  1. Wow Rich, that thing must be fast. Last time I saw you there was a complete head of hair!! Sounds like you won't make it for some time. Headed down on the 26th for a week. Keep working, things are getting tough out here. We (PD) dodged a bullet but they nailed several at City Hall.
  2. Hey hoosier, Isn't that the same city that they decided to not test for the Police applicants so they can get more um, people into the police ranks. Then all the packing home boys can carry legally!!
  3. Pass. Once is enough. I think we are going to hit it during Spring Break (last week in March). They are having it much later this year. Maybe we will get to fish the stream instead of the parking lots!!
  4. What does it matter to you Rich, your never in town long enough to use that new PUP!! Should I have guessed based on the weather that has come in, your back in town??
  5. I think I know. A local journalist had it in one of his articles. He writes for the Lebanan paper. If it is the one I'm thinking of it does resemble a CB. It has black hackle with a black thread body I think. I've tied some but it was a while back. I will research my records and see if I can find the article!!
  6. A pop up is another thought. Costs are less to get into them, they are cheaper to pull and easier to manage. I had one before the TT. The biggest difference that I have noticed is the up keep is less on the TT. I used the PUP pretty much year round. It was a Jayco 1207, did not have a heater/furnace or hot water. Keeping the mildew and the moisture out was a huge PITA. I sure enjoy my furnace and hot showers without having to leave the TT. One thing you may consider if your looking at a PUP. There are some smaller TT that might accomodate your family. Plus there is the hi/low's as well. Lot of possibilities out there. When I got the PUP the boss said she would never camp in the thing. Now that I have my "house on wheels" I can't get it out of the drive way without her. Since it's just the 2 of us and our 3 Brittany's I guess I can fit her in..
  7. osuangler, Not having much experience my wife and I purchased our first last year. The one thing we did find was that there was many TT manufacturing companies going out of business. We based our decision on what appeared to be the most financially sound company and the trailers features (in that order). We ended up with a Forest River Wildwood 27 footer bumper. It is the cheapest of all the Forest River units as well as one of the lighter ones. So far no significant problems. I would suggest you purchase from someone that is close so that you don't have to take a day off to have it serviced if need be. I purchased mine from Olathe Kansas RV in Gardner Kansas. They are due west of my home and about 20 minutes away. They have a full service staff to include the ability to repair big diesel pushers and interiour work. I was impressed. Good luck.
  8. Rich, That's funny setting here talking to my partner about finding some training out that way and saw your post. What's the chance you can run by Los Vegas PD and do some follow up for me on a forgery. If I get a warrant can you drag the guy back for me?? LOL> Stap him to the hood of that big dually like a fricking deer. Speaking of deer, do any good? Was going to hook on to the trailer over the holidays and spend New years at BSSP but I couldn't get the thing dug out of the snow drift with my tractor. YOU DOG! Remind me to tell you about Dixie and her near death experience. Bottom line, I spent a ton of money on her so she is truely the "golden child". Pat
  9. A buddy and I are thinking about heading south to either Taney or the White after the first of the year to do a little winter fly fishing. We will either be bringing my Travel Trailer or his Class A motor home. Neither one of us have been to either place but have heard plenty of good things about both. We have 2 basic questions. 1. Which location will be the best? 2. When? Any suggestions?
  10. Like Gavin said, just play with it. I don't recall what Ed Story's original pattern called for with the hurl application on the FC Crackleback. Depending on what size your tying, 12, 14, 16 depends on how many pieces I use. I usually use 1 with a 16, 2 with 14 and 3 with the 12. However depending on the the hurl, I have purchased some that was "skinny" and had to use more. I have spoke to some fellows that don't mess with the hurl. They think it is too much trouble. I like to use it personally. Another technique to keeping the thing together and for it to last longer is to wrap it with ex-small copper or gold wire. When I'm stripping them deep sometimes the strikes are pretty viscous. That causes the fly to self destruct. If I counter wrap the wire as the last thing through the hackle and over the hurl then it seems to hold together better. Plus it gives it a little sparkle. What do you use for the body? I have used everything from chewing gum wrappers to cheerleader pom pon strands. Anything that had a good color and flash. I currently have reverted back to the original pattern using the dyed goose biots. They make a nice "fuzzy" ribbed body. Pat
  11. MaxDrown, Thanks so much for the link. As I set here watching Saturday college football thinking Dixie and I should be chasing roosters, I look over at her lying helplessly on the couch. Just got her out of the doggie hospital after ACL surgery. Thank god I have plenty of tail feathers from last year, it doesn't appear she and I will be able to get out due to her surgery. Articles like that bring back plenty of hunting memories gone by. So I will pull myself up to the tying bench and whip up some of my favorite PT variations for this winter's catch and release! Thanks again Pat & Dixie
  12. oneshot- Clarence Holland is this coming weekend I believe. Have you ever tried campground 5? It's my favorite and I never (knock on wood) had a problem getting a site. It is first come first serve. Plus you have more space between sites. Only drawback is the size of your rig. Then you have to be a little more selective. If you get down there on Thursday evening you will probably find a site open in 5. Friday morning you still might but sometimes it fills up quick. I was down this past weekend, arriving Wednesday evening. There were only about a dozen campers. It stayed that way until Friday around noon and the trailers started arriving. But 5 never got full. Plus you don't have to pay that darn $8.00 reservation fee! Good luck. Pat
  13. That's ok, I've become use to the rise and fall of BSSP over the last couple of years. Biggest disappointment will be the Dry Fly action. Have been waiting for it for some time. Just have to work the seams and pockets, maybe dig out some streamers.
  14. Thanks for the post FFM. I remember you talking about your floppy balls pattern but for the life of me I can't remember the recipe????? Looks like I need to check out my midge box and see if I've got good inventory!!
  15. So Rich and FFM how did you do? Heading down Wednesday evening!!
  16. PC. I'm jealous!! Haven't had a chance to fish with you this year. Wonder what the boss would say if I hooked up the Trailer and followed you?? Just kidding, some of us have to work for a living!! Would be nice to get NoLuck on the wagon and head out as a crew. Pat
  17. Actually it appears most of all the park has either filled in or changed somewhat.
  18. Arrived at BSSP on Tuesday last week. Was amazed of the number of people there. I usually land the TT in campground 5 with no problem. Picking a good campground was tough. I got lucky and found a great spot and got set up in the rain. Headed down Wednesday morning and started hitting my favorite spots except just above the Holland dam, too busy. My biggest producing technique was stripping cracklebacks on sink tip line. Brown and Rusty Zebra midges were pretty good in the high bank area. I managed to draw 1 riser last night on a hopper just below the hollan dam in the slack water. That was my only riser. And I stand corrected from previous posts. Most of the fish I caught were quality fish. As far as weather goes it could not have been better. Water was very clear and slow. I am very suprised of the change in the stream bed. The hole just above the dam is 1/2 the size. There are places up river (Island area) where you can actually wade to the far side. I observed a couple of Conservation fella's in a truck checking out the situation above the dam last night. Hopefully they are thinking about dredging out some of the gravel. If they don't then the stripping hole will be no more if we have more floods like we did this year. All in all a good trip. Pat
  19. Was able to get away for a few days and headed down to BSSP. Fished wednesday caught 2 dozen or so. Rusty midge was good as well as a pheasant tail. This morning I hit the high bank at the suggestion of no luck. His Primrose and pearl only yield 1. My P&P yielded many more, sorry Rich!. Now I'm setting guard on a campsite for a friend. The evening hatch was tough last night only took 1 dink in a thread midge. No risers. Thankfully have untill next Tuesday!
  20. I'm headed down this afternoon with the trailer. NoLuck was down there Monday slaying them with his new WINSTON in the high bank area with his specially designed PP zebra midges. Pat
  21. That area is where I did my best, fishing the holes. I used a copper zebra midge that I got from Tim. Then switched to a rusty brown/orange and did as well. Sounds like your getting some fishing in? Been to BSSP lately? Headed down there this afternoon as soon as I can get out of the office. Pat
  22. PC- My boss and I hit it about 3 weeks ago on our way back from Santa Fe NM. I had very good luck the first day on a copper zebra midge (16) that Tim hooked me up with. Your right that place is lousy with violators. Did you see the "vinyl hatch"? You working yet? Pat
  23. Hey Rich- So you did it? What did you get?? I've got a bunch of MODs (ideas) for you when you get to that point. Send me a pic. Pat
  24. A vinyl hatch is what another gentleman referred to a bunch rafters float through the area where we were fishing onthe trophy area at Roaring River. I can't say that I have witnessed anyone swimming at Bennett. At least not by choice!
