  1. Nice Fish, thanks for sharing.
  2. Generation is going good 20 hours a day so it should get the fish moving and feeding. I have heard them late at night but I have not gotten on any, please lets know how you do.
  3. The way it was explained to me and was on the rule page was $12 for big bass too include big spot. Then $8 optional for 3 fish limit. One boat could take more than one prize on big Bass but only one 3 fish limit per boat, so since the 3 fish limit is optional why would each person in the boat pay the $8 you can not wiegh more than 3 fish anyway. Then again you could fish two people for $12 each for big bass only and pay $24. But the way the rules were stated I could not see why a two person team would pay $20 unless they were totally on thier own but if one person in the boat gets a check it disquilfies the other so why pay the $8 for both? If I am wrong, do you have a copy of the rules? I read them, asked questions, but did not bring a copy home. Then again since I was alone, I don't know if they are doing something different then they are writing down and the "optional" by the $8 had to be for both people in the boat but why would they have a rule about only one 3 fish limit per boat then? I am confused now can anyone close to the tournament director help out here?
  4. Last year on Beaver I had a great little bank picked out down near point 12 I was sure I could pull 2 or 3 keepers fast before dark since I suck at night fishing. When I rounded the courner I saw a house boat on my bank but thought I could fish around it. Droped the trolling motor looked up at the boat to ask permission to fish and saw two very nice nude young ladies tanning on top of the boat. The guy on deck welcomed me to fish around him. The problem here was my wife was my partner, so I didn't get to fish that point and ended the tournament with two fish.
  5. Well finally made it out for one and bombed bad, had one spot that held 1st for a while since I made it to the scales early. Not many people weighed spots so I was on edge for a while. There were some 4lb plus and biggest bag I saw was 9 something. Tough night, fish didn't come to the top in the places I saw them Monday even though there were shad cutting Vs everywhere. I had a spot that would have gone 5 but I lost it at the net, that was my first bite and the last good one I had. Did anyone else get the final weights or get the cash? The entry is $8 for 3 fish for the boat the $12 for the big fish that encludes 3 big fish places and big spot. So for one person in a boat it is $20 and for 2 people in a boat it is $32. Time is from 7pm to 10:30, it is a shotgun blast off with two waves.
  6. It has been in the flood pool way too long IMO, if they draw down to 1120 ft that is 4ft that leaves them 33ft to draw from all summer. So they could pull hard all of July and August and not reach the bottom of the power pool. They have been trying to move water for over a year and since they room to do it seems time to do it and I would love to see it down to 1115 again but I will live with getting the lake out of the woods.
  7. If you had gone to store bought six pack, returned, consumed 6 pack they would have transformed to a bunch of good looking 20 somethings.
  8. I plan on fishing this one tonight, anyone else going to make it?? If you are an EMT please send me your cell phone #.
  9. I can snatch a hook out of someone else pretty good but couldn't do it to myself. I stoped two guys in a nitro and asked for help, they knew what to do but didn't have the nerve to pull it out. I know what you mean about the Rock, sure helps when you can put together a 15lb bag once in a while.
  10. Lauched out of Prarie Creek around 7pm and I still had wake boats getting into the water and ski boats tied up along the ramp blocking people from launching. Finnally got in and ran to coose where I found water skiers and people just running wake boats in cicles so I ran up to Ventris. Surface temp was 88 degrees, light green stain with visibilty of about 10ft and little wind in the cove. Had a lot of short spots on a twin tail grub around the rocks then about sundown the top water bite came on, I had never seen the spots boil the water in so many places. It was a good spot on every cast, I was throwing a red fin and never got it back to the boat without a fish. Then I was unhooking a good 2lb spot when I got the middle hook from the redfin in my middle finger all the way up to the hook bend, with the fish still on the first hook. I finnaly got the fish off, the split ring off the hook and drove the boat back to the ramp. Back at prarie creek there were still 3 boats just doing circles to see how much wake they could throw into the Marinia. I could not stand to bend down the hook at all to do the bend and snatch hook removal, so I loaded the boat and headed to the ER. Sorry I can't report on the bite after dark.
  11. I look at like fishing nights in January, I just don't do it and I don't fish the heat of the day June thru August. I go out after 6pm or 5am and off by 9. I was down the white in trout water the other day and had four gray haired senior citzens come zipping around me in 8 feet of water and that was 7pm on a Thursday. So you can't get away from them all together but you can plan around the rush hours and peak play times, and if you don't have nearves of steal don't enter a day time tournament this time of year.
  12. About 100 yards downstream, the part you don't need a trout stamp unless you want to keep them. Guess I should get one of those but I am not that into trout fishing.
  13. Quillback; I put in a houseman's last week and started fishing at blue springs and caught a nice 16in rainbow on a 4in worm. Then got 3 spots on the same bend. Ran to Holiday Island and back fishing bends and had a great time,I was really surprised how far down I saw trout feeding on top when the mayflies started hatching at sundown. That is a hard boat launch if you are by yourself, glad my wife was with me since there is nowhere to beach.
  14. Just show up and pay there is another thread on here with more details. They start showing up pretty early with boats linnning up around 5:30 then launching at 7:00 pm. I have not fished one this year but have been there a few times when they have launched. Thought I was going to fish last night, but those thunderstorms scared me off. I just don't fish dark and rainy nights well at all, if there is still light at 9pm I can do pretty good.
  15. Mid 90's bluebird skies in the forecast I couldn't make it past 10am. I would be interested in finding a tournament series for couples that starts in September. Sounds fun
  16. What part of the lake were you in? I was down between Holiday Island and blue springs today and most of my fish were up under the trees on a white twin tail grub. There were a lot of shorts out in the channell chasing shad but every time I threw a top water the first hook was in their mouth and third hook was in their tail.
  17. I should have thought of that, I have fished the tailwaters just below the darn from the shore a lot on hot summer days but I am so used to fishing Beaver I forgot where that cold water ran. I will have to put in at Holiday Island and give that area a try.
  18. Was that a typo temp of 53, I have been lucky to find a water temp of 83 ?
  19. I have a friend who does good with the wider "shad" jigging spoons but I tend to go for the slimmer minnow style spoons. I have some I ordered from netcraft that are my favorite right now. What is your favorite jigging spoon and are you using them now, or just in cold water.
  20. They have a good web site and looks like a nice place, I will have to make a trip next week.
  21. If you were trying to cacth crawfish next to the rocks with your mouth in those boat wakes you wouldn't look that hot yourself.
  22. I drive over that way from Rogers, Ar and was wondering if there were any small town bait stores that are good for picking up some fishing tales and tips. Maybe a place with a table and coffee pot and a good selection of plastics and hooks in case I forget something.
  23. I was all around them last night after dark around point 6 in about 100ft of water. New moon, clouds with a good wind and they were still busting top. I threw every thing I could think of, swimbaits, top water even a black jitterbug but no love. There wer a couple of striper gudes near by before the sun went down and I never saw a bent rod but could not see them after dark. I didn't here any yelling from the near by boats, left the lake at midnight. Guess I need to get up early and get that sunrise bite on a new moon.
  24. That was a really nice article with some really good information I'm sorry it is gone. I don't know why a new idea makes some people angry, I really have enjoyed the sharing of information on this site and when you compare it to the Grand Lake or Beaver lake Boards there is a ton more useful information here. I got the point about getting off the bank, it is like opening a pizza shop in a small town that has 10 pizza shops already or going to a town that doesn't have a pizza shop. The guy who makes the best pizza can make it the town with 10 shops but if you go to the town were you are the only one in town you will sell a pizza. Bill please keep the information flowing you have a lot of fans following your advise.
  25. If you do find some small tounaments running at of Viola could you PM them this way or post them up. I would be interested also.
