  2. I agree with Ronnie...you guys are weird...sickos.... Ok, GROUP HUG! Dano
  3. An excellent report and more importantly sounds like a great trip.
  4. Yes, counselor you did the right thing. If there had been no hope, no chance of making her viable then I would have said to not let her suffer. From one that has had to put down a long time friend and companion, it was probably the hardest thing I have done. My hats off to you. Dano
  5. Yep, Rip Collins on 4lb test.
  6. Ooops, Zach, sorry I haven't called...dang forgot it. pm me your number again.... Dano
  7. Thanks friend Ronnie.
  8. Even more curiouser why would FEMA buy it in the first place?
  9. Thanks Be to God!
  10. In my earlier post I cited two Arkansas projects that were in effect stopped by the little guy, the damming of the Buffalo River and the mining of Crooked Creek. I thought of another that is more recent. A water district applied to dam Bear Creek in Searcy County Arkansas near Marshall for the purposes of providing water to the area. A coalition of conservationist, the Arkansas Dept of Water Quality, The National Park Service and yes the locals banned together in opposition. The water district will now join other water associations in building a pipeline from Bull Shoals Lake near Lead Hill. The other point that mirrors Al somewhat is impoundments become toxic soup bowls. The first dam built on the Norfork has been feeling the effects of years of agrarian runoff from farms, factories, towns and from other sources of pollution. Spend time below the Norfork dam in the late fall when the lake turns over and you can smell the toxicity as water from the bottom of the lake is pumped through the turbines. I have felt for sometime that that lake is dying. I agree with Al that any stream is more healthy than any lake. Dano
  11. Gavin beat me to it....
  12. Phil brings up an excellent point. Maybe that is where this should be explored. It would be interesting to see what attitude those in charge of endangered wildlife would have.
  13. I have to disagree with you on whether the little man can put up a good fight. I point to the opposition by landowners, conservationist and other good deed doers who battled the forces that once wanted to dam the Buffalo River in N. Ark. Half of Newton County would have been under water. The fight was arduous, long, and expensive but it was won because of grass root efforts. The River is now protected forever. I then point to gravel mining on Crooked Creek another Gem of the Ozarks. The mining was devastating to the stream bed and dangerous to the future of the trophy small mouth. Because a handful of dedicated folk prevailed its now protected. I just don't buy any argument that says the government will get what it wants...maybe so in this case but not in the instances I cited. I would urge anyone who is passionate about protecting our waterways to fight the good fight. Dano
  14. OTF...I will agree, but at the same time, I am more concerned about the strIeam itself than what's in the stream. Water quality, habitat, stratum along with the riparian edge must be preserved or nothing will grow in the stream anyway. I think we have an obligation to save what we have and to make it better for those that follow us. Just my humble opinion. Dano
  15. Seems like that will limit the number of "general" public participation...Dano
  16. The lengthy report in that link can be saved to your document files by just clicking on the save icon. Thanks for posting. Dano
  17. I am glad Phil got back from his hunting trip. I wasn't going to be as generous...
  18. Ouch...but how is the truck?
  19. That's a good stretch of water. Excellent nymphing in the riffles and made just right for swinging soft hackles.
  20. If I recall correctly, its the same access road off of Hwy 5 as River Ridge. Dano
  21. Yes, go to the handicapped access, called the Ackerman access, walk up stream a few hundred yards and the sign is posted for the c and r section. Be mindful of the river rise though. The handicapped / Ackerman access is a road just left as you enter the town of Norfork. There is a sign posted. Dano
  22. If they don't that would be a travesty....
