  1. You're going to have to go inland to get to the smaller streams. At least anything I know of...Sonora Pass or Ebbets Pass have great access right along the Hwy...
  2. It is spectacular. I lived in Bishop as a kid. It's where I learned flyfishing. Mostly on the Owens river and Bishop Creek. Perfect time of year to go. Schools are still in session. We pretty much had it to ourselves...We even made an offer on a house in Sonora, CA.....We REALLY like it out there...
  3. Just returned from a trip to the California Eastern Sierra. Mostly fished Bishop Creek Canyon, but did fish the Owens river some. Also went to the West slope and fished the Stanislaus, Tuolumne, Merced, and several smaller streams....beautiful as always...
  4. How is she with outdoor cats?
  5. walleye at about 20'..I use a three way swivel with a 1/4 ounce sinker on a out 18 inches of line and crawler harness on about 12" of line...I lift my rod and make sure I am as close to bottom as possible...drop our rod down and make bottom contact ever so often...hope you catch one...
  6. ...the Jetties are fun, but be careful...Mackaral, bluefish, and redfish...and many more...I take my own equipment...I mostly catch fish in the 1 to 3 lb range...tons of fun...
  7. ...sounds right, but the 2lb leader, I don't think necessary. I just use 4lb test, even as my leader on flyrod and do great...that 2lb stuff is just too light for most applications...good luck...
  8. East side of the hwy 215 bridge on the south side...easy access
  9. ...as a very young boy, we lived in Bishop, California, which is on the east slope of the Sierra Nevada. Some of the best trout fishing anywhere, so of course I started fly fishing at about 8 years old...pretty much had given it up till the late 80's when my son got interested...then picked it up again in 2010 on a trip to the Black Hills and haven't stopped since. Went back out to California last summer and headed back next week. We are seriously considering moving out there...fishing is unlimited...
  10. ...I am yet to catch a crappie this year...however the Walleye bite has been the best I have seen...as you said, that 20' mark seems to be the place for the past 2 weeks...I caught 6 in less than 2 hours last night with 4 keepers...spinner rig and night crawler fished on a three way swivel...
  11. ...3 keepers this morning...all 20' ... hasn't seemed to matter, points, coves, bluffs..just 20'and everything I get I get on crawler harness or just jig and crawler...
  12. ...may give it a try on Thursday...
  13. ...I have found 1 in my whole life...
  14. ...how was the fishing?
  15. ..sorry...thought this was going to be an alcohol thread...

  17. ...went back this evening...2 keeper walleye and one short and 5 or 6 small bass...all in 20'...no crappie shallow that I could find...
  18. ...I usually put in at Hartley and fish pretty much the same are and had the same results as you...pretty much...I'm trying again this evening...
  19. Where is it? I've fished Stockton twice in the past week and no crappie...Walleye are great, but I have yet to catch a crappie...sunday we found 62 degree water all over the lake, threw jigs only, and no crappie...started in 3' of water and worked out to 20+ and nothing...Walleye are very good in water 15 to 20 feet with crawler harnesses, maybe the best I've ever seen it...but still no crappie...headed back out this evening...I have a feeling this will be the day...if not...I have Thursday to try again...thank goodness for the Walleye bite...Reports anyone..?
