  1. Myself and my Brothers have trolled for years and the fish always seem to want something new. First it was small lazy ikes and Rebel crawdads, then it was smal gold or silver Rebels or Rapalas. We would go deep with mini bombers with some good luck. Throw in the spoons, orange & gold cleos, gold and red diamond wobble lures, and black or brown small roostertails. Small is probably the key here so my next trip I'm thinking of trying Flicker shads. you will need to be able to troll slow with these small lures. Don't know if this helps but good luck.My favorite, gold 4" broked back Rapala.
  2. Hey Craze what size trout magnet do you use and what color head, chrome or gold ? Thanks in advance and thanks for the report.
  3. Inflated nightcrawler with a 1/2" piece of white powerbait trout worm.
  4. Fished Fri. & Sat. with no water running all day. Took a very long time to get some quality Bows for the smoker. Leaving Sun. morning wouldn't ya know they were running water.Once again had a great stay at Lilleys Landing the best on the lake. I even caught a 22" brown off the dock late in the evening.Water was low, half way up lookout water was so thin for the Lund we didn't go any further.
  5. Another great video Phil. I didn't catch the jig color. Did you say white 1/8th oz. ? As stated on a previous post , you should start your own fishing show. I'm sure with all the OAF's you could line up the sponsors. Nothing national just local. Don't want a bunch of Yankees and Westcoasters filling up the good areas with multitude of fishermen.
  6. Always looking for a great print for my man cave done up in fish & bears. Count me in for a framed one. Phil I'm thinking its time for you to start you own fishing show. You have to be better than some I see on cable now. Just a thought.
  7. I've jig fished many times on Taney and it never hurts to get this kind of information. Taking your time and do't get mad if you don't happen to catch a fish every drift. The fish will get interested as long as you keep the jig in the water and follow the great lesson Phil just presented you, you going to catch some quality fish. The one thing he forgot to mention was before getting on the lake stop by Lilley's Landing to find out colors, water flow, and a cold drink couldn't hurt either. Thanks Phil.
  8. Nice report Phil. Thanks for all the good info. You are right about some folks who just have to keep all they can get to the net. I fish and catch a lot of trout but only about twice a year I keep some of the large ones for "Smokin". If they wouldn't keep so many the next trip might be as fun as the successful one they just had. As always keep those reports coming, they sure do make lunch time at work more enjoyable. Especialy if the old trout licker Jackson is in them. Best of Luck. The Old Perchjerker...
  9. Lilleys is a one stop shop for all you need. Your crew can also fish off the docks when not in the boat.See Curtis and he has any info or as with all the staff will point you in the right direction for a great stay & family fishing. Good Luck to your whole tribe.
  10. One more thing, something is missing, where is that fish lickin Lab at?
  11. I know if the jig is bumping the bottom it is upstream from the float but if it isn't hitting the bottom is the jig downstream of the float? Are you wanting the jig bouncing off the bottom. Thanks Phil in advance, love watching your videos.
  12. We use to fish the run just above that gravel bar and yes it did come out half way. the water was deeper, no one had motors that tilted up unless you strong armed them. Caught trout on a red wiggler worm, didn't inflate them back then, with a 3/8 oz. split shot. Stayed at the Sammy Lane Resort, rented the boat at Fall Creek. What great times those were. your tackle box was in your coat pocket..
  13. Glad you choose to make this post today. I hope everyone realizes that we need to slow down even when fishing and enjoy the day. If you do, I think 5 fish will make you just as happy as 10 without beating yourself up for not being "on" the fish. Happy thoughts to all the Ozark Anglers, Hope to see you on the water soon.
  14. Always great to get in depth reports. I'm trying to get down this weekend. This will give me a good starting point. I also like that you include bank pictures so I don't guess where your trying. Thanks as always for the info.
  15. Good to see Leonard on the site again. Hope your getting out on the lake soon..
  16. Let's not discount the fact the possibility of a Giant Taney SQUID coming over the dam spillway.
  17. Is there a color pattern or size I should look for on the Thompson Spoon before I come down ?
  18. Is silver or gold better on the trout magnet jig heads ?
  19. There was very little flow the days I was there. I leave the wieght off my rigs until I see what the flow is. Just like Flyman I have all sorts of wieght sizes and just try to tick the bottom. I have used 1/16 to 1/2 oz. The worm rig is good but please crimp you barb as they do like to eat it up and it makes releases I lot easier on the fish.
  20. I stayed at Fall Creek last winter for 3 days. As long as the water flow isn't to fast, fishing an inflated night crawler with a white powerbait right above the hook was catching Rainbows and a couple of small Browns. Be aware boat traffic can be heavy in that area. As for the rocks I would go down them but had my fly rod and an ultra light. Each day they seem to want something different. The rocks aren't easy especialy at 62, but you can do it. beware the water gets deep quickly right off the rocks, and I don't know if Fall Creek managment wants you on them for liability purposes. I was down this weekend and if the rocks don't bother you they put them at the entrance of the creek also. Good Luck.
  21. Fished Saturday and Sunday and I was begining to think that they only stocked Browns. Started up in 4 to 5 foot deep just below Short Creek with A white power bait above an inflated night crawler. Had a blast catching 14 to 17 inch browns all morning. In the afternoon fished moved to the deeper ledge just above Short Creek. Must have caught 17 browns before we started catching some Stocker Bows. Sunday morning headed up to the boat ramp down from the dam. I was Fly fishing with a grey scud and red Zebra midge. in the no flow water. and they liked the red midge alot more than the scud. Brother Rick was catching them on ultralight throwing a mini light brown and orange belly rebel crawdad. Talked to 3 fishermen,(one fisherwoman) and told them that it would be a hefty fine if they were caught, as they were fishing with Salmon eggs. They apologized and didn't know about the trophy area. I told them about the Cooper Creek public dock and seen them down there catching some so all was good on the lake.
  22. Thanks Wildfowl. The black marine adhesive sounds like the trick. I'll give it a try.
  23. I went out and purchased new boots for my chest waders to comply with the no felt bottoms. I also have a $140.00 hip waders that I stripped the felt off but our shoe repair place says he can't get them in the shoe press to put a treaded sole on them. Has anybody tried anything out there that has worked, or should I just give in and buy a new set of hip waders. Thanks for any help in advance.
  24. Nice report. I also enjoyed the eating out "critics corner". Always good to hear whats happening around Taney. I use to be down every other month, but I seems like there is more to do as age sneeks up on the guy in the mirror. I guess I'll have to take my own advice and MAKE TIME. Thanks for the info and motivation to get back down to one of my favorite spots on this earth. You can't stay at a better place tha Lilley's.
  25. Thanks for the info Phil. I'm coming down Fri. night & staying till Mon. Leaving the boat at home so it looks like fishing the dam area is on. If anyone sees a rolly polly guy with a Perchjerker hat & coat on come on by and see that even a "clown" can get a suicidal fish to jump on his line on ocassion.
