  1. That last ones a good one. Hailey would be a lap dawg if we let her and at times tries to sneak her way up on the couch with us but something about her nails and synthetic leather couches that don't mix . plus she's a bed/couch hog if we let her up and will literally push us out of the way.
  2. Hailey is a indoor dog and considered more than just a pet. She's actually sleeping at my feet as I type this. We don't let her up on the furniture and when were not home she's in her crate. Know some guys that just think their dog is just a tool for retrieving but I feel their more of hunting companion. Yea she frustrates me and gets hard headed when it comes to training and retrieving to hand but I chalk that up to the pointing lab stock in her as she just wants to go when it comes to retrieving. She's a good "bring back da meat" dawg and that's all I ask for. Hailey da super dawg, just missing the cape . "Fish, over there." Lil' bowfishing. "Where to now?"
  3. Hunted with a guy that has a Boykin and as stated before the dog is a machine when it comes to retrieving but also a magnet for cockleburrs. Probably one of the most well mannered dogs I've ever shared a blind with and considered getting one but I think im leaning towards going back to a yellow lab for the next pup, but after seeing the Boykin its made that lean alil less .
  4. Awesome and that would definitely get the waterfolwin' blood flowing again. Congrats.
  5. prayers to BW for safe travels. looking forward to the story and pics.
  6. Put the hammer down and go get em'.
  7. Cool pics FnF. This is one of all time favorite pics of my ol' yella dawg Whit. The pic was taken over 15 years ago up at Schell in the handicap blind B2. After posting the pic on another forum I had a guy ask permission to do a woodburning of the pic and then after she passed I had a number good friends get together and commission a local artist (Tom Crain of Crain Creations) do a painting of the pic aswell. She is the reason I got into duck hunting in the first place. The ol' yella dawg with the new pup on a teal hunt, I believe her last season. the black dawg showing off her pointing lab traits.
  8. She's definitely not camera shy. If you got room I'm sure she can be talked into a road trip next season .
  9. The last photo isn't a waterfowl hunt pic but was one of the most personal meaningful hunts I had this past season. Sitting in the stand during rifle season when it dawned on me as the sun was rising that I was using my grand fathers ol' JC Higgins Model 50 Sears & Roebuck 30-.06. Never had the opportunity/pleasure to hunt him while he was alive but its an honor for me to be able to carry on the tradition and one that will passed down for generations to come. I just couldn't help but think he was there with me in spirit on that hunt.
  10. Great pics y'all. Didn't have half the season y'all had as far as the birds go but still enjoyed it non the less and wouldn't trade it as its made me appreciate it even more.
  11. gotta love a good ol shotgun wake up call . Congrats.
  12. Sweet and congrats. Only seen one on bull shoals about 5 years ago and he never came close enough to get a shot at.
  13. Awesome and cheers to you and the Mrs. For the great season y'all had.
  14. Sweet and congrats.
  15. The year of Goosezilla going down and now Green Kong. congrats on being able to share a good hunt with a good friend.
  16. That's a toad of a goose, congrats. Maybe we need to start having waterfowlin' tourney like fishin' tourneys. Of course the way my seasons going I'd just be donating money to everyone else
  17. Probably didnt say "Herooonk y'all" and said "Herooonk Eh" as it came in
  18. Funny you mention that GB, knew a guy years ago that thats what he used and floated bleach bottles if he was hunting a pond and recall that he did fairly well hunting snows on a poor mans budget.
  19. We did laugh pretty good and the kid had a good attitude and understanding about the whole experience. Think he got more of a kick out shooting the hillbilly trash shoot than he did the duck . jeff, noticed they were pumping the water pretty hard on taney and did see a few birds in the cove just up from the scenic overlook on Y hwy but nothing across the lake and down to the ol john the diver blind cove.
  20. Congrats to the both of you. glad to see y'all still on birds, got the next 4 days off so hoping iI can get on some before wednesday .
  21. It probably would have if there any out.
  22. Hunted Bull Shoals between Cedar Creek and Snapps with a buddy and a 17-18 year old kid that he brought and managed to scratch out a lone Gaddie, a very well aged/ 4 plus years expired Bud Light, a blue ray dvd of Dragon, and several plastic bottle filled with water. About 7:30 had a single fly down the main lake and never gave us a look, around 8:45 had a pair of mallards come in and probably would of worked if it wouldn't of been for one of standing around out of the blind with the dawg retrieving rocks, one of her stupid pet tricks when birds aren't flying . about 9am had a flock of a dozen geese give us a serious good look but knew something wasn't right when they couldn't find the invisible geese decoys calling at them. Around 9:30 had the single come back up the lake and locked up and came right in locked up and on a string. landing gear came down and the other 2 shooters popped and simultaneously shot and double tap him, poor thing didn't even have a chance. Nothing flying after that and figured there would be since there was a couple guys in a duck boat running every cove including ours until they seen the mojos and vered back out. Waved at them and they continued on, hope they found some but didn't see any flying out of any of the coves they hit in our area. Never heard another shot from Beaver to K dock, did hear some very distant shots early but nothing after 7:30. Before we picked up I was reminencing how when my boys were younger, 7 or 8, when it was slow like this i'd pick up dirt clods or bottles and throw em up for them to shoot and that's when the kid pulls out a very well aged/ 4 plus years expired unopened Bud Light can he found behind us as we were setting up. So we had alil fun and did some hillbilly skeet shootin' with some flood debris . One lesson that was learned was to make sure you are up wind when you shoot at a 4 plus year old expired Bud Light, not the most pleasant smelling thing when the spray comes back at you, glad I was standing off to the side when I threw the can .
  23. Some fine looking firearms being raffled off for a good program. Not sure if we'll make it to the banquet but I'll be getting some tickets from Zeller or yourself once I get the clearance from the financial advisor aka wife .
  24. GooseZillaaaaaaaaaa. Sounds like a good Cast-N-Blast outing.
  25. Just an fyi, the gate was back open this afternoon when I drove by.
