    Don't they allow centerfire handguns during regular gun season? If it's a muzzel loading season, they should keep it at that.

    Took this pic standing on the ramp to the lower parking lot just below the dam today. Anyone familiar with this area will notice the parking lot and the picnic tables with sun shades are under water. (if they are sill there)

    The first photo was taken on Jan 27th when the lake was about 9.5 feet below the top of power pool. The second photo was taken today when the lake was .04 feet above the top of flood pool. A difference of about 37.5 feet.

    The town is under a mandatory evacuation. Would only serve right if now that the Birds Point levee is blown, that the town that they were trying to save is destroyed by the failure of the levee that was built to protect it. The levee around Cairo was failing anyway. Why should they have not blown that one instead?

    Some people in this country would rather see the government spend billions of dollars on ships and airplanes and tanks and nuclear warheads to destroy the lives of those they hate, than see one needy person get a health care or a single meal for one day in his miserable life. And that would include the homeless veterans wandering our streets.

    I still get a little funny feeling when walking through the craft stores and craft department at Walmart. Not a real manly feeling to be seen there. Wish my wife was still alive. I used her as an excuse for my reason for being there.

    I don't think there will be much difference from the slab to Pyatt with the slab missing. It didn't back up that much. The only real difference will be just above the slab.

    Why is that? Because I'm on disability? I've paid my taxes and served my country. What about the people who work for cash under the table and don't pay their payraoll taxes? Should they have a say in budget cutting?

    I hope that after they blow the Birds Point levee, the levee around Cairo fails and floods the town anyway.

    The biggest threat to the survival of the salmon has always been the dams. Then we hear about the Pebble Mine fiasco in Alaska.

    Ok. So they blow the levee and drain the flood waters of the Miss. into the farm lands. Then what? Rebuild the levee again? That is BS. Let the darn levees fail and quit messing around. It's time to move people. You've had too many chances already. And these people wonder how the government can start cutting budgets. Let them start with no more levees.

    I've always wanted to float from the headwaters of the Mississippi in Minnesota down to New Orleans. Anybody else interested?

    Only problem is, Al Quaida is not dead. I wouldn't be surprised if we see new attacks around the world in retaliation for Bin Ladens death. And the troops will still be fighting the Taliban in Afgahnistan for a long time unless the Pentagon changes their strategy for winning that war.

    Not when the kid gets to be fifteen and eating you out of house and home. Then there's college tuition to take away from funds for fishing.

    After the rains last nite, I bet the whole lake is one big mud bowl again. I had hoped to get the yak out to Pigeon Creek and try the fishing there. Gonna have to wait until the mud settles again.

    Why should the farmers get the shaft because Cairo built their homes and business in equally bad places? It's the Cairo levee not doing it's job. Blow it.
