  1. I AM SO glad those pics got re-posted...I've spent the last hour looking for them! I knew I'd seen some!
  2. I got motivated. Just tied up a few humongous fies. Lots of hair, fur, and stuff. That outta get em!
  3. I've been catching those 8"ers, and they seem to be growing fast...
  4. We are headed down there Sunday morning. Kayaks from Sand Springs. We are going to there take-out, which I believe is just a little above Barclay. I was down there wade fishing last week and did pretty good. 7 rainbows and 2 small browns. We plan on doing our main fishing in the first mile or so. We are kayaking because we are thinking of purchasing a pair for me and my wife. We have canoed alot, but never kayaked so it should be an adventure. I will most likely fly fling for trout, and my wife will use some power bait.
  5. I guess not...?
  6. On the East end of the Hwy. 215 bridge, and on the north side of the road is a great place to kayak...protected and some good fishing at times...seldom fished by boat fisherman...I've caught some nice smallmouth in this cove...good luck...
  7. I could fish that kind of water, not catch a fish, and be happy!! Headed to California next summer for some similiar fishing...I'm already excited!
  8. all hit it as soon as it hit the water...they seemed to like the slap sound...
  9. River was up at least a foot...off color...managed 2 small browns and one rainbow all on foam terrestrials...fish were right on the bank...wading was shaky at best and canoe traffic was minimal...I should have checked river level before I left...lesson learned...all in all fun as always...
  10. I'm gonna stick to my guns and fish on top all day...might rain...but I'll already be wet...so...I'll report...
  11. Think these will work?
  12. I'm headed down that way tomrrow...Anxious to try some new "foam terrestrials" I've been tying...
  13. there is nothing like fishing in the North...unless it's fishing in the west.
  14. We did that same float last Monday with similiar results, except we only fished for trout. Did manage a few smallmouth. Seems the trout fishing this time of year slows considerably after a mile or so. Also, LOTS of traffic.
  15. I like your quote, " You could not do it in the 1960's and you for certain cannot do it now." There may be more now, but with forums like this and 24 hour news channels, every little crime and misdemeanor is published and seen my more people all the time. Be careful out there, be vigilant. It is not your fault some moron steals your stuff, but you can limit there access.
  16. I was thinking the same thing about the Catalytic converters...hmmmm
  17. I floated Bennett to Barclay last Monday...Crowded river!!! Started out at 7am and by 9am the canoes and rafts started coming, and never stopped. My first time on this stretch, and fishing was just fair, but will go back later in fall or early winter. I catch most of my trout on a wooly bugger type fly tied on a 1/100 oz jig...either fish it like a nymph or let it ride in the current and strip it back. I just tied a bunch of BIG dry flies i'm anxious to try!!! I just tied an "indicator" grass hopper...I used an oranage indicator as the head...looks cool to me...not sure what the trout will think. I think it's the best use Ive found for an indicator!
  18. I would guess maybe 5 miles? Took us about 8 hours, but we took lots of time...Think I'll wait till Late October or November to do it again...
  19. One from today...
  20. Floated and fished from Bennett Access to Barclay...on the water at 7am and started catching small brown trout...4 to be exact between 6 and 8 inches....maybe there has been a stocking? Rest of the day 4 Rainbows all in the 12" range all caught on a variety of flies. Caught one 12" smallmouth. Lots and Lots of canoes on the river...Lots! Very fun day...
  21. For you guys who haven't gone a Canada trip GO! Save up your money and GO! I go every 3 years or so and it is more than worth the money...You don't even need a guide, find water, do your homework, and you will do great! I have a small video on Youtube of a trip I took a few years ago...Youtube search "dennis boatman" should get it...I took a 7 day solo canoe trip in Woodland Caribou Park...saw no one the entire time...I usually go to Flin Flon, Manitoba...its a longer drive, but I know that area better...Canada is THE place to go if you love fishing....Now I'm excited about going!!!
  22. Take Hwy 215 west to the town of Tin Town...turn south on the only road in town and it crosses the river...not bad wading below...and yes there are some smallmouth...
  23. Thanks..I'll give a report with less than 30 words, but each word will be quality...
  24. Going to float from bennett to Barclay on Monday...If we start by 7am, will we be ahead of the floaters?
