    Ned Rig

In hindsight, "liar" was a poor choice in words, I apologize if any took offense. However, i still stand by the general context of what I said. My idea of a lot of fish is likely different than others. No, I'm not a big fish guy, nor am I a particularly talented angler. That said I do occasionally have great days and have caught a big fish from time to time. I truly do apologize for any I may have offended from my pro ned rig views, on a topic titled ned rig.

Speaking of wadded panties, try not to take offense to internet forum discussions, there was no personal jab.

Plenty of fish I dont doubt, fewer small fish, undoubtedly, but total numbers? (yes some good fish as well) I'm not saying you dont need anything else in your boat, I still carry everything that I always have. However, you fish your best numbers bait against a decent fisherman with a "ned" like rig, i would be shocked to see the ned lose. If some dont enjoy fishing that way, great, fish however you enjoy, but why criticize a method that you dont fish? I hate spinner baits, bait casting, and rarely tie on a crank, but I have never gotten on the table rock forum to tell the guys using those things that i personally don't enjoy fishing that way. Its fishing, enjoy it.

And furthermore, if you cant catch a good fish on Ned's favorite bait.... maybe it's not the ned, it's you;);)

6 pages 90+ replies, im thinking the ned is hot...... If you post that you dont like it I assume you suck at life or you are lying. Just saying, if I meet you on the river, and you are actually catching a lot of fish, I will guarantee that uou have a soft plastic on a jig head (ned)........ Dang, maybe I have had one too many Miller lites.
  9. Loving that idea, be especially nice for spring time river anglers.

You hate the Elk, or you hate upper Elk and thousands of drunks that have ruined the upper?

I catch better average size fish with a ned than with a tube. Just saying........ maybe learn how to fish the ned and you will catch better fish. (I just had to say that, feeling like a prick with this cold front;) )

Put 1/2 a senko on a jig head, catch brown fish all day, every day. Put a tube on, catch brown fish all day, every day. Spring, summer, fall stream smallmouth are as easy as it gets. Don't over think it, its all very similar regardless of what some say. On the rivers I fish, (swmo), fish it on whatever size head you are comfortable with and fish it in the current, slack water, deep water, shallow water. JUST FISH! Enjoy 100-200 smallmouth days, I promise.

    Water

how is the water looking on the river? Trying to decide between smallmouth and white bass today. Thanks
  14. Had a buddy just call and tell me whites were slow and small up spring river, big and slow down below the tracks. I wonder what they are doing, seem spread out from way down up to I44. I plan to hit it tomorrow afternoon up high. How was the clarity and temps?
  15. Super muddy still +-6 inches of viz..... fish are up river caught 10 BIG sows and a couple males way above 10c. I think if you hit the fish on the head you caught them, if they didnt get hit, no fish.
  16. Overflow was full, but i believe there were 71 yaks in the tourney. Prob a dozen other boats throughout the day.
  17. Fished the Razoryak's first event of the year yesterday at Swepco. Fished really good until the fog lifted, then got tough as the day went on. I caught 8 fish, but 2 flopped off the board before I could get a picture. Best fish was my first, it went 17.75, best five went 69.25. 80 in even won the tourney. First time ever on Swepco, and I'll be back next winter!
  18. Thanks for the replies, guess I'll work today and sneak away tomorrow afternoon and see.
  19. Is Spring river fishable (visibility)? Levels are perfect after the rain, but dont wanna drive an hour just to see coffee. Thanks if anyone has seen it today or last night.

    June 15 float

i Typically use cowskin camp for Shuttle, but they are high. Cowskin public access off of 43 has some good water you can paddle up to and float down to.
  21. If temps are low 50's fish the flats just above the docks.... move until you find fish on your graph. If you cant find fish, find the boats thats where they are. Bait shouldn't matter more finding the fish. Ill hopefully make it out monday if i can get away. Let us know how you do.
  22. Depends on your boat. 10 is a terrible ramp so anything glass I would run up from twin, aluminum I use 10.
  23. What Ham said. But if i have a tude on its a Bitsy Tube in about whatever color looks right at the time, 1/8 oz stand up jig head.
