  1. Ducky pretty much said all that needs to be said. Your right in that you can't hunt from a moving boat thats under power. Most of my hunting is from the bank with the boat hidden or parked 100 to 200 yds down the bank since I don't have a blind on the boat. Bull Shoals is pretty much hit or miss and as long as the farm ponds aren't froze it can be slim pickins. once they freeze up it'll pick up on the lake, atleast that's what I've seen over the past 15 years. Good luck and if you see a camo 1860 G3 with a 90 hp Yamaha good chance that'll be me as Bull Shoals is about all I hunt when the south zone opens up, give me a shout.
  2. Congrats on what looks like a awsome hunt. Good lookin' dawg.
  3. Nice mix of teal there Billet. Looks like we might get a push of fresh birds middle of next week .
  4. Good stuff Billet, congrats.
  5. Roflmao, good thing u put the disclaimer in there or I might hitting u up for a new smart phone . Can't beat a good coot shoot.
  6. Hunted Schell yesterday with a buddy, his son, and his dad. Had one of the best hunts I've had up there in a number of years. Buddy's boy had a reservation and pulled pill 10 and ended up picking F11 to hunt out of. Come shooting time it was non stop teal action for about an hour or so and we had our opportunity to easily have a 4 man limit within that hour. Decided before the hunt that no body was shooting till the boy got his shooting in, didn't take long for him to finally tell us to go ahead and start shooting . Ended the day with 21 gwt, 2 mallets, and a pintail. seen very few big ducks, say probably 95% teal. Did see a few fully plumed out blue wingers which was a treat as I've never seen a plumed out drake over the deke as their usually further south by now, unfortunately wasn't quick enough to get the pulled up on moreless get a shot on em. Had 3 pintails working us pretty hard and were just about to commit to the dekes just a red tail hawk decided to be a party crasher and give a fly thru and land in a tree across from us, noticed pretty quick that ducks get near as close while he was around.
  7. Henry Golden Boy .22 lr (SOLD) Brand new still in the box (only taken out for display and to take the pic's). Won this awsome and beautiful lil rifle in a raffle this past weekend. Don't really have a need or use for it as much as I do a shotgun. Looking to either trade for a good semi-auto 12ga waterfowlin' gun or sell outright for $500.00. Henry's site has this guns MSRP at $515.00.
  8. Very nice B.H.
  9. Very nice shootin' BH and congrats. I've yet to get out for a teal/skeeter hunt and with antlers on my mind I may not this season.
  10. Awsome and congrats FnF. Hopefully be able to get out in the morning myself.
  11. Sweet pics, especially like the middle one with the reflections.
  12. Nice flock of flocked dekes. Look like they should suck the geese right in.
  13. Well done and congrats. Seen 3 big groups of teal flying around yesterday while dove hunting. Should a good one as long as I can shoot thru the mosquitos
  14. Have to give that a try. Thanks for sharing.
  15. Awsome DD.
  16. Awsome DD.
  17. Another idea is a plastic water trough (sp?) on wheels. Seen a guy with one at 4 R's years ago and said it worked better than anything he's used for the walk in areas. Used it as a layout blind to stay out of the mud and/or water and threw a burlap tarp over him and used whatever available vegetation to camo it up. Floated it the shallows and had it rigged up where the wheels (2 bicycle tires) were removeable from the axle by pins. He hauled it on the top of a car with all the gear strapped down in it.
  18. Bird Watcher, if he's not interested in the layouts a buddy and I have been talking about getting a couple but having a hard droping the coin on new ones if were only going to use them a couple times a year if that when the ducks are hitting the fields. I might be in the market if your looking to re-home some.
  19. Was pumped up about hunting last week when the temps were in the 50's for lows and 70's for highs but now that's it back to more summer temps not so much . Seen a bunch of teal before the heat wave came back but haven't seen awhole lot in the last few days. Great pic F&F.
  20. A big thanks to you and everyone else that came out to support both the Branson Police and Fire Dept's auxiliary funds. Also a huge thanks to Phil and the crew for all their work and hosting this tourney again and helping to make it a success. The weather was perfect and the fishing was good. We only managed to put six fish in the boat but still managed to weight in 5.7 lbs and landed somewhere around 10th on the board so wasn't too bad. Threw a few small dink fish back early thinking we would be able to catch bigger fish and that plan didn't work out . All our fish were caught between just down from Fall Creek dock to Short Creek. Caught more short browns than bows, only one that was even close to measuring was one at 17 inches. Missed 2 fish good fish that were both guessing over 3 pounds, just couldn't get the hook set. All fish caught on a 3/32 white jig slow reeling back to the boat.
  21. Very nice DD, I can almost smell whatchya cookin'.
  22. Never have seen one in bull shoals. Now long nose gar, that's another story. Been bowfishing pretty much from mincy on up for the past 10 years or so and have never seen one or heard of one being seen in that area. Not saying there not in there and it wouldn't surprise me if there are some.
  23. Congrats to all. Tagged out myself on both opening days (1st week and 2nd week). 1st bird: 4-15-13 Personally the biggest bird I've ever taken. 23-24lbs (no scales, rough guess). 9 1/2 inch beard, 1 5/8th and 1 9/16th inch spurs. Morning started out slow. Decided to sit in the blind on a ridge which is about 75 to 100 yds from their normal roosting area not knowing if the rain would move in or not (which it didn't and it got warm quick). Birds gobbled good from about 6 to 6:30 and then got quiet. Sat in the blind til about 9 not seeing anything but crows. Decided to walk the ridge around the property to a knoll that overlooks 2 separate fields to see if I could spot some birds. about 30 yds from the top of the knoll a bird starts gobbling on the back side of it probably another 20 yds. set the dekes up on the ridge road and plop down on the turkey lounger in the brush. Call a couple times and the bird is gobbling and headed my way. about the 30 yds out I spot him but have no shot thru the cedars and brush and he wouldn't come out into the opening, once he seen the strutting jake deke he turned walked away???? Only thing I could figure is that he'd probably already had his but kicked and didn't want it again. waited for about a 1/2 hour with nothing and decided to walk the rest of the ridge and head down a valley going into the fields. as soon as I cleared the wood line spooked 2 hens and 2 jakes and 4 long beards that took off up the glade and weren't looking back. as I was watching them a tom sounds off in the timber towards the south about 150 yds away. start to put my sneak on, get about 20 yds into my sneak and theres a tom in the brush about 40 yds infront of me with the other bird still sounding off. drop to my knees, gun in my right hand on the ground and holding the Julio (jake mobile) in the hand. hold Julio infront of me just slightly turning him side to side. The tom couldn't stand it and immediately went into strut and came straight to the deke I was holding up drumming and spitting the whole way. He got to about 15 ft before I figured I 'd better do something before he kicked my butt . dropped the deke, shouldered the gun and rolled him forward as I hit in the back of the head at about 15 yds. all that happened in about 2 min's or less from the time I heard that gobble in the woods which he was still gobbling after I shot. 2n bird: 4-22-13 Got into the blind about 5:45 and didn't hear anything till about 6:30 and what I did hear was very distant and few. Nothing gobbled on the property I was on. About 6:50 I look out the right window and see 2 hens heading my way about 40 yds up. Watching them for a couple min's I hear a bird drummin' and spittin' and out the front window to see 3 tom's struttin' towards the dekes at 30 yds. Shouldered the gun and proceeded to watch them attack the Julio and Juanita da dekes. Watched this for about 1 min, then they were gettin' alil nervous with the dekes not responding to the attacks. Picked out the one with the fullest beard ( all 3 were similar and didn't see any hooks on them but decent spurs all about the same) and dropped him. The other 2 stuck around and one proceeded to start peckin' and whoopin' up on their buddy. took about 3 min's of video of that and they had stuck around for about 15 min's. Then to top that off walking back to the truck and find my first morrels ever . After getting home and processing the bird, hooked up the boat headed to the lake hoping for a limit of crappie. Ended up with only 2 crappie, 3 whites, and a couple dozen short LM's and Kentucky's. Good day. Not as big as the first bird but I'm not complaining. 18-19 lbs, 9 1/2" beard, one spur right about an inch and the other just under.
