We are not even in a flood plain, Al. That is what made us curious in the first place as to why they want our property. And I would agree that people that locate their home, cabin, trailer, etc. next to a river or stream need to factor into the life style that they will in fact see flooding sometime.
But I do think that a huge portion of what the Corp. does is guess work at best. Not scientific even. The river has broken out of the banks south of us. We all figured it would but if you look at the maps posted for water depth projections you have to wonder what the heck the corp was looking at....they show that area shallower than surrounding areas. On the bright side, and by no means am I negating anyone's misfortune, that breakout south of us actually helps more people than it hurts because a lot of water gets spread out over empty land rather than flooding homes.
