers but no takers. For the last hour I ran back down to the bluff across from Lilleys’ Landing and fished that clear down to Cooper Creek. Again I had a lot of chasers but I did have a few hits and they were browns. I was fishing a #4 white Boogie Man on 150 grain sink tip line with 3x tippit. I was casting right up next to the bank and around as much structure as I could, getting the fly really tight to it. Most of the takes were hard and fast on the second or third strip.

March 3Rd, Attack Of Megadon, The White Mega Worm!
johndarin replied to duckydoty's topic in Upper Lake Taneycomo
I tried the worm the other day and it works great. -
I tried them all. Ignore Leonard he doesn't know how to fish at night.

The generation pattern has been great this past week. The Southwestern Power Administration and the Corps of Engineers has been sticking close to the projected schedule the put out for each day. There has been one to two generators running in the morning until about noon and the completely off until about six or seven in the evening. This has given everyone a chance to fish the water they like, on or off. I had a chance to do some night fishing Monday night. It was warm, calm, no generation, and the moon was full. Not the best conditions for night fishing. I took a friend, Elliot, who is from the UK for his first time night fishing on Taneycomo. We both fished small streamers, mainly wooly buggers, and caught a few fish. The fly he was using was similar to a white and chartreuse wooly but he called it a cat’s whisker. I was using just a plain ole’ black wooly bugger that had a little flash in it. On his first cast he caught his first Crappie. Although the fishing was a little tough it was a beautiful night. The next day, a very windy day, I went out with my Dad just above outlet two. I got out fished. He was catching them pretty steady and by the time I had finally got one in he already had about five or six. We were both using a Miracle Fly to begin with and then I switched to a #16 Rusty Midge. I did well on both flies but mostly small fish on the midge.

I love palsas. They are the best for fishing low water with nymphs. I just use water from the lake to get the sticky off.

We are all out of the cracklebakcs!! Thanks

I will be there, if I'm not working!! What would you like me to bring?

We had almost a full dock of fisherman today and most did very well. The fish were eating white Powerbait. Most of the fisherman caught their limit plus some!

Across from Lilleys Dock along the bank side

A customer just came in the office and they are catching more crappie than trout. They are using a 1/32oz white 1 1/2" crappie tube hitting the brush piles along the banks.
