  1. Nice report.Congrat's on the tournament. Trying to get a trip down there next week if weather holds out.Sounds like I could follow your patterns and have a jump on the guess work. Thanks
  2. Remember you don't have to be crazy to be a fly fisherman, but it does help. Good luck on the water and don't fill your waders with river water.
  3. Whats a Bass ? *<:0) 0 0 0 {
  4. I'm one of the lucky ones who never haved smoked, but I seen many times how hard it was for family & friends to quit. Best of luck in what we know is a difficult challenge. hope to see you an the Lake as soon as possible.
  5. Go to Dicks in Old Town Banson and buy diaper pins that have colored heads (blue,pink,&yellow) they don't come out and it is a very small hole in the fishes lip in case you want to cull to a bigger fish.They are also cheap.
  6. Thanks to everyone who had some input. I got a better feel as to where to start fishing on the next trip down. The Forum is a great place to go when your not sure as to whats going on with Taneycomo waters.
  7. May 31st was my 4th trip down since the last Big Flood. It seems that below the Dam doesn't hold the number of fish it once did. With 1 gen. going it was almost a shure time to catch fish. I dont see as many fish as I use to at the outlets either. I mention this to an Angler and he said it was a lot better with no water generating.I found my best shot was trading in the fly rod for an ultra light.Right before dark a trout colored split tale Rapala was good but as soon as it got dark Leonard K's brown PMS jig was bringing a fish with almost every cast down by the Boat Ramp. Went up to the Dam and had the area to myself Thursday but no fish to hand.I also make this observation by not only me but others around during the day were not having much sucess.Just a thought and it won't keep me from coming down because the boat fishing from lookout to Bass Pro has been great. See you on the water.
  8. Hey Leonard you didn't say if you released him or he's going on the wall or in the frying pan <;0) 0 0 0{
  9. Nice catch. I had the pleasure of fishing thingamabobs earlier this year with Steve.He showed me alot on fishing high generation days. I just wonder if he found the fly rod & reel that a Giant Squid took to the bottom of the lake...
  10. The flood of the century placed this guy below the Dam in Taneycomo and I met him with a white woolybuger on a fly rod.
  11. 27 12 inch crappie from a lake in southern Illinios. The good news thew 34 back just like them.Caught them 3/20/2012 Perchjerker and brother Skip.
  12. Coming down Saturday afternoon by myself till Tues. afternoon, which means fishing all the time. OK a little eating & sleeping. If you see an old guy flogging the water just yell Perchjerker and I'll answer... Hope to see you on the Lake.
  13. JW I can't say definitly but next time you know you might be coming to Taney, drop me an e mail (Look for Perchjerker on the Forum it's there) and I might be able to come down for a day or two and we'll fish.So many fisherman have helped me learn the ropes Im hoping maybe I can pay a little forward.If not just Email I've been fishing Taney for 40 years, and might put you in a better spot for sucess. Keep the bottom of your waders on the gravel.. Perchjerker
  14. Thanks again Phil for all the video. Not only does it teach, but I'm also using it to get rid of "Fishing Fever" up here in Ill. Hope to be down the last week in February and see you. Don't know any thing about making movies, but your instuctional clips look pretty good to me.Keep doing them and I'll keep watching them....
  15. Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year to all on the Forum. Thanks for all the info, videos, and fishing reports that you have posted for everyone to learn and enjoy trout fishing @ Taney.If you go to other fishing sites and see the gripeing and name calling you would see what a quality site this is.Special thanks to Phil Lilley & Leonard for the extra help they seem to give to everyone.40 years of fishing Taney and it continues to change yearly.So the updates are always helpful. Hope to see you all on the water sooon......Perchjerker
  16. I don't want a job, I'll just retire. Anyone know of a good deal on a small home on the water between Fall Creek and the bridges above Bass Pro???
  17. Just drive down 76 and you will see rooms for $25.00-$29.00 a night. A bed and a shower is all you can expect.I wouldn't take my wife but I guess its good enough for 2 stinky fisherman who only need a bed and a place out of the elements..
  18. Hey Fredrick you forgot to give the color on those rooster tails.
  19. I was coming down next week and was thinking about not bringing the boat.Is there a way to get to lookout area by driving or walking in? At 60 years old the shortest way would be appreciated.Thanks in advance. See ya on the water.
  20. Where are all the boats ? All those empty stalls look spooky...
  21. I have floated from the dam to Lilley's Landing with one of Lilley,s fishing canoes (they are shorter & wider than a regular canoe)It was just the right distance if your fishing all the way, which we did and it was great.If your not using Lilley's boat & drop off service, I would drop your boat off at the dam ramp , drive down to the ramp at Cooper Creek, call a taxi to take you back up to the dam and float back down to your car or truck. If your not fishing then you can do the same all the way down to the Landing. Good luck in whatever you do I know you'll have a great float especialy if you go during the fall colors.
  22. Thanks for the info Phil. Once again you keep us up to date as to what is happenig in Trout Shang-ri-la. Hope to see or stay with you when we come down on the 26th -29th.
  23. Crimp down your barbs on a #6 baithook and using a medical suture remove hooks carefully and no harm is done. Be sure to keep the rod bent at all times so the pressure will not let the fish throw the hook.I have released hundreds of fish in good health that have lived to bite again..
  24. Ive had sucess fishing from just below Fall Creek to Short Creek.Stay on the deep side and use an adjustable strike indicator because the depth changes a lot.We will fish from 4 to 9ft. using a grey #14 or #16 scud with a smaller little brassy as a dropper. Hang close to the bank and work the shade,falldowns and large rocks.We have also gone down to Monkey Island and used a variety of scuds,ugly midges,san juan worms,and even 100th ounce jigs fishing about 4 ft. deep.they are smaller down there but at times the action is rapid to say the least.Our last stop would be the down lake side of the old coffer wall of rock that is out from the city campground or the deep side across from Lilley's Landing using all the above flies. Good luck be gentle when releasing fish and eat more chicken.
  25. Nice fish and a great report. Wish I was there but it's time for Crappie @ Truman.
