Dock Slip W/ Lift Lock ?
flytyer57 replied to Billfo's topic in Tips & Tricks, Boat Help and Product Review
BP also had a "fail safe" valve. I would make sure the boat is tied off in case it does fail and lower the boat into the water so it don't float down to the dam before you get back. -
Nice fish. It looks like you were fishing from a pier? Is that a stringer I see?

Being unemployed again, I couldn't host a swap, but I'd have plenty of time to tie up a bunch. A swap sounds like a nice idea. Who's brave enough to be the "Swapmeister?"

Officials Hear Complaints About Lake Levels
flytyer57 replied to Zack Hoyt's topic in Conservation Issues
When will humans ever learn that they cannot control mother nature? Dams along the rivers to help prevent flooding downstream. Levies along the rivers to keep back flood waters. If you build in a flood prone area, expect to get flooded out and all of the money spent (wasted) by the USACOE isn't going to make a bit difference. -
You didn't have a never been to Branson. I've never been to Branson except for passing through a few times.

There are life vests made as a belt. You fall over, it inflates and all ya gotta do is put it over your head. Now how hot can a small belt get compared to drowning because you were hot????

Copied from "Wikipedia." Evanescence was originally promoted in Christian stores. Later, the band made it clear they did not want to be considered part of the Christian rock genre.[62] Terry Hemmings, CEO of Christian music distributor Provident, expressed puzzlement at the band's about-face, saying "They clearly understood the album would be sold in these [Christian music] channels."[63] After many Christian stores began to remove the band's music from their shelves, Wind-up Records chairman Alan Meltzer then issued a press release in April 2003 requesting formally that they do this.[64] In 2006, Amy Lee told Billboard that she had opposed being identified as a "Christian band" from the beginning.[65]

Copied dfrom an interview with "Spin" magazine: Evanescence took about two years off. Why return now? For a long time I didn't know what I wanted to do. I really love scoring film and that was definitely where my head was. I took a few stabs at doing that, but then I started writing more songs. I had such a good time in the studio with Will "Science" Hunt recording "Sally's Song" -- it was a cool, free, creative space. So we thought, "Why don't we just try writing an original song?" He has a studio in Forth Worth, TX, and we spent two days down there writing and a new song came out that was so different -- it was dark and inspiring. It was a groove that I hadn't found in a long time. So we spent all of last year writing like crazy and somewhere halfway through I said, "You know, I think we're writing an Evanescence album." Is there a lyrical theme? I write about what I'm going through at the time. There are moments of, "Hey, I'm over it and I'm good" and others of fun sarcasm like, "Hey, everything's not the most dramatic thing in the world." But it gets really, really, really deep in places, too. That's probably why it's been really hard to pick an album title. [Laughs] But lyrically, it's a more real version of myself. I'm saying things that I would've been afraid to say before. I'm more confident and more comfortable.

Evanescense has a new CD coming out this fall.

To me the song does not encourage or condone suicide. It is about someone who has attempted suicide "I tried to kill the pain, but only brought more, so much more, I lay dying, and I'm pouring crimson regret and betrayal." The lines "my wounds cry for the grave, my soul cries for deliverance," is obviously about suffering so much mental pain and anguish that she feels suicidal but is calling out for help. The "Tourniqet" is to stop the bleeding and that pain. Taking the words from the song "Sweet Sacrifice" (I dream in darkness I sleep to die, Erase the silence, Erase my life, Our burning ashes Blacken the day, A world of nothingness, Blow me away.) Surely this cannot be "faith based" but more again about the dark side of life. This is again about the dark inner feelings of pain and suffering in someones mind. From the song "Lithium" we have, " I can't hold on to me, Wonder what's wrong with me. Lithium, don't want to lock me up inside. Lithium, don't want to forget how it feels without... Lithium, I want to stay in love with my sorrow." Lithum is not about any "faith based" anything. It's a drug used to treat bi-polarism and other mental disorders. Almost every song Evanescense does has some type of reference to someone either dying, wanting to die, feeling the pain of losing someone, ("My Immortal") feeling lost in life, etc. To me, that is not "faith based."

Faith based? Their music is based more on the dark side of life. With songs like " My Immortal"---"Going Under"--- "Lithium"---"Weight of the World"---"Lose Control"---"All That I'm Living For"---"Taking Over Me"---"My Last Breath"... Here's the lyrics to the song "Tourniquet" which is not about god, but about Suicide. Tourniquet EVANESCENCE I tried to kill the pain but only brought more so much more I lay dying and I'm pouring crimson regret and betrayal I'm dying, praying, bleeding and screaming am I too lost to be saved am I too lost? my God my tourniquet return to me salvation my God my tourniquet return to me salvation do you remember me lost for so long will you be on the other side or will you forget me I'm dying, praying, bleeding and screaming am I too lost to be saved am I too lost? my God my tourniquet return to me salvation my God my tourniquet return to me salvation I want to die!!! my God my tourniquet return to me salvation my God my tourniquet return to me salvation my wounds cry for the grave my soul cries for deliverance will I be denied Christ tourniquet my suicide

If I don't think the guide puts forth a serious effort, I will never use his service again and word of mouth srpeads pretty quick about lousy service.

I totally agree.

I check the gauges for the Buffalo River and Crooked Creek quite regularly. There is one gauge in particular that I'm interested in here. That is the temperature gauge at Harriet on the Buffalo. It has been getting as high as 32 degrees C. That comes out to be about 89.6 degrees F. Now here's my question. Is that gauge out of the water or in some slow pool or is the water really that warm? I went wading in Crooked Creek last Monday, and yes the water was quite warm there, but not no 89 degrees. The Buffalo is a bigger river so I figure it might be a tad cooler than the creek. Does anyone have an answer for this gauge reading?????

When I got caught up in that snag on Shoal Creek a few weeks ago, I had my vest on but did not have it zipped or buckeled. When I got out of that mess, I realized how fast it can happen and zipped and buckeled that vest before I got back on my yak. Trust me people, it can happen real fast and you won't have time to put it on. Or zip and buckle it.

That is exactly my point. Our politicians are given so much money from big oil that they turn their heads to alternative fuels. As I mentioned in another post, there is a company in New Jersey, who found a way to make solar panels smaller and cheaper. he went to Washington to try to get some of that stimulus money to get the idea off the ground. Start up costs. He was told no, go to China. So now he's signing a deal with China. And that is what I've been trying to say all along. we need to find alternative fuels and develop them here in this country before "being passed by other nations." And yes, plastics are a byproduct of oil among other things. But they don't use as much oil as all the cars being driven every day. If we can find and deploy alternative fuels at least for our cars, we would become totally independant from oil from places like Iran and not paying them to develop nuclear weapons.

Glad to hear the lens is ok. I really liked that pic of the B-25 Mitchell bomber. Reminds me of home back in Milwaukee. The airport there is named after Gen. Billy Mitchell, as is the bomber. Years ago, they had a B-25 out at the entrance to the airport on Howell Ave. Sure brought back some memories. Thanks.

Sorry to hear about the camera lens. At least ya got some great pics to show for it.

Yes, the "Spill, Baby, Spill" is a political statement. But after the mess in the gulf, I couldn't pass up the oportunity to throw it back at those who would rather we have more of the same instead of putting our efforts into alternative fuels. I will however take it down when I come up with something better. I'll try to come up with something this week. As for your canoe, you could be a little more imaginative and come up with some way to trailer it behind your bike.

The politics you see here shouldn't be here. This is a "fishing" forum. Everybody has their own political beliefs, and we sometimes express them when we shouldn't, especially on conservation issues. I hope you enjoy these forums as I have, and don't be afraid to ask questions or help others with your experience. Welcome aboard.
