  1. [ Straw i have been rebuilding an old 58' Crestliner..... Zac] Good lord, Zac, are you building an Ark?
  2. [....... Maybe you need to slip over to the Ruark Bluff Area of Stockton lake and check out our tackle selection and service. My wife spends an enormous amount of time and effort to get good deals on tackle to pass along to our customers. Most of the time she beats Wal-Mart's prices substantially. As far as the small town attitudes, I hope you find a pleasant atmosphere as Son Sac Marine.] Thanks, Bill. I have personally launched only as far south as Mutton Creek. We have a home on the north side of Stockton. Slooooowly working our way around the lake with the boat although we've driven by car around the lake several times. Hopefully we'll be able to try your spot soon. We'll be down in October (we live just south of Omaha, Stockton is our home away from home)and if time permits we'll stop in.
  3. [others are more of a locals hang out than a business and they make you feel very uncomfortable when you are in there...] That's unfortunate but I've gotten that feeling in several places. However there are some really decent and accommodating folks in many of the businesses (non-fishing included) so it balances out I guess. It's a small town, with that comes certain attitudes. To expect something else would be in error.
  4. I've wondered why Stockton wasn't more 'developed' than what it is, not that I'm complaining. I like the lack of pressure. It's the reason we bought a home there. But some of the stories regarding any kind of a progressive business environment would scare most enterprising folks. Some of the literature regarding Stockton calls it Missouri's best kept secret. And from what we've experienced that is entirely by design.
  5. I've seen a couple on either end of the lake. I also saw one on the north end that was out of business. I asked our realtor about that when we were shopping for a house in '09. Story he gave me was the guy was not a homeboy and not much business came his way. You locals can correct that if not correct.
  6. Couldn't get the racing forum to open so I'll post this here... I have 6 Nationwide tickets available for the October 2 race in Kansas City. Section 240 row 35 seats 3,4 row 36 seats 1,2,3,4. Face value $85.00 ea. Best offer.
  7. [Good luck and stay safe!! It shouldn’t be much longer before the fall bite is going great.] Sounds great! Hopefully the timing is right....Headed down for the Nascar race and then to Stockton for a week first part of October. Leave some fish for me Bob!
  8. We got checked @ Stockton four weekends ago. Nothing was said about trolling motors at all. Is your buddy maybe yanking your starter cord?
  9. [ sounded like somebody reving up and letting off a big v-8 with an airplane prop on it] That's what my buddies all run up here in Nebraska on the Platte River, out of necessity though. I've never even seen any around Stockton being trailerd not to mention on the lake.
  10. Swamp boats?? What's that all about?
  11. Follow the links and make our voices heard. Same with the upcoming elections. We can whine all we want but the only thing that matters is your vote.

I'd like to make a 'trek' like you're doing. Been to Slim's up in Canada several times. Have fun, safe trip.
  13. Did you ever finish?
  14. I 'had' them on my boat for a little less than a month. The wife and kids complained how "gross" they looked (the bright orange, I guess).....the things quietly disappeared. I was po'd to the extreme. Had the engine been scratched when the stickers were removed I would have disowned them all.
  15. Good to hear! Perfect timing. Weather is getting bearable on the water. Life is for enjoying....

It would have been nice if someone could have netted the floaters after the weigh-in. We left shortly after the awards, first time we attended one. Maybe someone got 'em?
  17. I'm surprised you run ethanol. My Honda will vapor lock if I do that.
  18. [........Regarding the PR at Bennett Spring, well I have a less than positive experience with him.} So he goes into the 'turd' column?
  19. Speaking of closings, any idea when the bridge on 32 between Stockton/El Dorado Springs will be open?
  20. To me wrench, and most of the folks I hang with, john Q public is an unnamed person(s) at large. No one specific.
  21. A wedding.....
  22. My step-brother just retired from the 'system', lovetofish. The following comment is my own, only slightly influenced by listening to his stories over the years: Do you know how many people (I'm being very nice here) he's had to deal with over the years who share the same disrespect for rangers and more often than not, law enforcement in general? Now, I'm not saying all PR's are of the same high calibre that he is, in fact I've met a turd or two, but my step-brother loves the out of doors with a passion. He would give the shirt off his back, and literally has, to anyone.......except to unscrupulous sportsmen and idiot john Q publics. These type of individuals are who he swore to protect the rest of us from. In addition to knowing the legal system inside and out, the DNR regulations, the history of Yellowstone and the general area (it is where he worked), the Girl and Boy Scout programs inside and out (he deals with them on a regular basis and the information is a wealth of knowledge) and he is a certified first responder, this man would much rather sit down with you and trade stories or share his knowledge with you. He never has understood people like you. Oh yeah, my daughter is a retired cop. Retired at 37 years old. Some idiot john Q with no respect for people in general put her in a position of having to make a decision. It cost her 80%+ of her hearing.
  23. I posted that with a wink & a nod, straw. (Tried to message you but your box isn't activated)
  24. Well then let me be the first to say Stockton sucks in so many ways. The fishing is horrible, the water quality is worse than Lake of the Ozarks, there is an incredible amount of submerged debris that would snag most boat props, everyone takes pot shots at jet-skis, the sail boat captains will cut you no slack and will flat run you over, the people in the area suck the most being the rudest you will ever meet. In general, as previously stated, Stockton has nothing to offer anyone. Stay away.
