...the board lately. Are you doing okay with all of the flooding in Nebraska? We were headed to Stockton last week for a vacation but decided to sit tight. We have a farm 50 miles north of Omaha and it is ok so far but we've made quite a few trips hauling valuables back to our home in Papillion. Hope all is well with you.

Was the young man recovered? Call it a phobia of mine but ever since a high school friend of mine drowned and she was recovered several days later I don't like going near a body of water with someone still in it. No disrespect meant.

Troutfiend, I was somewhat sympathetic to your arguement until you injected 'lawyers' into it. Obviously you haven't been pressured to meet hours billed yet. Get back to me in a decade and we'll talk about 'fair and square' then.

I must say the deer are well trained down there...it did a job on your van. Years ago when I was in high school I had a morning paper route. The 'stud' in our neighborhood always had cool cars. In particular a '69 Camaro rs/ss. I loved that car. One morning I'm walking my route and....oh Lord, what happened to my dream car? In front of me sitting in his driveway is a trashed Camaro. To the extent that the A pillar was almost buckled in two. The roof was caved in and up, deer hair and blood everywhere. Passenger front and side of car were damaged but not that bad. Apparently the deer leapt..just not high enough.(The 'studs' new car was a super rare '70 Monte Carlo although at that time we couldn't know how rare some of these cars would be.)

The Boat House (bar-b-que place on 39) was opening up a bait store on the south end of the restaurant. Had a few things, minnows included, last time we were there. I haven't figured out why bait shops on the north end don't do so well. Not enough business it would appear but the Sinclair that was in business last year would have had multiple streams of revenue I would have thought.

And that my friend is me in a nut shell. Although as I get older I have become much more aware of the fact that it's much more likely that I might get my butt kicked as compared to when I could back my words up. But my wife still hates to take me shopping!

We are not even in a flood plain, Al. That is what made us curious in the first place as to why they want our property. And I would agree that people that locate their home, cabin, trailer, etc. next to a river or stream need to factor into the life style that they will in fact see flooding sometime. But I do think that a huge portion of what the Corp. does is guess work at best. Not scientific even. The river has broken out of the banks south of us. We all figured it would but if you look at the maps posted for water depth projections you have to wonder what the heck the corp was looking at....they show that area shallower than surrounding areas. On the bright side, and by no means am I negating anyone's misfortune, that breakout south of us actually helps more people than it hurts because a lot of water gets spread out over empty land rather than flooding homes.

We had a survey sent to us several years back. I don't recall exactly what all of the questions were but The Corp wanted to know if we were willing to sell the property. They were developing a river valley program for certain stretches of the river. I am definitely a conspiracy theorist when it comes to the government, could this be the enactment of that plan? Just saying.....

Our family has a family retreat in Mondamin Ia. We are on a levee so we're hoping to escape water damage. At 150,000 cfs out of the dams it will be close. The biggest problem we face is power. The substation feeding us is projected to be under 6' of water so they are removing it. Just great. No electricity for as long as the flooding continues. I'm worried about the dang looters. We removed our valuables but moved/left the furniture on the second floor. No insurance as we are in a 100 year flood plain. Never has flooded there but this one is going to be a doozy they predict. The whole mess doesn't make make sense. Total bad call on behalf of the Corp of Engineers. Maybe this is the shovel ready stimulas the Potus was looking for?? There sure has been a flurry of activity building levees, etc.

Get the registration # and turn the a-hole in. You sound like a magnet for dark clouds, straw, good grief!

How many and how big are the areas that contact the boat? I had my wife sew some soft cloth around the straps on the cover I had 2 boats ago but unfortunately the damage was done. Ended up getting a new cover with bungee tie downs and a ratchet chinch.

Nope, lol, lifters are the big bottles of rum with handles. They have/had? a still that kicks out nasty moon shine. The rum makes it smoother......or so they tell me.

A. I'd like to get back up to Canada, Slims Cabins specifically, a few more times. B. Have a center console boat big enough for all my grandchildren (5 so far) to be out with us at the same time. C. Catch and eat fish that are very palatable as per recommendation of others (although that can be a very trusting concept. Had a buddy tell me he could serve up tasty duck....didn't happen). D. Spend more time with the family relaxing around the campfire. E. And being this is my list and this is outdoors related.....I would love to ride a full tilt Harley hill climber straight to the top.

Hey.... Try taking a bus load of Boy Scouts to Canada (think it was '95) and not hearing that all the way back and for months thereafter....eh? When we go up to Canada with just the adults we always take 'Lifters' with us for our hosts....know what that is?

The drive sucks big time but the fishing is incredible where we go. I love to catch northerns but they climbed all over my butt the first time I brought one into the cleaning house..."get that slimmy jack fish out of here." Old man Slim hated them. He's gone now so they're probably ok with it now.

R What lodge were you headed for? We usually stop in Flin Flon for gas on our way to Slim's Cabins on the Churchhill.

That is so very true. And patience. There is another thread going re: Pomme and the guy has been to Stockton 3 times and she's never given up anything to him. While we have had some very trying days we've never been skunked. There are some days the wife fishes while I play with the electronics....we're never skunked on those days. I swear she could catch a fish out of thin air.

Bob Bennett is of the same opinion as you Mike. Just shifting through my options before dropping the hammer. I have not been on a boat with the Terrova yet. Sent a couple of buddies to Bob earlier this week and they were impressed with the trip. How is the Terrova different from a compass based motor?
