I would vote for Cape Fair also. Good fishing and not as busy as the main lake. Great food at Koppies!!!!!!!

Bill, Just let me know when the halibut fry is and yes, I'll book a couple of days in January. Very nice!!! Did Steve Parrot build it???
-
Good report!! It sounds like a good time to me. Maybe we can get some of the topwater action that we missed this spring. It's nice to see them agressive and catching two at a time.

Pretty Good Day On The Rock.. Could've Been Better
magicwormman replied to Ozark Outdoorsman's topic in Table Rock Lake
I've had great luck with power pro, both on spinning and bait casting gear. I've used 10lb to 20lb for bass and used 65 lb for Musky and Peacock bass. It's a bit pricey, but it lasts for years and gives me very little problems. -
Pretty Good Day On The Rock.. Could've Been Better

I'm with Captain Joe. I love to throw topwater on braid. It floats and you can throw it a mile. If you have your drag set light, you wont rip it out of their mouth, and can still horse them out of trees if necessary. One of my tricks is a eight foot Loomis, with a large spinning reel, spooled with 10 lb power pro. This line diameter is equal to 2 lb mono. I also use this line for my dropshot, tied to a ball bearing swivel. Than I use 8 lb fluorocarbon to my hook and weight. -
Welcome home Bill!!! The fishing reports have been pretty scarce since you left. I think you might be the only guy fishing the Rock these days. When is the halibut feed? I WOULD BOOK A COUPLE OF DAYS AT YOUR LODGE FOR SOME FRESH HALIBUT. I've heard a few reports on some topwater action...........I'm ready.

I would look in the Kimberling City area. There are several resorts available in the area that would work for you and I think most have a bass boat for rent. If you can't find anything, let us know and we will try to help.

I need more info to help you out. What part of the Rock do you want to fish? What type of boat do you want? How nice a cabin are you looking for? There are lots of resorts, that rent boats, and all or most of them are available in October.
-
Remind me NOT to fish with you, if you're that hard on yourself!!! That was good!!! I thought you had to be fishing with your wife. Still not a bad day on the Rock!!!!
-
I think the number one question is, "where are you located"????? There are many good spots that were you can launch and fish. If you give people that info, I'm sure you're going to get a lot of information.

The topwater bite has been very tough for me the last couple of months. You may catch a few short fish early or if you have some cloudy weather. I wouldn't waste too much time on it now. Come back in mid October or late April to early May and you will get your topwater fix. I prefer a spook, spook junior, giant dog x, or the fin. Good luck!!!
-
Table Rock for sure!! I would pick the week around the full moon in April. You will catch a few spawners, but mostly pre spawn. I feel this is the best big fish time period. If you want numbers, end of April to early May get my vote. You can't go wrong with Beck or Babler for a guide. If you looking for Largemouth I would fish the James or the Kings River. If you want Smallmouth or Kentuckys I would fish the dam area to Kimberling City.

I have to admit, I'm a little bit envious. It sounds like fun. When your wrestling with those big monsters, think about us, sweltering in this heat, desperatly trying to catch a bass or two. Good luck and be safe!!

Good job Jason!!! I used to night fish all the time, back in the 70's and 80's and loved it. I may have to get back into it. It sound like everyone is catching some fish. Good weights and thanks for the reports.

It looks like I'm going to have to install a security camera on my boat slip. I keep my boat on a slip in Buzzards Branch, up the James. I took the Mrs. fishing this morning, dropped the trolling motor, and nothing. Opened the battery compartment and found my new pro series batteries missing (bought on 3-21-2011. This is the first time I've had anything stolen. They did leave me my starting battery. Bummer!!!!

I would try Joe Bald Park, located at the end of Joe Bald Road. The park is actually closed, but you can still fish from shore. The point on the North side is very close to deep water and holds fish year around. You should be able to catch panfish and Bass and it won't be crowded. Good Luck!

GREAT DETAILED REPORT!!! It's people like you that makes this an awesome site. Your detailed report, including locations will help lots of people catch fish, during a tough time of the year. It sounds like you had a pretty good trip. We'll see you in the fall. Hopefully, like many of us, you will retire here someday. It was my dream since 1972 and here I is. There is a GOD and he loves us!!!!

Great fish RPS!! How many guys go to Canada every year and never come close to a fish like this. Great fish for a great guy!!!

If your schedule is flexible, I would come down around the middle of October. The kids are back in school, the weather is cooler, the trees are turning, and fishing is normally much better. If I can be of any help, call me at 417-739-5381, or Email at magicwormman@yahoo.com. I live in Kimberling City and may be able to help out. Ken Spaanem

It really depends on what part of the lake that you want to fish. Table Rock is loaded with resorts that have docks on the water. Let us know what you are interested in, besides fishing, and we can help you out. RPS is right on with the info on Guides. August is a very tough month and you may have to use crawlers. Keep reading this forum and you will learn a wealth of information. I've fished this lake for over 40 years and I still learn from this forum. Great people, who are willing to share information and try to help everyone catch fish.

Does anyone know if Stacy held on to win? I have a feeling he won it, and if so congrats to a great guy!

I finally delivered my marriage vow to put my bride on a big bass. This 7 lb. beauty hit a chartreuse/white spinnerbait in about five feet of water near Kimberling City. She said it was the best Mothers day present she could get. It sure is great having a fishing partner that you love, even when she out fishes me.

This is for our out of town friends who don't get a chance to see how our lake looks. The first picture was taken near pt. 13 on the James River. The damage docks were located in West Fisher, just north of Kimberling Inn. The last picture shows how close the water is to the road on the south end of HWY 13 bridge at Kimberling City. There is room for a boat to go under the bridge on the north side. THANK GOD THE RAIN HAS STOPPED!!!!

Right now the water color around Kimberling City has just a little color and if you use common sense, it is very fishable. However, some of the color and trash from the rivers will come down stream. It's a guess on anyones part, but if it was me, I would take the chance and come down. I had some great fishing during the high water of 2008 and this should be just as good. The water is almost touching the south end of Kimberling City bridge, but you can get a boat under the north end of the bridge.
