  1. Hey Jim, glad you enjoyed yourself! I am getting the hang of tying. ...somewhat. I tied 3 nights last week and was feeling pretty good about myself. I got to wet a few yesterday and did pretty well. I caught my first Brown and also my first 20"+ along with about 6 other fish yesterday afternoon. All of which were on my own flies! It is funny you mention the scuds though. I had a couple that didn't stand up to the abuse so well. Will have to find a recipe online for review. I was hoping to catch up with Duffy so he could show me what I was doing wrong. He truly is one of a kind. He has taught me so much and I love hearing his stories about sending kids home with complete outfits. I am keeping my eyes open for good deals in that not so secret place I told you to scope out waders on rods reels or line to pickup on the cheap and forward on to Duffy so he can give another kid or two a rig, because like Brain said he sure won't take a dime of money for all of his time and help. Hope you make it back soon!
  2. Nice fish Russ!
  3. This point doesn't actually appear to be debatable. Tweaker project for sure.
  4. www.worldtradesource dot com is the site it says if you hover over it.
  5. Very nice. Where did you come across this at?
  6. Yeah even more specific was my ext color preferences and int color choice. But so set on '03 or '04 because it was the only two year they produced the "facelifted" discoveries that have better braking, handling and the 4.6 range Rover motor. '02 was still the old style and '05 brought on the LR3 (which is even better but out of the budget) and I was really holding out for an '04 but I found this deal and can't pass it up. One reason it is so cheap is because it needs a new windshield. The new heated windshield would be nearly $1k installed. BUT, I work at a glass shop and can get it at cost, or the even cheaper non heated version I hope it works out as well. I have looked at enough (even the over priced ones) to be well enough educated at what to look for and have gained a wealth of knowledge from the Discovery boards not unlike this one that I will make an informed purchase and not a "well gee I've driven all this way I am not going to go home without it now" purchase. Thanks for the luck. I have my fingers crossed. Cricket where do you live? Have you seen any '03 or '04s going through Manheim or any other auctions in Sgf or your area? Feel free to pm me if you like so we don't take this thread even further off track lol.
  7. Well it is a combo of both price and availability. I've been looking for, going on over a year now, for an '03 or '04 Land Rover Discovery II and there aren't a whole lot around the Springfield area. The ones that do pop up are always at stealerships with well over 100k on the clock for 12-15k. I finally found an '03 with 103k for $5500 through an individual. If it pans out it will be well worth the wait and drive. If its a bust we will hit the zoo, visit my sister and will still be worth the drive.
  8. Nice meeting you Jim and hope you had a good time, but like I said tell the wife you just aren't sure yet and need to scout it out one more time!
  9. Sounds like a plan that could be worked out! I'm actually going to STL this weekend but it is to pickup (hopefully) a new truck and I will have the wife and child along.
  10. Nice fish guys! I'm jealous of all of you river rats. Its been years since I've had the opportunity to fish a river.
  11. These photos are very disappointing. Chief, you are neither old and gray or nearly as Native American looking as I had presumed by your screen name. There should have been a spoiler warning and the people pics and fish pics should have been separate. This is a sad day for me on OAF. lol all kidding aside, nice fish guys. Glad to hear the boy out fished everyone again.
  12. I can see it now. "Smalliebigs' Big Smallie Guide Service" And yes I want a free trip after you start charging (you will have to eventually with results like that) for the contribution of the name. Nice fish guys.
  13. Very nice fish. Very respectable pb!
  14. Not a great thing to see, but it is better than people being vandals, which is what I expected to see coming into the thread.
  15. This is debatable as the MDC introduced them to most river systems in our area. They have wreaked havoc on even the Big Piney in my (hometown) neck of the woods, as well as many private ponds.
  16. ok
  17. I am glad you did, those pics were worth the wait!
  18. really? None of those thumpers broke your line????
  19. Bummer T-Rock, rough conditions. Did every one in the derby struggle for the most part?
  20. If someones head swells much more Lilley is going to have to get more server space...
  21. And FYI your photo bucket account isn't public.
  22. Nice night and nice report.
