  1. On a scale of 1 to 10, with 4 units of generation being a 5, just how fast is the current at the dam. How heavy of a jig would you use if you were throwing one with a spinning rod, and would it be ok to use 6 or 8 lb test as opposed to the usual 2 or 4 lb Just curious George
  2. Great Stuff Bill, nice of you to let Phil catch one every now and then. George
  3. As long as they are not using spinning rods.
  4. HEY SOI3 With one unit running on that culvert, what do you like to use? Keep it between us, or Leonard may just show up. Twosets
  5. To keep your hands dry use medical rubber gloves. You do not need to remove them to tie flys and keeping your hands dry really helps to keep them warm. Plus they are cheap.
  6. It has been a long time (since my kids were little) since dock fishing, but you kind of do it like tight line catfishing. Phil will sell you the "hot" color of power bait. We used to use half of a night crawler, better to pick up a brown with. Cold beer is always a plus for night fishing, if you can keep yourself under control after a few. Good Luck Check out the dock reports above.
  7. I believe that the draw down mentiond in this form happened this spring. I do not think that there is another one comming, although I could be wrong. George
  8. There is a great public ramp at cooper creek, if you are going up to the restricted waters it is a shorter boat ride than from branson. Lilly's is on the right just up stream from cooper creek, you can't miss it.
  9. Hi Randy There are many spots up stream from lillys to ruin a prop. The best advice would be to talk to the dock guy at lillys, they have a map and I am sure that they would be happy to point out the hazzards. The best thing is to go up with someone who knows the waters. In general 1) short creek creek comes in on the left as you go up stream, there is a lot of shallow gravel below the creek, stay to the right as you go up stream. 2) fall creek is on the right above short creek, approach from the left, as you get to the house on the left with the track boat lanch ramp angle across the river to the concrete ramp on the right side. Go up the right side until you get to the brush pile, then angle back to the left toward the log that looks like a gator. Then stay on the left side in the channel about 10 ft from the left bank until it starts getting deeper. There are still huge submerged rocks to look out for as you go up toward lookout. There is really no reason to go above lookout unless the water is very high and fast, and even then there are plenty of fish between lookout and fall creek if you are interested in the restricted waters. You can see a platform with a fence at the top of the bluff that is the "lookout" for the lookout hole. Good luck. Check out Bill Babler's posts (or better yet, hire him for a day or half a day) and you will get a ton of info on how to navigate and fish tany. George
  10. Thom Do like Phil and Bill say. Good luck. Red worms are always good, I caught some on red wire worms. Give us a report when you get back. George
  11. I was down the 13th thru the 15th and fished mostly the restricted waters between fall creek and lookout and caught fish on the usual suspects (micro jigs, olive, white and pink) (midges either black with silver or red size 12 thru 16, actually may have done better with the larger size) (scuds grey size 14) It was very difficult when the sun hit the water (about 10:30 am to about 4:00pm) if there was no wind to disturbe the water. We got bit only when there was a ripple when it was bright. In retrospect, we should have maybe gone downstream and hit some deeper water (say, short creek area) in the late mornings and afternoons. If your grandson can throw a jig (1/16 of 1/32)on a spinnig rod, I would try the areas above fall creek on the left side as you are going up toward lookout from 630 pm till dusk. Good Luck
  12. Great report, thanks for sharing George
  13. Let me add to the refrain, nice fish. Now, when Phil says he is "not a fan" of something, he is expressing an opinion, not "slamming" The only thing that I have ever heard Phil slam is rude behavior, which Col Mcray from Lonesome Dove(one of my favorites)along with Phil "will not tolorate" I wish that personal issues and confrotations would be handled in a face to face or e-mail to e-mail (adult) manner, not as a public matter. They have no place on this forum in my opinion. In that regard, I think Jeremy is out of line here. Lets keep this about fishing and leave other stuff aside. George
  14. Thanks Dano Bookem
