  1. Looks to be a small group, don't think I will put in my 2 cents now but I will complain about the outcome. I'm old and that is what we old men do.
  2. Think they fished crappie masters?
  3. They should run at 50 degrees????
  4. It is just what you started on, baitcasters are better reels overall, but I used spinning reels for years before moving up so when it comes to light lures and working something slow it is where my confidence lies, then I am very heavy on brakes with my baitcasters so if it is under 1/2 oz I pick up a spinning reel.
  5. Another good panfish lake is sweepco, everyone likes the big bass there but there is also giant bluegill and crappie and channel cats stocked there. I have seen bass boats launching on the back side of crystal lake but it isn't long enough to get on plain and the side by hwy 59, getting around by trolling motor is all you need except on and off the trailer. Good channel cats in that lake.
  6. Putting in at Hoseman's and fishing the tail waters is also a great way to beat the summer heat and avoid the water skiers, they tend to stay North of Holiday Island for the most part.
  7. One more question;Do you throw jerk baits on baitcasters or spinning reels? I always use spinning reels myself especially with rouges because they are so light and I just work jerk baits slower and can jerk them better with a spinning reel.
  8. So far I see: SB 1118 ft Trophy FishR 1122 ft F&F 1125 ft J-Doc 1123FT 1969 Larson 1131 feet Sore Thumbs 1124 FT Consent rise but no generation yet, should drop fast when people kick on the AC, rain again next weekend, could see full pool before the heat gets here.
  9. Looks like Wal-mart connecting with the working people thing raising money for a good cause so we forget what happened to the family busniess and so on. http://www.crappiemasters.net/home/index.php?type=rss
  10. Boat out of shop but still needs carbs fixed and tire, should be back on the lake soon.

  11. It is reading 48 this morning, it was reading 42 for a long time so I think the water temp is working again.
  12. Sorry I missed your guess Trophy fish.. So far I see: SB 1118 ft Trophy FishR 1122 ft F&F 1125 ft J-Doc 1123FT 1969 Larson 1131 feet
  13. So far I see: SB 1118 ft F&F 1125 ft J-Doc 1123FT 1969 Larson 1131 feet
  14. If those were all keepers that was not bad at all, what color were you using?
  15. Please share results, glad to see one other person here that has the same taste in Jerk baits.
  16. So far I see: SB 1118 ft F&F 1125 ft J-Doc 1123FT 1969 ?? Guess we will use June 21st as cut off and the high water mark between now and then.
  17. I saw the new 10 plus or whatever the name is, Rouge at HL&S. Has anyone tried it? Colors look great, thought about picking up a couple but already have some deep LC jerk baits I never throw, haven't had much look with deep diving jerk baits. Those colors really hooked me, someone tell me if they are hooking fish.
  18. I am betting spring rains are a month early and April thru Sept is bone dry.....we will see. Then we could bet 14 inches in a week and wash away Holiday island....
  19. Anyone want to start a pool on high water mark this spring, my guess is it won't hit full pool.
  20. Thanks, dropped it there yesterday and they promised as good as new for about $18, can't beat that, beats buying a $120 replacement.
  21. I wonder if that is the same guy as HL&S drop off?
  22. Is there a local reel repair? I see people drop reels at HL&S but most are there just for cleaning. I need some replacement parts and can mail them in to a few people I know but would like to save postage and use someone local.
  23. I remember fishing a tournament one year while the FLW was practicing and had just finished the week before on TR. We had one small fish in the boat around noon when we pulled up on Larry Nixon, so I trolled over to him and explained our story and asked him "were have you found fish?" he replied " ON TABLE ROCK". We can help with places for women to shop though, we are the center of the universe for retail. Eureka Springs is where you want to stay to fish upper Beaver lower Table Rock and find everything for the wife, but the cabins are not water front like Table Rock.
  24. Not too strange when you consider bass have an IQ of 4 and don't read bass fishing magazines. IMO catching fish has not gotten harder in 20 years just choosing lures has.
  25. I would agree the one I saw him using didn't look to be a custom paint job and I have a couple like that I bought at a Walmart clearance sale a few years back that need to be thrown sometime. I saw the new one( on the web site)with the big lip that dives to 10 feet but my personal experience with deep diving pointers and husky jerks is I don't catch fish off those deep diving jerk baits. I have had much better luck adding a little weight and getting the 4ft divers to sink to 10-20 feet when I need to get down there. Thanks for the memories, I might have talked to the same guy at the same bait shop back in the 80s because I remember fishing them the same way, long before suspend dots. lol
