  1. That's what I scored and I don't normally fish for trout.
  2. Not a problem.
  3. Ummm... My wife died 4 years ago and I still haven't found anyone worthy of taking her place.
  4. Not gonna be around. Going back up to WI to freeze my butt off for the holidays.
  5. Norfork has been more stable with generation in the morning and then again in the evening. Only problem is, with Bull Shoals generating so much, the Norfork tends to get a bit crowded. If the weather forcast holds tomorrow, I think I'm gonna hit the Norfork.
  6. I'd be ok with an open swap. Tie up whatever pattern you feel comfortable tying. I don't fish with the flies I receive from fly swaps. I save them with the tyers name and from what swap they are from. If I like a fly, I'll try to copy it and use that for fishing. I have over 100 flies from around the world that I have collected from swaps. Can't see using one and losing it to the tree gods and never have that fly again.
  7. I used to listen to that stuff and then I grew up and got some real music in my soul called ROCK-N-ROLL.
  8. Sure. But probably gonna have to limit myself to around 25 flies.
  9. If you know make and model you could do an internet search. Otherwise take them to an antiques dealer. Google "st. louis camera shops" and they might be able to help you. Try this page.
  10. Well, when you're on your way to work, just keep driving another 90 minutes...
  11. I've never used a Peak vise but I do use the Renzetti Cam Traveler. Never had a problem with hook slippage. The old Traveler vises did not have a cam lock system and because of that there could have been some problems. But, since they introduced the cam lock system, I haven't heard of any problems with hooks slipping. You'll break your thread before you slip a hook. Using the Renzetti Cam Traveler, I've tied on size 20 hooks up to size 2 bass bug hooks and never had a problem.
  12. Lead core line is mainly used for long-line trolling. All it really does is add weight in the line to help drag the line and lure down deeper. I guess if one was fishing a full sink fly line, it could actually have a lead core. But most sinking lines use tungsten powder to add weight to the plastic lines these days.
  13. Not fly rods either. Rods for fishing with lead core line.
  14. Oh come on Chief. Even I can figure out that these are rods designed for lead core line fishing.
  15. 2½ inch tube jigs in a brown or watermellon should work great.
  16. I'm not sure how far Gastons is below the dam, but from the dam down to the state park is closed fising this time of year and the state park area is catch and release. There are several places to launch a boat or wade on the White. Two very good books for locating fishable water and access are 1)Home Waters and 2)Flyfishers Guide to Missouri and Arkansas. I know Home Waters is available at Blue Ribbon Flies, and I think I bought my copy of Flyfishers Guide there too. As for fishing Norfork, there are just two accesses on the river. The boat launch below the dam and the Ackerman Access. Only the dam access has a boat launch. There is an access on the White just below the junction of the White and Norfork. Not sure if there is a boat launch there, but you can take out there if you float with a kayak, canoe etc.
  17. I've used lead core a few times fishing for walleye back in WI. I'd add about 30' to my mono line to help get the lures down while trolling. I would imagine those rods would target the walleye guys. Can't think of much else use for them except for maybe stripers, but will the rods hold up them?
  18. Kissed by a coon. Now that's funny.
  19. Most of the carbon fiber that is used to make rods is probably shipped from Korea. There are companies in the states that make it, but it's quite a bit more expensive. Could be the reason a Sage, Winston, Scott etc rods are so expensive. They might use American made fibers. Aluminum is quite readily available here in the states. I doubt they import aluminum.
  20. I get cranky when I don't get my fix
  21. If I can find a good product made here in the states, like a rod or reel, I'll buy it. If not... I went to Walmart the other day cuz I needed some new shirts. Ended up buying shirts that were made in Pakistan. I know that most of the stuff we buy nowdays is made overseas. There isn't much we can really do about it. I don't know of anybody in this country that is in the textile industry anymore. Even Levis packed up and went overseas. I no longer buy Levis but the Lees or Wranglers I do buy are probably made overseas too. My Plymouth van was made in Canada. A lot of Fords & GM's are built in Canada, Mexico or Japan. I could buy a Toyota and know it's made here in the states but that defeats the purpose of buying American. I prefer to buy American when I can and I try to stay away from stuff made in China. The reason we have high unemployment in this country is because of all the companies shipping our jobs to places like China, and for that reason, I try not to buy anything made there.
  22. I do believe the CLA is Ross's replacement for the Cimarron. Cimarron Large Arbor?
  23. Kodak 26x Zoom for $300 KODAK EASYSHARE Z981 Digital Camera
  24. I never pull my leader/tippet through my fingers or a leader straightener due to the heat created. Just grab an end in each hand and pull in opposing directions. This stretches the leader/tippet and straightens them. Plus if there are any weak spots in them they will break before you catch that fish of a lifetime and then find out you have a weak spot in the line.
