  1. Well the chore is done. I have discarded some, added some, organized the boxes...and guess what? Instead of 3 boxes..... I now have 4.... So much for minimizing. But at least it's easier to pick and choose. The downside, the vest now weighs another pound. Dano
  2. Woodchuck, check here: http://www.mudhole.com/ More specifically here http://www.mudhole.com/Shop-Our-Catalog/Mud-Hole Dano
  3. So, what's wrong with that? Don't all fishermen do it? I blame it on being mathematically challenged. Plus its good for the psyche. Heck I will even count a hookup as a catch. D
  4. I know, I know...its my age......
  5. Oooops that was JJ...sorry for the confusion....
  6. You got it...we'll get a trip up soon then. Dano
  7. Obviously you didn't have to find your keys today...or did you?
  8. Thom, Moved my wife's 401k to a cash fund about 3 weeks into the disaster, but not soon enough to stave off big hits. The problem now is when to get back into equities...the timing will have to be just right. I am lucky in that my state retirement plan was and is safe (at least for the time being). Dano
  9. Doug I think I missed shaking your hand, but I did meet your wife, because I spent a good deal of time near the fish cooker....dang those salted tortilla chips were yummy.... Dano

    Redds

Excellent report TB. Very solid and sound advice about the redds. This area is so lucky to have a stream of Crane quality and the fact you saw alot of the spawning beds is great news. Sounds like a very productive day. Care to tell us what they were hitting? Thanks. Dano
  11. Mine is safe right now....er that is if I can remember where I buried that coffee can out back..... Dano
  12. Zach, I wish I knew more about Czech nymphs and the techniques. If I recall its similar to high sticking. Also aren't you on the Junior World team this year and if so I would assume Czech nymphing is the style most preferred. Dano
  13. Yeah, FFM I have some of those little flies. I will tell you right quick why I don't carry many.... I can't see em!!!!!! The PT's and The RS2 are excellent choices by the way.
  14. Just amazing. Probably the best realistics I have ever seen.

  16. Good on you pal. Great way to start the year eh?
  17. Thom I would never be without small elk hair caddis'. I think they represent as close to the caddisflys we see on the local streams. I have had considerable luck with them. Another one to not be without is a Griffiths Gnat. It represents a cluster of midges on the surface. They are certainly productive during a hatch. Finally never be without a black foam beetle, especially at the trout parks. Dano
  18. Thanks Chief, it sure is a resolution I have made for myself this year. Can't wait. Dano
  19. Kevin is right on with his tips. Very good advice for the first time builder. When mixing the flex coat, I always mix on a piece of aluminum foil. It seems to cause less air bubbles in the finish, thereby fewer air bubbles on the wraps. Dano
  20. Man, now that is organization. I wish I could minimize like that. One thing I have been toying with is getting me one of those large plano boxes and using it for just an inventory box., then only carry say 6 of each pattern. When my fly boxes get low, then just replenishing from the big box.
  21. Ham, excellent point. I do carry trout crack. I guess I was categorizing it in the scud / sow section. But it sure is a productive fly on the tailwaters. Dano
  22. We may have to change your name to jdtroutbum... Dano
  23. Dorber makes a fine blank and they sure stand behind them. I have a few of them and all have performed great. Just my opinion but when building my first rod I would go with a two piece blank. For me they are easier to work with, as to lining up the guides, finding the spline, and so forth. If you can get to the Dorber plant in Flippin, Jeff or Ray will help you with any questions and guide you through it as much as possible. Dano
