  1. If it was during the day or atleast ended before 11pm you wouldn't hear near as many complaints.
  2. When I first heard about it a couple months ago I was pretty excited about it but then the more I thought about and my little 18 ft'r with 90 hp yamaha with 10 27watt leds and a 55lbs thrust trolling motor was just to quiet . When big motors not running you don't hear nothing but the arrows hittin' the water. its getting to the point where its just too much and if lived on the lake I probably be caling the popo for a peace disturbance complaint, no different than the neighbors dog barking constantly at 3am imho,. Fans are great for shallows but id rather not have to wear ear plugs.
  3. Texted one of the agent's and it's news to him. Do you have a name of who is said to caught it?
  4. How long is the shaft?
  5. Beaver creek area was loaded up with birds this morning. Little drive around and seen more ducks in an hour than I've seen all season combined down here. Spring hole at Kissee Mills park was loaded up with pintails, mallards, widgeon, teal, and of course gadwall. Seen probably close to couple thousand or around the mouth of beaver as well flying and sitting on the water. Oh well, gives me something to look forward to for next season .
  6. Congrats and good pics.
  7. Very nice and well done.
  8. Awsome pic FnF, only been in the eye of the storm twice and its defintely one of the most amazing and deafening hunts I've ever been on.
  9. Dang, that's more green then I've seen all season . Congrats and good shooting. Got the truck and boat de-duckified this afternoon and readied for some fish slime.
  10. Another awsome sunrise and gadwall kind of day. Went 2 hours north hoping for some green and all we could get to work us was gadwall. Started out good and seen a ton of distant birds going where we weren't . The few that we did have work us worked well. Managed to drop 6 and probably should of had another 3 but couldn't get them to fall. By 9 it got quiet and we didn't see anything flying from then to by the time we left shortly after 11. Good hunt with great friends to end the season. Now time to de-duckify da boat and get it in fishin' mode .
  11. Saweeeet!!!!!!!!! Congrats.
  12. Hunted the qagmire pothole in the mouth of Beaver this morning with a couple of buddies. Wasn't expecting much but thought we'd see more than we we did. Seen approx. 30 gadwall and a pair of mallards total. Had a few groups work us early but by about 8 it got quiet quick with nothing flying around. Ended up with 3 gadwall. Still beats working
  13. Congrats bird watcher.
  14. Fun hunt til I went to pick up dekes and realized the silt on the opposite bank was alili thicker and deeper than I expected  nothing like being in ankle deep water sunk up to the waist in silt. Then the walk out was fun walking 200 plus yds in melting permafrost that was hard ground on the walk in and then not so much on the walk out . And i'd do it again. Gotta love the silt catch where the creek meets the lake .
  15. A mature fully plummed drake gaddie is a beautiful bird as is the drake gwt. Congrats on your 14 FnF.
  16. Hunted a lil spot my boys and I have dubbed the "Holy Hole" with a buddy and we managed to scratch out 3 mallard, 1 gwt, and 6 gadwall. Hunted till 12:30 before calling it. Shoulda been and had our chances at our limits but it just wasn't meant to be . Started out pretty decent for the first 30 minutes then was the wait every 45 to an hour for the next group. Didn't see a lot but the ones we did see worked well. Saw maybe 75 birds total.
  17. Nice, always good when you to spent time with old friends in the field.
  18. Soft suzie quacks and a drake whistle usually is all that's needed. Been finding out tho that the gadwall quack on the ol duck call is working pretty good aswell. About the same as the hen quack without the raspiness. Will admit tho that I'll blow a hail or two to distant birds to see how they respond usually just has em kick it into high gear away but occasionally you get one to pull and then its game on back to the softer calling.
  19. Here ya about the ice and when I left it was melting and breaking up pretty quick. As cold as it was suppose to get I was expecting beaver to be iced up but it was fairly open other than shoreline ice out about 10 ft. The pocket I was in had some but was more open than I expected as well.
  20. Bull Shoals, Beaver creek area. Should of had a limit of gadwall but didn't see much more than that, a limit. Hunted till 11:30 and approximately 20 ducks all gadwall except for one mixed up greeenhead that was with a pair of gadwall. Heard a few distant volleys of shot about the first hour and it got quite and didn't hear much of anything as far as shooting goes.
  21. Not much on bull shoals either Jeff. Managed to scratch out a couple but probably only seen 20 or so all morning, hunted till11:30.
  22. Also helps to have birds around . had the op to be limited out on gads in 30 mins this morning and I'm still hunting . Had 4 gads in the dekes 5 mins before shooting time which they spooked when one bounced off a greenhead deke. Had a pair drop in for a visit and became permanent guest shortly after. 2 gads and a greenhead dropped in for a visit not long after that and didn't like hospitality of the black dawg welcoming committee that busted out the front door when they lit. Hard to throw steel at em when you don't reload the ol 835 after previous shots . Missed a couple other pairs of gads, just one of those days. Slow morning to say the least not seeing much fly, but what I have seen has atleast worked and gave me opportunity even if I cant hit squat . but atleast I have some sammich meat for lunch.
  23. Less is sometimes more in regaurds to calling and decoys . Can honestly say that I've shot at more birds with out even blowing a call and have several times shot limits with half a dozen dekes out. Location, location, location.
  24. Well said FnF. #10 is probably my biggest pet peeve especially empty shells but trash in general. Leave it better than you found, only thing you should leave behind is footprints.
  25. Found a few more birds today on Bull Shoals but still nothing like we'd expect to see with all the ponds froze. Seen a couple pics on another forum from the north and middle zones still loaded with ducks. Seen a good size flock of gads and teal (approx 100 or so) on the old ramp flat at kdock plus half dozen gads and a cross breed shoveler (poss pintail mix looking at the back feathers) in back of kdock cove, couple dozen gads and a few mallets and mergs in Beaver. 3 greenheads and a hen on the marsh at kissee mills park, 2 mergs up the creek. Didn't make it over to see snapps and cedar creek but guessing probably a few birds around in each as well. Going to hit it hard the rest of the week hopefully what birds we do have want to play Also stopped at scenic overlook on y hwy at about 10am and glassed the Como for about 15 min's while eating some mcD's breakfast, flock of about 20 geese on the grass at the condos across the lake is all I seen. The stump row going down towards the ol' john the diver blind was empty of fowl other than a couple herrons and a bald eagle that kept flying back and forth. Some guy were hunting the point on the island across from the blind and heard them shoot once but never saw anything fall or fly out that I could see? Not a single duck in the cove by edgewater resort and half dozen gads in the cuts by the dam.
