  2. Buffalo Canoes in Jasper Ar make some nice boats designed for the Ozarks Rivers. I think the also make a solo. http://www.buffalocanoes.com/
  3. Then there are commercially tied flys by the dozen and those prices haven't gone up.
  4. Living vicariously through the video pal.
  5. Any dry fly hackle in brown and or furnace will work. Don't get to tied in to specific colors, anything close works just as well.
  6. This is probably the best tying site for all levels. http://www.flytyingforum.com/
  7. You can get an inexpensive hackle gauge. But absent of that, I just fold the hackle to where the fibers measure the size of the hook gap and use that as my standard. I assume what you are confused about is whether you are using a dry fly hackle or something appropriate for wet flys and or soft hackle flys. A good rule of thumb is that dry fly hackles will be stiffer, and just the opposite for a wet fly (soft hackle), they are soft and subtle. Dano
  8. Amen!
  9. Thanks for signin' up and we look forward to reports. Dano
  10. Google Mucilin. Find you a tin. Its hard to beat. http://www.yagersflies.com/muflyandlidr.html
  11. Ronnie, excellent. Now I think that dude would work. Here is one that appears to be a simpler tie. http://www.warmwaterflytyer.com/patterns6.asp?page=16
  12. Fellows, I appreciate all of the suggestions, but I am not sure what of those suggestions I didn't try, big flys, small flys, clousers stripped fast and slow, and erratic. I am going to give it another try one day this week. I did rig up another reel with a sinking leader to see if just maybe I wasn't get it down on the bottom although I felt the crawdad patterns and other streamers were ticking along the gravel. I need to come up with a gitzit pattern.
  13. Waded a beautiful Ozark stream that is not 15 minutes from me with a good friend yesterday. Water up, and conditions excellent. I have always been able to catch most species on a flyrod, except.....SMALLIES. Yes, I admit it, for some reason I cannot catch smallmouth on the fly, and now that I have "outed" myself will get plenty of suggestions as to why this bass eludes anything I throw at it, streamers fished on the bottom, sub surface, on top, it doesn't seem to matter I obviously don't know what I am or should be doing. Now, I have caught smallies in the past, but I think quite by accident. The friend I was with is not a fly fisherman, but a GOOD fisherman none the less, very proficient with a spinning rod. When he noticed my frustration level and expletives as he caught smallie after smallie, he suggested I go up to the Jeep and get one of his spinning rods rigged with tube baits. (he was using them to catch a fish nearly each cast). I decided what the heck, got the spinner, and immediately got hookups and probably the nicest stream smallmouth I have ever caught. I know some of you guys can catch those bronzebacks with the fly, what's the secret, or do you have frustrating days like this. Catch you all later, headed to the store to buy some tube baits. Dano
  14. Welcome to you both and we look forward to reports....thanks for joining. Dano
  15. Phil, its still there. Just looked at it.
  16. Here you go Phil http://www.facebook.com/littlerockusace I agree too. Social media is ok for this kind of thing for general info, but you would think there would be "official" word to folks that it directly affects.
  17. Saw this on their facebook page yesterday: Bull Shoals & Table Rock: Bull Shoals releases will be reduced to 28,000 cubic feet per second at noon today, reduced again to 24,000 cfs at 4 p.m., and held through the weekend. Table Rock spillway will be closed at 4 p.m. today. Full generation will continue at 13,600 cfs through the weekend. 22 hours ago
  18. I can't imagine an instance where there would be civil liability for hooking someone on a back cast, but I do try to keep my eyes even peripherally on what is behind me when possible. But I wouldn't have given them my name either.
  19. Raffle will get you more bucks, and both of those groups are dedicated and worth giving too. Divide the proceeds between the two. Both benefit.
  20. Amazing....thanks for posting pal.
  21. Chrome runs it fairly fast and with errors. I do like firefox and primarily run it most of the time.
  22. Jim, so good to hear from you. I think you and I once talked of a trip East which we never made. and you are right there is a whole lot of fishing to do. Stay in Touch. Dano
