  1. That is why opening flood gates by not planning ahead upsets me so much. We end up burning coal and natural gas because there is no planning. I see wind farms in so many states now that Arkansas fights like drug use so the only natural energy production the state has is hydroelectric and we don't know how to plan out it's use.
  2. Should be a while before they talk about about water rationing around here.
  3. It's just not our chain, there are lakes in OK they didn't see baot launches all summer and they are right back up to flooding bridges and roads. In ND I heard there was too much ground water to plant corn this year. Seems normal to have too much water or too little water for farming but it seems weird to have too much water to fish!
  4. Seems to me the more they pull the dirtier it gets, the lake needs to sit still to clear, also there has to be a river to take the run off all even the Mississippi is flooding due to warmer than usual weather in the North. Nice thing is should be not spring melt off and they should be able to move the spring rains.
  5. I think I know all there is to know about bass fishing, it is the bass that need to go to the class....they are the ones not responding the way they should. Then again I was educated in Arkansas Schools so I understand where they are coming from.
  6. I have caught 20 in the back of MN from the boat when they were feeding, you just have to keep your trolling motor on low and make long cast. Now when one boat runs back on his big motor, it is over and they run for deep water.
  7. You would be surprised how many stripers will show in the back of those coves in two feet of water. Back of MN and right off point 12 down at the end of that creek. You just have to hit the days there are not any boats running them out. I have caught 30lbers with half there backs out of the water on jerk baits chasing shad onto the shore, with this high water I bet they will be way below the sidewalk hole by now. I have seen some non stop days in muddy water way up the river in the winter time. I bet you could run a bass boat all the way to the mill right now. This muddy water running off fishermen should leave more BIG FISH for the ones who figure them out.;)
  8. It only has to get around 42 and threadfin will start dying off. Usually when the shallows start freezing over at night. Doesn't take much to get a football field of shad floating.
  9. Anyone see any ice yet ? If we can get cold enough for some ice to start forming we should have a good shad die off. I am ready to get rid of some threadfin.
  10. Walmart has installed Kiosk for that so maybe they will catch on at the gas station. If you don't smoke or buy lottery tickets or drink coffee, I don't know why you go inside but that is you business. Myself I missed getting a ticket because I didn't inside a gas station since Monday and have been going through two tanks a day. Besides Champ your recliner isn't going anywhere...........
  11. I am in Minot,ND right now and would love to see water that is not hard !! Get out and enjoy it. If you think it is cold, come spend the week with me and next weekend you will be fishing in shorts !
  12. I have been fishing Beaver since 2001 and have never seen this much high water.
  13. I saw where Active, Guard and Reserve can get free tags. Has anyone here tried a retired Military ID ? After all we are still in the Reserves. I am talking about Regular full time retired not gray area Reserve retirement, not that many people will know the difference unless it applies.
  14. I heard of poor results flipping brush, did anyone try throwing flukes in the brush around those flipping shad? I was netting shad on the second looking for big gizzards and came up with more bass than gizzards. Every time I would see a big shad flip, I would throw the net and get a bass and tons of threadfin.
  15. My suggestion would be don't fish tournaments that force you to fish the lower end, then that is just me. I would still fish those days, just don't enter the tournament until you best the best. You really don't have to pay an entry fee to compete only to win.
  16. Can I ask how you get all these reports? I notice a few are taken by hand. Also is there an Iphone app?
  17. Well it looks like 1129 is where they are going to leave it for a while anyway. Generation has slowed and looks like a high water winter. Everyone thinks the winter is dry but the news from NASA is this El Nino is like nothing we have seen before and has not even started dumping on us, it will be wetter than 97-98. I am afraid will revisit this subject again soon. I understand the Corp has to get Bull down, then Table Rock before they can let anymore out of Beaver, but with all this water backed up in Beaver it will just multiply their problems when the winter rains they are not used to hit them from this system.
  18. Ok, now I have it. I read this wrong and thought only you went to Swepco but now I see the Polar Bear went to Swepco. Never mind
  19. Anyone get the story from the winning team? Were they up in the flooded brush ? Clean water or dirty? How many people were at the ramp staring at bent or broken props wondering what they hit?
  20. I picked up some "bed jigs" by Cabela's that are 3/16s and 3/32. Has anyone tried those.
  21. Were does one acquire those little mushroom jig heads again?
  22. If it was me I would be treating the boat like a 4 wheel drive and getting further back into the creeks than I had ever gone before looking for warm run off. I got my only 8lb plus Beaver Bass that way years ago on a Feb morning after a big rain storm. But as I have pointed out in the past I am usually wrong.
  23. With two days of full generation and the gates closed the water is holding just below 1130 by inches. I wonder how long they will be able to pass along the water? Getting Bull back down will be the priority now.
  24. So. back on subject....has the Polar Bear been moved ?
  25. I just saw that about the gates, generation is still at max so the mud line should progress, just not as fast. Right now there is no where to put the water, it has to go some where when it leaves the darn and everything downstream is flooding. Not even the Mississippi can hold any more and that is where it ends up. But I would not look to March and April for the next one, December is a "dry" month. This is going to be a super El Nino year, next storm cold be in Jan, Feb or we could be dealing with 30-35 inches of snow ! I think the time the Corps could have pulled down is past. I have never seen the mudline when it hits the wide part of Beaver, I wonder if it will continue to spread across or fall into the murky depths? There was a reason they used to pull down to 1115 in Oct but somewhere, someone forgot that reason.
