I will be heading down to Bennett this weekend and I'm wanting to try my luck with the niangua river. Are there any decent wading spots near the area that anyone could suggest? Thanks in advance. Cory Rubino
  2. I have been looking into getting a DSLR camera. Specifically the Nikon D5000. The only problem is that it does not have an auto focus motor which kind of limits you to your lens choices. I'm not sure how long you've had it, but are you already thinking about upgrading to say a d90 or something that does have an autofocus motor? I would rather spend $600 or so and have something I will enjoy instead of spending $1100 and having something that I will love. ie. love = money Thanks in advance, Cory
  3. mind has been made. heading out of washmo around 530 sat morning
  4. Thanks for the tips! I'm planning on fishing the current mostly. Just maybe dabble in the park... all of this of course if the rain holds off
  5. Heading down to Montauk for my first time ever. I'm hoping Bennett doesn't catch wind of this or she will be pissed. Anyone planning on being down there next weekend that would want to show me the ropes of the place? Tying up a few different flies to try bc I'm just unfamiliar with the area. Really wanting to try the current as well. I'm going to try to leave Saturday around 5 or 6am. If anyone is wanting to go down from the STL area, let me know. Cory
  6. I picked up a flight in June while I was down at Taney. I absolutely love it. We have 2 older st. croix rods that my parents use and I ended up letting my mom use my flight for an hour or so. The weight difference was actually obnoxious and I made her give it back. I unfortunately didn't know about the cork quality problem but I'm completely content with mine. Love the darn thing actually
  7. Seen a lot of post views but I just wanted to add that I would be interested in some Smallmouth/Largmouth fishing with my fly rod if anyone has any tips/suggestions or wants someone to tag along that they can BS with. Thanks in advance, Cory
  8. By the way, if anyone heading west on 44 and is wanting to hit that area up for a day, shoot me a message. I'm not sure how friendly the forums are but hey, sometimes two heads are better for one gas tank
  9. It would be kind of neat to let the winner choose the charity of his/her choice... if they wanted to of course. Just having them submit their charity at time of payment. Would the parks in missouri allow something like this to go on? It would be very interesting to see what kind of turnout you could get and it of course would be awesome to see any contributions going to a good cause.
  10. Are there tournaments like this every year?
  11. Bringing this thread back. I would be more than interested to look into a fly fishing tournament of any kind
  12. I have been wanting to try this cardiac area/suicide hill. Frankly, I didn't even know it really existed until about a month ago. Just not to familiar with the area. I would be coming from stl, would anyone have any easy directions/landmarks to know where I was at to describe? Thanks
  13. Never would have thought of that in 10 years. I even know a teacher at the votech school in town. Thanks for the suggestion!
  14. While I do appreciate the input, this doesn't give me much of an idea. If you're familiar with prices, is it possible for you to post them on here so I can make a decision to look into it further?
  15. they have flatscreen televisions(like 25 inch). if they have cable, it's very basic. i'm usually to darn tired after fishing to really pay attention other than having background noise. they do have coffee pots. I haven't been in the single sleeping rooms in way to long. i'm lucky to have a friend down there that has a camper and if i'm not going with him, there are usually a few of us so we get a larger room. i'm heading down on thursday so I can scope it out for you if you would like. 4175322356 is their number.. i've got that bad boy saved in my phone hahaha
  16. yea i've been fly fishing for about 6 or 7 years. just started tying jigs around 2 weeks ago. the coolest thing ever to tie something and actually catch fish with it.
  17. Gracias mi amigo. It seems like it might be a boring winter so I'm trying to get into a few hobbies.
  18. Awesome! I usually fish bell to bell so it will more than likely be in the evening that you get a visitor. Look forward to meeting you
  19. I was wanting to start making my own jigs. I am wanting something in the range of a sizes 18-22 with a small jig head. Any idea if anyone produces anything of this nature or anyone that actually takes orders for custom designs? Thanks in advance! Cory
  20. Actually my buddy and I were looking to do two guides the week we were down there. We were maybe looking for a guide for after dark and one during the day. Honestly I'm lookin for a brown or two and to learn about the waters.
  21. Are you wanting the water to be running?
  22. I'm looking for a guided wading trip for two. I definitely wouldn't call myself a novice but a seasoned vet, I am not. I've been fly fishing for about 6 or 7 years mainly at the parks here in MO but was planning on looking into Lilleys' for sure. I've aimlessly fished Taneycomo for a few trips but this last one I finally kind of picked up what was going on and it made me plan on moving down to the area! hahaha
  23. October!! Hahaha sorry about that. All I do at work is stare at dates so I just typed in the wrong thing.
  24. A few friends and I will be down 10-14-18-10 for a nice visit. First time Oct. Taneycomo trip. Looking forward to it. If there is anything anyone thinks we should know, please feel free to reply. Definitely looking to set up a guide for Thursday as well. Hopefully get to meet a few of you down there throughout the week. Cory
