  1. Clean them and collect their money. Like many things doing the task isn't hard, but knowing what to do may be. The Ruger MKII was never difficult to re-asemble, just had to know the trick. I launched into things that too days to re-assemble, requiring multiple trips back to the computer to look a the videos.
  2. I saw it on springfield news last night. Body recovered near where he fell out of boat. Didn't say much more.

    What's Cooking?

You guys have me really wanting to go get a few crappie to make some chowder now. Heck I might give it a try with "gasp" store bought fish, like tilapia.

    What's Cooking?

Chicken bone soup. Many different forms and nearly are delicious.
  5. Ness I have tried to explain to my kids the risk of debit cards don't think my wife fully understands either.
  6. I have had more aggressiveness shown from water snakes than from Water Moccasins, usually the Moc's tend to lie in the sun and give you the look similar to an old yard dog, "don't mess with me, and I won't mess with you" look. Water snakes seem to be much more likely to come calling and get all snotty about me being in their part of the creek. Only snakes I have ever been bitten by were water snakes and one lone black snake that might have gotten a little excited while I was catching him, didn't give him time to calm down.
  7. I have never been a bar person, don't even like them. But mostly I am on the same page as FW with a few exceptions. I do like some of the specialty beers like Shock top lemon, and good darker beers like Dos Equis. Love me some Vodka, don't even like the smell of Rum, MD 20/20 has some very hazy bad memories associated with it. I do enjoy a nice dark red wine though. I don't drink much anymore though, weekends at friends house for supper I will usually have wine, or coke and crown.
  8. Oh I haven't given up, it was just the first exploratory trip. I would much rather crappie fish than go deer hunting in November.
  9. An order won't ship until the payment is cleared, after that Wrench is right why should it set in some other place awaiting the next leg, reduced or free shipping comes with drawbacks. Midway used to be extremely fast shipping but the last few things I have bought through them takes longer, heck they are even in MO. I realized that it may ship from somewhere else in the country depending upon what it is, but yeah the companies make deals with shippers to reduce costs. I suspect that somewhere there is a study that explores how long americans are willing to wait for something we buy to arrive at the door, and will react accordingly.

I have considered it, as I love good chowder. Just not sure of a good recipe.

    What's Cooking?

In rural.missouri you do run the risk of someone calling the Law on you for not.frying it. I actually like it because I don't have to drag out even the little fry daddy cooker. Even better is when you do taters on the grill in foil packets also. Makes me feel so healthy that I forget about all the butter, salt and bacon pieces in the taters. Almost want to go for a jog to finish it off.

    What's Cooking?

Tonights Hillbilly quisine. Crappie and fried taters. Had planned to fry crappie but wife called audible and requested grilled. Melted butter, lemon juice, a few seasonings mostly a light dusting of Old Bay, Lowry's seasoning salt, and something called Nature's Seasoning. Grilled till dine, saved the juice from the sheet cake pan, added a little more lemon and made a sauce to put on the fish and taters. Without the kids at home it doesn't take as much, nearly foundered trying to finish it all.
  13. RPS, hope I didn't sound like I was judging you, only spoken the truth, I don't know any musicals. However I do enjoy many of my kids movies
  14. The sales folks at BPS are an eclectic mixture of people that know the products and college kids who work cheap. We're I suddenly gifted with $ received from owning BPS, I would make it into an employee owned bidness, full time employees get to buy stock at a reduced price, non full time get only hourly rate. Who am i kidding i would likely have sold oit early on and become a roamimg semi alcoholic who camped and fished, and hoped my royalts checks came in on time. I have had good luck with most products from BPS and never had an issue returning something for store credit or replacement, but the key is doing a little research to know what things are junk, and what are worth the money. Are their products the top of the top tier, nope they sell what is popular or what folks want. From many reports the Nitro line has improved greatly in the last couple years. As for competition, basically he owns his own competition thus having a huge control of the market, who else is going to come along and decide they can beat BPS or Cabelas out of the market. There will continue to be the smaller niche retailers like Tackle Warehouse etc. Who exist on the fringe.
  15. RPS I don't hunk I k ow any musicals but I do know some kids type movies I will happily list. Lion King, Over the Hedge, Fox and Hound, The Bear, The Pacifier, Road to Eldorado.
  16. We gave it out best effort yesterday. Buddy and I spent basically all day on LOZ, put in at Browns Bend and fished mostly the Rainey Creek area, then went upstream a ways exploring. The fish were short but not in short supply. Plenty of 8 inch or less crappie, and very willing to bite. Finally quit with a total of 12 keepers (some were dang small keepers too) between us. Kept a rod rigged for Whites but even with the wind they never showed up on any of the banks we were on. Fish were suspended around the docks early on, but by noon they had settled to the bottom. Some current early and late whether from the Bagnell end or Truman end I really don't know but definitely some flow out on the main body, not back in the coves. jig colors, pearl was the most consistent but as I tired of catching little ones, I began to switch colors and never found much they would not hit. hoping that some cooler water will move some bigger fish to the dock areas.
  17. for fun plinking and practice, I love my Browning Buckmark. have owned the Ruger MKII and 22/45. The MK II was a nice gun, never really hit it off with the 22/45. Also had a Ruger Single Six, for some reason I could not shoot it worth a dang. Thus when I went to larger caliber handguns I went with large frame double action. GP-100 and a Ruger Redhawk (sure wish I still had it), I could shoot them well enough, down side was weight they are heavy. For anti-people I am an old timer, only thing I really liked is my Kimber 1911 in .45 ACP it simply fits my hand and works well for me. Also with I had a small .38 spl revolver for dropping into a jacket pocket, carry in the console sort of thing, something like a Ruger LCR.
  18. AWESOME!

    What's Cooking?

I have had broasted chicken, and some of it was very very good, and some of it wasn't as good. I have eaten chicken at some places that were touted to be fabulous, but didn't think it was anything special, and other hole in the wall places, including gas stations that was fabulous.

    What's Cooking?

Fried chicken is one of my weaknesses in life. I would give up cigars and alcahol before I give up fried chicken.

    What's Cooking?

Today was plain Jane food day for us. Lunch at church, I wrapped some jumbo hot dogs in bacon and grilled them, one of the other dishes was interesting and delicious, butternut squash chunked up and sliced apples, with some brown sugar and butter and baked, it was delicious. It's a Methodist Church so food is never lacking.
  23. Some of the most incredible fishing I have ever had was with schools of large white bass when they are attacking anything that moves. Only thing better was a school of surface busting hybrids on Truman one day.
  24. Let them try, I think it would backfire on them in a big way. But it will be up to folks like us to fan the flames should they try that route.

    What's Cooking?

BilletHead, I will plead guilty to your accusations, most of my waterfowl culinary experience has not been good. With the exception of some duck breaats that were wrapped in bacon and fast grilled. All the rest have been well in a word bad. I know many folks like goose and duck I just haven't had the expwrience of liking the meat yet. Guess that's why I don't hunt them. But you made gravy so that goes a long way toward making me think it might be good, who would make gravy with something that ain't fit to eat. Says the liver gravy guy.
