  1. It's spring time brown fishing. I have never been on the JF but river fish are mostly the same. Bring a couple Plano boxes and some plastics and fish. If they don't bite fast fish slow, if they aren't at the top of pools go to the bottom. They may or may not be in the shallow stuff but you can figure that out quickly. The worst thing you can do is over think a creek smallie. Have fun.
  2. Beautiful day, windy as anything but fun afternoon at a local puddle. Picked up a few on the 7 wt but the wind kept it fromBeing enjoyable. Grabbed the spinning rod and picked up some decent fish.
  3. The sections you speak of.......... don't exist
  4. Excellent work, great fish!
  5. Water was a little low but had a decent flow. Clarity was about normal for this time of year. B.S. should be super clear as always. 90% of my fish came from cover at the top to middle of pools.
  6. I had a long post typed but I deleted it. Have fun children I'm going to get stuff ready for a float in the morning. (Good luck mjk)
  7. Dunno why they do that, but I have caught a few like that one.

    Trib report

I hadon't the day off yesterday, and after I took my son to school at noon I hauled the yak to a local flow (Elk tributary) for some fun. It was on fire! I fished from 1250-345 and caught 57 fish. Most were your standard 10 inch smalljaws but several were solid with a couple in the 14 inch range. 75 percent were brown fish with the rest being Largemouth and goggle eyes. The numbers blew my mind. I figured it would be a good afternoon but it was as good as most summer afternoons.
  9. I haven't been on Big Sugar, but I was on a different trib yesterday and the fishing was INSANE. Have fun.
  10. Haha
  11. I'm not Ham, but I caught him on an orange/pumpkin zinker.
  12. I went on my first short float of the year yesterday on a rarely floated river hoping to get into some smalljaws and the trip didn't dissapoint. I had to paddle hard to make takeout at 530 (put in close to 4) but I still managed 4 of the brown ones. The surprise wasnt that I also caught 4 'bows, or that I caught a 16.75 inch bow (no pic i was about to be in a real bad situation), it was that I caught a 22.75 in TOAD that im fairly confident is the same fish that i caught (and posted) in december. The spot is a secret, the river is secret and no its not where you think it is
  13. Sex dungeons, 'nuff said
  14. Take the back 3 ft of an old tapered leader, tie on 2 ft of 8 or 10 lb fluorocarbon and fish it.
  15. Check out the Umpqua ledges packs. I have a 650 and it's HUGE. Great for a long day but the 500 would be good for most days.
  16. I am going insane waiting for water Temps to get up and stay up. Yes you can still chase the silver rockets but when your mind is set on green and brown fish, trout just won't do. Until then I'll keep playing at the vice.
  17. Mine will ship Monday
  18. Another thing, when you put a 2nd person in the boat it's a whole new game. I had my deck up against the top lip of my boat and it was great solo (I stand a lot when kayak fishing, its A LOT more stable than that ). I wouldn't do it if you don't have it on a trailer though, it adds enough weight to make truck bed loading suck.
  19. I have done it...... its stable enough if you aren't expecting it to be like a bass boat
  20. Im looking for a decent trailer to throw a 1436 jon boat on. If anybody has one or sees one worth the money I would appreciate a heads up. Thanks
  21. Had about an hour to fish after work. Tied a sex dungeon on the 7 weight and fished the shallows. 2 solid fish, 1 dink. The boy even got in on the fun!
  22. low rod tip, strip set and keep your rod tip down through the initial part of the fight.
  23. Big egg patterns, big black/white nymphs, a pound of split, monstrous indicator and 4x. Or streamer fish
  24. Those boys on the white get emotional when you go over 25hp.
