Gonna add to my dock bite statement. I noticed yesterday that when I was fishing these pockets that when the wind was behind me going into a pocket I didn't get bit. It was heading out against the wind when I got bit. It was blowing pretty hard at times so my guess is that my bait just wasn't in the strike zone quite long enough. I was using 1/2 oz jig with Yamamoto twin tail grub trailer. Green pumpkin with purple/orange flake. Skirt was green pumpkin with a hint of orange and Missouri craw. Don't think color made a big difference. There are some great looking pockets between Viola ramp and Sweetwater. Tons of debris and lay downs with deep water in the middle. I didn't get a single bite flipping the good looking stuff. Either incorrect bait choice or they aren't in there just yet.
Bo. I am breaking my motor in. I still have 6 plus hours left on break in. Never been that far up the Kings. It was a beautiful day for a tour of the Rock.
I was out there today from 7-noon. Caught 13. Crankbait for the first one. Jig for the second one. Bunch of them on a fluke. After sun got high fish were under docks. Used a jig again. Ran my boat from Holiday Island to Sweetwater and back. Dock bite was on for sure but I had to leave to watch my girls play soccer.
They didn't really say. There are several theories why these motors are failing. Pistons not made of durable materials or fuel delivery. Most motors they replace have between 2-300 hrs. Mine had 279. I think the issues were fixed in Series 2. Not sure though
If you see a white/black Skeeter driving erratically tomorrow I'm not drunk. I'm breaking my motor in. Ha. Putting in at Holiday Island. Gonna run 30-45min north. Fish for a while then head back. Hope I see some you folks out there.
Probably gonna be some tight lips if you are looking for tournament help. I was on Beaver yesterday for a couple hours. The fish were in 8-10 ft of water on the clear end. I would start Mid lake and work from there. Water should be low to mid 60's. Fish are active. Probably gonna be a lot of limits caught. The kicker fish will separate the field. Good luck.
Had HydroTech do it. No disrespect to any other mechanics but I was in a rush to get it done and they came highly recommended from several people I talked to. It's busy time of year for mechanics right now and these guys specifically do motors. That being said they took longer than I hoped but I borrowed a buddies boat for my last BFL. I'm glad to be in my own boat for sure.
After 4 long weeks my motor is done. Headed back from Missouri. Now starts the break-in. I'll be cruising Beaver this afternoon into the evening. Glad to have my rig back.
The Gen 3 units are far superior to my Hds gen 2's. Much faster processing, ease of use and screen resolution. I gotta say those new Hummingbird megahertz units look fantastic though. Best picture to date on down and side imaging.
If you get Hds 9 gen 3 touch up front it has side and down scan built into the unit. It will share way points with your 8. Has to be hds or they can't be shared. I went through all of this recently. I was gonna buy a hook 9 for up front but it doesn't have hook up for Ethernet cable. If you don't need to share waypoints they have smokin deals on Hook models right now.
