  1. I will be out of town for business next week, now I know not to hurry back for next weekend. Good luck, hope you do good but for most of us, this is not a happy time. In the past most of those "pros" drive a boat on par with a 18 year old wake boater. You could not pay me enough to get in a boat with one and then it would have to be my choice not theirs. I just hope the Kayaks know they coming and stay out of their way, the camera boats seem to be the most dangerous to me. If I do make it back next weekend, sounds like a good time to visit Table Rock.
  2. The main point I got was splitting the net into thirds and also the fact he did not grab the weights with his left hand but further up on the net. Makes me want even a bigger net now. I guess everyone has to find their own method, but I feel fool proof since I started splitting the net like this guy showed. Bring on a 10 footer!!!
  3. At least you didn't get skunked
  4. Glad to hear they made into the river, I was doubting it for awhile there, two weeks ago I thought the lake would be 70 degrees by now. Guess cold fronts help sometimes.
  5. My problem was trying to hold the net in my left hand and thinking that the spinning hand was the throw, now I understand the three points and throwing the net out of the hand I am holding it with. I don't know why it took so long to sink in. I feel so empowered to see that pancake every throw....I am ready to retire to the Beach now.
  6. I was the worst at throwing a cast net, missed about 30% of the time with a 4 foot net. Then I bought a 7 foot net and could not throw it at all, I watched people and videos and tried things that clipped to belt, held the net in my teeth and still was at 30% good casts with the bigger net. Now if you can throw a cast net, you can laugh at me now.... Then I found this video from down under, messed up the first time, then realized I was using the wrong arm and switched hands and now I can not remember how to mess up, perfect circle every time. So if you have trouble watch this, practice in the driveway, go back watch again then practice one more time and you should be perfect.
  7. Sounds like a good day jdelow !!
  8. My gut says Rocky Branch, but just a feeling no real information.
  9. They never bunched up this year, seems the males and females are still in two groups. I never found those big groups under shad balls in places I usually find them in the winter. I still doubt we will see the massive run we usually have up the river. I really think the dirty water has something to do with it. I have never seen Monte Ne and PC so empty of whites and stripers in 10 years.
  10. I have drooped my camera into the ceder trees up Ventrias before looking for bass and the limbs were loaded with crappie and blue gills, yet I find very few people fishing those trees.
  11. From the looks of the jug on the front deck it looks like you have been some heavy drinking....
  12. Never heard of it, but just down loaded it. What does it do?
  13. Those are some slabs !
  14. I put in at PC yesterday also, goal was to catch bait and head south. When I got on the water realized I didn't fill the gas tank...DUH So I took the 5-7 inch gizzards and headed over to the bridge and trolled up to point 10 staying in the channel. I think I marked 3 fish except when I was over trees. There were fish holding in the trees but they would not come out even for live bait. Tough day in that area. Tested the new prop and it ran just liked I hoped so the day was not a loss, also found some really big trees in 100 feet of water that might come in handy in the summer.
  15. A quick surgeons knot and I have broke a lot of leaders and almost never at the knot. I have broke off 20lb leaders tied to 40lb braid and the knot was still been there and only takes seconds to tie.
  16. Strange year for white bass......thanks for the report
  17. When I moved here in 2001 catching a walleye in Beaver lake was unheard of, you wanted to catch walleye you drove to Table Rock or Bull Shoals. Now you don't even have to try and my personal best is 8lbs, that is bigger than my personal best bass. Granted there are good years and bad years but for a stocking program that was started in 2004 after several in the past had failed I have to say the Walleye program in Beaver is working 1000 times better than anyone thought it would back in 2004. Water conditions change, forage levels change and fish move so just because you don't catch as many or as big of fish as you did last year doesn't mean there is an issue. IMHO Beaver fishing all around to include the Walleye have done GREAT since the population in this region has grown so much. Heck when there was a gravel road connecting Rogers and Bentonville and pig trail was the only road to I40, there were NO walleye in the lake so the fact they have taken hold with 1/2 a million more people in the area and 1000 times the fishing pressure is a wonder in itself. If you want a real Ozark lake with little pressure and some good Walleye fishing get out of the city pond and drive to Bull Shoals, NW Arkansas exploded and is no longer the laid back retirement center it was in 1985, but somehow the Fish and Game has still given us a good selection of fishing close to home.
  18. I think you can also add the fact there has not been a big shad kill for three years now. The high water last summer kept a lot of boats off, less jugs and trout lines and yo yos just all around less pressure. We won't see the increase in the number of bass for some time, but we are seeing the increase in size. Every time I pull up a spot I catch myself saying that looks like a Table Rock fish. Just MHO but I think it is the increase in the forage base that has helped so much but also could be removing some of those little spots also, which in turn leaves more food for bigger fish to get bigger. But I don't think the FLW will come up with the size of sacks you see in the local tournaments, most of those guys just never figure this lake out. Here is hoping you draw two good ones !!
  19. I think good fishing on the first day of a cold front is one of the 7 signs of the Apocalypse somewhere around oil under $40 a barrel. Any way I don't believe in that stuff I am sure the Russians had something to do with this......
  20. DO NOT BELIEVE WHAT YOU READ, BEAVER HAS NO BASS, GO TO TABLE ROCK !!!! MOVE ALONG NOTHING TO SEE HERE !!!
  21. I don't eat fish that I catch sometimes I will even night fish for catfish and catch and release. But every big fish is a small fish predator so someone has their favorite and is glad to see the others taken out of the lake. That is the reason they have a stocking program. As far as I know only some of the whites have spawned so all the fish kept right now will put a dent in the population. But I did live in New York for about ten years where you could not fish for even catch and release bass until the 3rd Saturday of June and lifting a spawning bass from a bed was a big fine. I would not want to live under those laws again. But to those that do eat fish I have heard that 10 in spots are great !!! Please take some home with you next time your out, you can find them between the dam and hwy 12 bridge anytime of the year.
  22. Nice Fish...I backed out all weekend because of the temps and wind chill and you post that pic of your daughter who probably didn't complain once. Looks like I missed a good weekend on the lake.
  23. If you zoom in, like 35 feet of water you set the unit for 35 to 25 feet and are watching only 10 feet on the entire screen it should not do that,( if your spoon is where you think it is) doesn't work well if you are drifting through. I do that when setting on tree tops say at 60 feet otherwise I don't see the spoon on my little 5 inch screen. If the boat is moving even a 1 oz spoon will drift and be out of the cone.
  24. Yes !!! Another Hummingbird fan !!!
  25. Are they both on the back? Now I am confused, you didn't put one on the trolling motor? I thought everyone put the front transducer on the trolling motor? That is how I watch my spoons and drop shots......granted I don't have a 42in HD screen like you do....on the boat anyway.....but I can spoon off to the left and not see the spoon in 30 feet of water, move to the right of the trolling motor and pick up the spoon, how does that work if the transducer is on the back?
