Dude you need help...there are meetings for that....but the first step is admitting you have enough wiggle warts then we can get to work.

This cranking for crappie deal just keeps getting better!!
Stump bumper replied to Lance34's topic in Beaver Lake
I was out last night with the light from sundown until midnight. I set up on a ceder tree in 30 feet of water with some brush around it. I got a load of minnows quick and filled the minnow bucket then put out three rods. Before long I had 10 feet of bait below the boat, but not one bite. So I thought I was too shallow so I started drifting into 70 feet of water, I could not see anything past 16 feet because the bait ball I was dragging with me blocked out the depth finder just solid red and even down imaging showed nothing but a green blob.. Gave up right after midnight, as soon as I tuned out the light the fish finder went back to 79 feet and showed fish on shad at 18 feet. Just shared this to show you method is much better than mine. -
Where do you want temp and clarity units on Beaver?
Stump bumper replied to Ben Gillispie's topic in Beaver Lake
I would guess Hickory Creek, Horseshoe Bend, Prairie Creek, Rocky Branch and Starky would pretty much cover the lake. -
When bass are up shallow and feeding on big bait they are great, this time of year they hard to get deep enough and IMO summer is the time to downsize. Unless you can find nest raiders after dark. There is just tons of small fry running around right now, and that is what everything seems to key in on. I have caught a lot of stripers on those in the winter.

Thought I start a post about bath tub water fishing. I don't fish much this time of year just because my temper boils to easy. But my theory is most fish lay on bottom just under the thermocline near big shad travel ways. Two or three times a day they will rush up through those shad and drive them to the top and feed on them on the way up and back down to the bottom then sit there. There are few big bass that will brave the heat to raid sunfish beds near deep drop offs then go back to their deep water haunts. There are hundreds of fresh water springs under the lake that provide a great source of O2 rich water much deeper that most people think to fish and it my theory that people that weigh in regular big bags have everyone of those springs marked on their GPS. I think the two species that you will find above the thermocline this time of year are catfish and gar since they need little O2 to survive. That is very little on dog day fishing so please add what you have have learned about the dog days of summer.

I suggest you fish in the water near your boat and I have heard most people have been catching them with experience.

Great information ! Thank you for sharing. I am really glad to hear about Swepco, that is such a turn around from when it was catch and release only lake and they were all small and starving. I have not fished swepco in years but really glad it is doing so good just the same.

I also remember when I could see a trick worm and a bass hit it at 15 feet of water 10 yards away on a calm day on Beaver. We will never see water that clear again. Back then if you were using more than 6lb test you could watch the bass run in then turn away inches from the worm. That was only 10 years ago, but the lake sure has changed, and IMO made fishing easier but I do miss that clear blue water. All this talk and I am going to dig through my worms and if I don't have any trick worms in all those bags, I am going to buy some. Black and old purple if I can find them. That old purple is getting rare.

A slow fall black trick worm with no weight used to be my go to bait when the fish were sluggish. Now I don't have a package in the boat and I don't know why, just something I got away from. I guess waiting on worm to fall 10-15 feet just got to slow but I do remember catching a lot of bass that way.

Congrats on the win last night Steven Meador!!

I never have been much of a night fisherman so any 5 fish limit amazes me unless it's whites under the lights. 18 1/2 after dark is just unbelievable. I think a lot had do with how few fish were caught in the high water and now that normal water levels are bring the bait and fish back together we are just seeing bigger fish. That along with two mild winters in a row has done wonders for the threadfin population. But hats off to your 12 1/2 lbs Mike, I could never do that after sunset on my best day. -
Maybe time time to move North, wish we had some reports from the guys running lights North of Point 5. There are aways a lot of boats tied to trees up there.

Well looks like the storm was early and headed down to Fort Smith for the worst of it. So sorry for the false alarm.
-
If you are headed to the Lake or know someone out there now watch the radar. BAD storm just east of Tulsa headed this way. 6pm-9pm will be the worst. If there is a Thursday night jack pot, someone please call them.

I made the mistake of putting a senco in the same box with mine and even though they didn't touch a really bad chemical reaction started. So after watching the above video, I still put the jig heads on, then put them in the bags then fold the bags up in the box. I combine 3 bags into one same color in each bag. At almost $6 per bag, I am not willing to loose all of them again by not following directions, also I was not able to use them on a day the fish were dialed in on the ned and went through two bags of senckos since I had to replace them every other fish. I never read the bag, so that is the reason I shared the video, just in case someone else finds a load of goop where there neds used to be they can see they are not alone.

I hope that is a worm proof box, I had mine in the wrong box and all those Z-man plastics turned to goop. I don't take chnces now and keep them in the wrapper they come in.

Getting back to white lights or green, if you are making your own you don't have to choose. If you go to superbrightleds.com or look for them on Amazon you can get lights that have a switch that can change the color of the lights while in the water. Wish I would have noticed that before I made mine, next time I make one. I wonder if you had one off the back and one off the front and a Disco Ball in between....? Going to get down tonight.......

Last time I had one of those it was in my finger and couldn't get anyone at the dock to pull on the line for me and couldn't bring myself to do it with my left hand. I went to an Urgent care center and the doc who pulled it out was a young female about 25 years old and 90 lbs. She asked if she could sit in my lap to get a better angle. After that experience I almost want to stick one in my hand on purpose.....Took her about 10 minutes and she kept apologizing, I just just smiled through the whole procedure. Insurance paid but I almost left a tip....

Yes, same length just bigger lights on the strip.

https://www.amazon.com/SUPERNIGHT-Density-Green-Waterproof-Light/dp/B00BSODFOK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1468430544&sr=8-1&keywords=led+light+strip+green+waterproof Above is a link to the lights I used and also at the bottom they have the tube and sealant I also ordered it has 600 leds but wish I had ordered the bigger ones. They are in a 2 foot tube with plenty of room. Sorry, I checked my order again and I got the 300 LEDS 3528s if I had done more research I would have ordered the 300 5050 LED strip. For about two more dollars twice the light.

Have you checked out Holiday Island? That by far is my favorite place on Table Rock. Quite, remote but not too far out IMO. I can never get over how much you can get for so little. It is a trip to get to Walmart but if you are looking for a true retirement community that is where I would suggest. It is the only place I know a middle class working man can retire with a lake in his back yard a golf course in his front yard and to boot they have the best and cleanest boat launch in the area and it is free. I have never meet anyone in that area that did not treat me like a long lost friend, great people even though some are from California.LOL I currently live in Rogers and have since 2001, but my next move will be to Holiday Island. Even though old hippies are fun to talk with there.

I am one of those posters on Beaver lake and can tell you I made a great light, but learned some lessons on the way. I won't repeat those on this thread. But if you are looking to buy, go BIG, wish I would have searched Amazon more before making mine. There are some good deals out there for under $50 so I would not recommend running out and spending $180 unless you just need it NOW. They really do work around the docks a Prairie Creek on Beaver, they are all over the place and you can see kids catching everything from crappie to stripers every night. I love to cruse the docks on my way in just to see what is hanging around them. I have seen huge crappie, bass and even carp that have become pets. Good luck

I hope you are right, I hate not having brake lights or turn signals even in the middle of the day. I have a lot of traffic to to go through to get home. I also Soldered the connections and used shrink wrap, I am hoping the LEDS are tougher and cooler than the old bulbs. Anyway there seem to be a lot more LED bulbs in there so maybe that will play to my advantage. I don't understand why a poor ground would blow a bulb, but grounded through the white wire anyway, lights were set up to ground to the trailer. I understand the bulb won't work without a ground, but how come it would blow?
-
Maybe better made lights 18 years ago? I could have just replaced the two big bulbs, but with evidence of corrosion and the fact I just replaced them a couple months ago I decided on trying a different light all together. I am not launching in the dark and it takes me at least ten minutes to get ready also. I am hoping the LED hold up better than the last set, guess I am alone in blowing so many bulbs.
