    put in about 10am at Bennett Access...me and my wife caught 10 or 12, all rainbows, mostly stocker size...picture is of the biggest...we kept 4 for a nice dinner tonight...with fried potatoes and cornbread...it was a great day on the river...i've still not caught a trout below NRO...go figure...saw a guy catch a nice fat rainbow at Barclay....geez...

    ...I usually tie in a "hot spot" near the bend of my hook...pink is my fav, but chartruese works equally well...and a short tail...dominate with the hackle...but not to long, just right...I'd guess hook-up percentage at 80% or better...today I was 2 for 2...river was up and leaves were everywhere...mostly on my fly...still a great day...

    you can make your own molds with plaster...me and my son used to do them all the time...they also work for lead...I'm sure you can find information either on Youtube or just internet...and its very cheap...

    Kayaked from Bennett to Barclay Thursday morning. On the water at 7:30. Didn't have anyone else on the river till about 10:45. 4 trout, all above NRO. I still haven't caught a trout below NRO. Maybe I need to spend more time below and less time above. Took me about 5 hours to get to NRO and 2 hours on down to Barclay. River was low, but floatable. The canoers were having some trouble with the low water. Had fun.

    I fish streamers most of the time...I tie them all sizes...when I fish the Niangua, sometimes I'll let out about 30 feet of line, move my rod all the way from the right to the left and s l o w l y move my way down stream, never letting my streamer out of the water...maybe not traditional fly fishing but very effective and covers LOTS of water...just returned from the Sierras and fished streamers there too. plus they are fun to tie...
