  1. Thanks all.
  2. I was right were you were last year. I switched to a furled indicator leader, and now I get the best of both worlds. You just have to grease it every now and then, and it works well on all but the heavy flys. http://www.feather-craft.com/wecs.php?store=feacraft&action=display&target=GC015
  3. This is probably a stupid question and worth a laugh for most of you, but I honestly don't know. Is it worth putting a line out for Mr. Wiskers in cold spring feed waters in the Ozarks...such as the trout and small mouth waters. I never fished for cats in water you could see in past a couple of feet. Additionally, if you have spot on the bank you don't mind sharing near St. Louis, drop me a PM.
  4. I'm not sure, but I feel out of kayak in Germany (military) once in July during the thaw. It was cold enough to take your breath away. I couldn't image standing in it all day.

  6. Al, If the population is still in question, why even open a fish and take season?
  7. Have you ever wet waded all day in snow melt? If yes, did you get your D___ out by sticking your thumb in your mouth and blowing hard.
  8. I'm looking at the luggage with the vented bottom for wet stuff.
  9. I'm headed out for a dream trip to Yellowstone in early August. Any advise on traveling back with wet waders and shoes?
  10. I debarb.
  11. It is real fish...it is Pacific Pollack.
  12. I've been on the run lately so if this already posted apologies up front: This is a new record Northern Pike in Canada. He caught it on Turtle Lake. Check this thing out... The man (in the photos below), was fishing and caught a 36" Pike. As he was reeling it in, a 56" - 55 lb Pike tried to eat it !!!!! He landed them both in the same net. The last picture is unreal
  13. All what is a catalpa worms? I think I know, but....

    Pumpkins 2011

    What is underneath the pumpkin?
  15. Sweet trip... thanks for the report.
  16. Mine will be in the mail today.
  17. Find the book "Fly Fishing for Trout in Missouri" by Chuck Tryon. It outlines approaches, flies, and locations in the state to fish. It is an awesome book to the "virgin".
  18. I don't mean to high jack this thread, but has anyone used the rare earth magnet connections from the net to the vest? I would like a C&A net with this connection, but I'm afraid of losing the net after not feeling it separate after snagging on something.
  19. I agree, swing san juan's in the riffles and then pull back against the current. Use sinking line or sinking tip.
  20. Is part of the blue ribbon area really private? Yes...conservation rules are the same for public and private. Shouldn't they take it off the trout area map? No...you can always ask or pay for access. It is marked as private on the map. Definitely not provide any stocking? This is a wild trout creek and (as far as I know) it is not stocked unless there is an emergency situation.
  21. Well due to the weather I wasn't able to leave early enough from Illinois to make it to Spring Creek, but was able to make it to BSC. I had an average day, bringing in plenty of fish to hand. I brought in a bunch of BSC specials (4 to 6 inches), but had some 8 to 10 inch fish mixed in here or there. The creek has settled out from all the rain, and I have lost a couple of my favorite holes. One was lost to a large tree (but good for the fish) and one filled in with rock. I wet waded yesterday, and the water wasn't that cold. So...this is the last trip for me until the fall. It is time for me to learn how to fish some bigger water anyway so I'll take the summer and learn the Meramec below the park. I need the practice for my trip to Yellowstone in August. Matt, if you catch this, it was nice meeting you, and I did end up pulling out an 8" out of that hole. I'll have to tie up some of your flies. Thanks for sharing. See you all here in the fall. MIC
  22. Here is the Wapsi catalog. It has pics and names, and it help me over the winter while I was learning. http://www.flipdocs....10004505_770045 Here are a couple more of my favorites from when I started: http://www.danica.com/FLYTIER/ http://kwsu.org/offers/FlyTying.aspx Welcome to the club.
  23. I'm in the IT world and all sounds up and up. The question to your support team is what is the date of their last virus scan update. If it is more than a week old it should be updated and rescaned.
