  1. I don't know how to describe at idle or other, just as soon as I shift to reverse or forward in the water it is dead. Runs great in gear on hose.
  2. Yes I have and on the hose everything works great, that pretty much rules out fuel problems, In the lake in neutral everything works fine, but cannot tell anything once it goes into gear because it won't run even for 1 second in gear in the water. Will run in gear on the hose though. I am 99%sure on the fuel system since I have cleaned, rebuilt carbs, replace fuel pump and hoses.
  3. Don't be too quick to judge, I was holding out too, but finally broke down and got one. After throwing it for a half hour and landing two nice keepers I realized I am going to add curls to my work out if I am going to throw that thing for an hour. I had a lot of pain between my wrist and elbow, it is a real man's rig. Now that I say that I will run into a 115lb female on the lake that can throw it for hours.
  4. As far as the power pack it is a newer motor and they no longer have power packs they have those cdi modules, one for each cyl and to check it or the stator with muti meter I would have to shave wires, then it might not show up that way since it is after the triger engages the high end of the stator it dies.As you can probably tell I have all through the repair manuel but with all those parts having chips it is really hard to get a reading where you need it at the time you need it. I really think the problem is in the stator and I would not be able to pay a shop to replace one I would have to do that myself due to the cost of the part. It would be worth $75 to me just to find out for sure what is wrong. As far as fuel yes I have drained the fuel tank twice and it has been setting up with an empty fuel tank and empty carbs for months almost a year now. Thanks for the suggestion on the mechanic in Carl's Junction but it is further than I am willing to pull the boat right now. J-Doc I hear you about needing more money but it has been a year without the boat and it is time to find out what I am saving up for, modules, stator, triger, all three? Guess I will just drive around, talk to all the mechanics and toss a coin and hope. Bird Watcher I believe you had a pre 2000 motor and right now I wish I did too. They had wires leading to screws and you could test them a whole lot easier. If I am wrong about that maybe you can share how you tested yours?
  5. For everyone that has bought one and supports the ban and wants to show their support I will pay $2 plus shipping max $5 for the ones you need to get rid of now. What I fear seeing the most are those once a year fishermen outwith a guide trying to throw one. I would hate to try to get 5 swimbaits out of a guide.
  6. It does pee when I put it in the lake, but dies as soon as I put it in gear. Sound anything like your problem?
  7. Being "Elites" and too good to fish with co anglers anymore it would not surprise me if they passed a rule against any bait that the company making it didn't pay big bucks to the club. I have started looking at those guys like reality TV, it is about real professions but you have to remember it is a SHOW. What bothers me is all the jack pots and small clubs might start using this a standard and that would be sad for all the people that have bought these rigs, new rods, expensive braid and lots of swimbaits they won't throw on anything else. I do have an A-rig, do live in Arkansas where it is legal and don't fish tournaments so it won't bother me because I fish only to impress myself and if I want to throw one I will just not very long, darn thing hurts. The best use for it is to throw off the side and run the trolling motor, might not be bass fishing but it is bass catching.
  8. I have been to iboats several times, lead me to rebuilding the carbs, that did no good. Now I need to find out what electrical compenent is bad since they are too expensive to start replacing one at a time and I had suggestions on iboats that covered the entire engine even though no one had the same problem before. I do have the abilty to take any part off, or take the engine apart, but I need to know what parts are bad. I don't mind paying someone for the work but just hate when I have to pay for work I have already done or can't afford at the time. Last time I had someone work on my boat they took out brand new plugs threw them away because "they" liked another brand and charged me another $100. Today I talked to a shop that wanted to rebuild the carbs right off. When I told them I had already done that their reply is they would do it "right". Last time I will go there, they could be right but to assume anything I do is wrong and say it to my face is not the way to get my business.
  9. My boat has been down for a while now. I finally have two dimes to rub together and would like to get someone to look at and if in reason to fix it. The problem is the Motor ( 2004 115hp Mercury)runs great on the hose, but as soon as I put in the water it dies. I rebuilt the carbs and pretty sure it is an electrical problem. I only have about $250 to spend right now and first off just need someone to check the compression and run a fire check. The problem I have had with shops in the past is they give me a quote then when I go pick up the boat there is another $100-$200 in other stuff they have found. What I need is a mechanic that can check it out and understand that is all I have if I give the OK. I am not looking for the "best guy in town" just someone who understands I am working on a limited budget and needs some business right now. Also someone who would tell me what is wrong (for a diagnostic fee) then understand I might have to do the labor myself due to lack of funds.
  10. I did find a limit of 100 hooks on some waters on trout lines but no regulation on what fish you can keep as long as it is not over the limit for that lake. I have seen so many little bass dried up in the sun from yo-yos that have not been checked and cut every one in the line when I see it. You can run 30 of those and I have seen almost that many dead bass in a day. This is not new for 5 hooks, the umbrella rig weighted and unweighted has been trolled around beaver for years and I have seen them on planner boards downrigers and just pulled behind the boat. If you can throw ten lures on one line knock yourself out there is no rules against it. The only restriction on Beaver that are different for Bass is that you can't spear them. I have also seen guides fillet up a limit of 5lb plus bass at the ramp for clients that have caught those bass on trolled umbrella rigs.
  11. You are right about the striper fishermen using 5 hooks for years, I saw a picture of an umbrella rig a striper fisherman was pulling that had a total 0f 27lbs of bass on one catch. But if you think striper fishermen use a lot of rods, I have seen crappie guys out with 20 rods. Then I would hate to count the hooks on trout lines, that is what gets me about Table Rock they won't allow a 5 hook rig up there but have trout lines everywhere.
  12. I don't get the Thursday paper but saw online there was a report. Did it have any more details??
  13. 30lb Power pro and 17lb Vicious fluorocarbon sometimes 12 lb fluorocarbon as long as the line is stronger than the hooks and split rings so when a striper or tree gets my lure I can loose a hook before loosing the lure.
  14. well did anyone get the details?
  15. I am betting on a wart winning the money again probally on the North end. Even though I have seen a lot of big bass caught deep and myself I would be on points with shad with a spoon. Seems evey year someone shows up with custom painted wiggle warts and hits a 20lb bag right off the rocks. If the wind picks up the cole slaw spinner bait may also be the winner but my money is on the wiggle wart bite.
  16. I hope no ones tries to carry a 20-30lb striper around around with a livewell full of blacks. Those quater size scales stop up everything in the livewell and will choke out the bass. Does not sound like a good idea at all.
  17. So how did it go, really nice day but bluebird day probally made fishing a little slow I am guessing?? Did you find your pattern?
  18. How do they suspend anyway? I know with the McStick I have use heavy split rings and heavy owner hooks to get the rise out of the lure and perfer a slow head first sink in cold water.Mike even said to add a split ring. I plan to get a couple next week and just wondering how much weight it will require to get them to suspend if not a slow sink.
  19. Just a little tip from what I saw this past weekend. I was floating around Praire creek chasing the bait with serveral other striper fishermen and I noticed that everyone was catching more BIG blacks then stripers. I also saw a lot of BASS boats huging the shore and finding it hard to get a keeper. Shad seemed to hanging around 35ft but when they started breaking toward the 10ft level in 50-60 ft of water that is where the big blacks started hitting the live bait. We didn't see a lot of fish on the locator just walls of shad that raised in peaks instead of the normal straight line. Wish I would have had a spoon or jerkbait to see how many blacks I could have boated but we were looking for big stripers. Best of luck to all those brave enough to get out there.
  20. The only 2 reels you listed that I own are the shimino and Quantum and the Quantum is no longer on a rod and never get through one year with a Quantum. I noticed you left out the Mitchell 300X..Mitchel is an old company that has kept up quailty and keep down price. I have two 300x that I have forgot how old they are and never let me down and I forget to clean and lube since they never make a sound and keep on going. They are not pretty or expensive but they do take a beating and keep on going. I always treat a reel bad and reel them closed, leave them in the rod box and forget to clean and lube and have found the more expensive reels don't like to be treated that way.JMHO
  21. An OLD STYLE WART for less than $5 and a little EPOXY is a bargin to me!! Think I will coat the entire lure for a good tough clear coat,
  22. INNOVA called me while driving past the lake and said it looked like the power plant was shut down again. Has anyone been latley and what are the water temps?
  23. Looking at the snow this morning got me to thinking about the polar bear on the 1st and have not heard anyone talking about it this year. Is anyone looking forward to it this year? Looks like the winter is here early but then again it could be 70 and bluebird by that time. I always think it is a lot more in the spirt of the tournament when it is below freezing and the snow is flying a little on that day.
  24. I like the Moss green craw and the Chart Black back myself the old green craw was a good color but I don't see a color pattern in the new line that looks like that. I did see the UTube video but I still don't know if Rick Clun was talking about the old Wart Hog or the old old Wiggle wart. The old Storm wiggle warts that were made in OK sell for upwards of $20 even as much as $40 for custom paint jobs so I am hoping lucky e strike was smart enough to go for the old storm design not the old wart hog design.
  25. I have been looking for one of the new Luck e strike Wart Hogs. Just wondering if it is like a "new" wiggle wart or a one peice design like the old wiggle wart or is a copy of the old Wart Hog that used to be produced here in Arkansas that I didn't like at all. I am really hoping it is the "old" wiggle wart reborn."old" wiggle warts for $3 a piece would be a dream come true.
