Thanks dtrs5kprs, a lot of questions answered there.

Probably an ignorant question, but something I have bever understood, "creek" when speaking of lake fishing would be small creek arms such as rock creek near Big M correct?

Good tips, think a lot of my problem is that I use too many accesses, which is good for variety, but not for learning new patterns (for me) I think I will start with above suggestions and stick to big m on the rock, elk river on grand and expand from there. Is dock fishing solid post spawn?

Ha the EASY bite is summer river smallies;) a few weeks away from that still. More like the only time of year I can consistently catch bass on the lakes!
  5. I have historically struggled bass fishing lakes post spawn through summer. I know bass generally go deeper, but how do you look for, fish for bass as the easy bite ends and they transition into summer patterns? I have been and likely always will be a river guy, but plan to make a real effort to become a solid stick year round on the lake. ANY info would be much appreciated. Thanks

  7. I fished shallow on gravel points to the backs of coves today, caught several with one 20" big mouth and a couple 16-17" fish. Im no expert, but it sounds like you were a little too deep for the fish I have caught. Hope this helps maybe someone more knowledgeable will chime in.
  8. Wish I could get pics to load, my son caught his 1st "all on his own" fish, cast catch and land (ish) this afternoon a 12 inch K around Big M. He fished hard for 3 hrs, and at 4 years old, thats impressive!
  9. Is that why?
  10. That would be perfect, I thought it would happen last year, maybe this year.
  11. Playoffs, kinda an annual deal! I guess when its a once every decade deal for your team you probably don't notice the perennial powerhouses that get it done year in and year out even with major injuries in their lineup.
  12. Success? One solid year is a good thing for a bandwagon. Have you heard about St. Louis?
  13. I just ordered a tm transducer mount last night. Couldn't find one for my transom and I got my units 2nd hand so Im going to try to get my old bracket on my boat to work, different size bolt, but I think some spacers will make it work for the time being.
  14. Those were my thoughts on setup, but I think I am going to run a dedicated battery for my sonar, 12 volt motorguide 54 lb, so I have room for a 3rd battery. Thanks for the pic, I will route my wires the similar to what you show.
  15. Ended up with a 95 tracker 17TX for a decent price. Truck handles it effortlessly.
  16. Om sure this has been discussed many times, but...... I just bought an older 17 ft tracker with 0 sonar on it. I have 2 lowrance elite 4 units, 1 color with gps, the other an elite 4x not color not gps. I plan on putting these on my boat, one on my trolling motor the other on my console. both have transducers that I know nothing about, and this will be my first time setting up and attempting to truly use sonar. Looking online is ridiculously overwhelming, can somebody give me some basic info, setup suggestions? Are these units servicable?

    Aunts creek

glass 480s in green mirror........ sweet
  18. Thats about what I was thinking, probably do it but aluminum would be easier. I guess I will just see what I end up buying and adjust the truck as needed.
  19. Im about to pull the trigger on an older boat, had been looking mostly at aluminum due to weight, but there are a few solid older glass boats that are really worth the money right now. I plan on pulling with a 4.0 5 speed 4x4 ranger. Do I need to steer clear of glass or is my truck capable of handling a 17-18 ft glass bass boat?
  20. on a small local creek for exactly 1 hr, 5 smallmouth and 8 goggle eye. No size, no beds, deeper water just off of current.
  21. Took a float saturday and the catching was excellent, probably hit a new section of a local creek today after I get a few things done. Going to try to see how far up a river system the brown fish live. I know where some are, snd I know a few miles up there are none, now have to find out the rest!
  22. Im sure that this has been addressed before, but I just finished a float on a river (has it's own forum on here) that is regularly floated, and had to deal with 6 water gates. Yes it was farther up than is generally floated, but still plenty of water, with floats even higher in the system being very possible. What are the basic laws on obstructing a floatable stream? Who would you report these to? 4 of them were easy to take down, but 2 of them were in very bad places and completely impassable (6-8 ft bank on each side). Frustrating.
  23. How was the mo-yak turnout at LOZ? The opener was too far of a drive for this guy.
  24. Drove down to Lincoln Lake today, my rivers are up and I needed to fish in a bad way. caught 4 DINK lm and 1 good perch of some sort. fished everything I could think of in every type of structure available, and it sucked! Had heard it had some good fish, but even a decent bite eluded me. Has anybody fished this lake successfully?
  25. What's strange to me is that the one real resort left on the LRR is the dumpiest one. I know Lobo spent ALOT of money building and upgrading, maybe too much to fast. Im not sure what the resort used to be called, but just up from swinging bridge a resort is changing names to red river adventure center (I believe that's the name), and is remodeling everything. Supposed to be nice when they open in April.
